CELTIC misfit Jack Hendry has emerged as a shock target for Steven Gerrard at Saudi Arabia outfit Al-Ettifaq.

The Scotland international centre-back, who cost Brendan Rodgers £1.2million when he arrived from Dundee in January 2018, is wanted by the former Ibrox boss who joined former Hoops fans’ favourite Filipe Jota in the Middle East earlier this month.

The Portuguese winger signed for Al-Ittihad in a sensational £25million move worth £10million-per-year tax free for the exciting attacker who cost £6.5million when he switched on a permanent basis from Benfica last summer.

SAUDI BOUND…Jack Hendry is a target for ex-Ibrox gaffer Steven Gerrard.

Now Hendry, who spent last season on loan at Italian club Cremonese from Belgian side Brugge, is preparing to join the star trek to the cash-rich Gulf State, according to a report in The Scottish Sun.

The towering 28-year-old defender is expected to undergo a medical and then complete signing formalities later this week.

Hendry is under contract with Brugge until 2025 after they paid £3.5 million two years ago to KV Oostende who had signed the player for an agreed £1.75million option fee after an impressive season-long loan deal from the Hoops.
