Celtic 2-1 Kilmarnock

648

Kilmarnock substitute Danny Racchi scored with a thunderous striker after 87 minutes to turn an otherwise pedestrian Celtic victory into a late drama.  Georgios Samaras scored a goal either side of half time to give Celtic the platform to secure a victory which moved them to within a point of the top of the table.

Victor Wanyama played in central defence, which left his midfield partner, Beram Kayal, bereft of a solid accomplice in midfield.  As a result, Kilmarnock found it easy to run through the Celtic midfield with Paul Heffernan and Dean Shiels causing problems.

Neil Lennon must have been wondering what he would need to do to spark Celtic into action after the break when Cha Du-Ri sprung clear on the right and threw in a high cross which Samaras attacked six yards out and headed into the net in first half stoppage time.

8 minutes after the break Samaras made it 2-0.  Gary Hooper collected a through ball on the right and knocked it into the Greek’s path.  Samaras looked to have lost the ball, which was caught between his feet, but he recovered, evaded some flaying defenders and cracked a left foot shot into the net from the edge of the area.

Kilmarnock looked well out of the game until Racchi’s late intervention but after they pulled a goal back Celtic looked rattled.  Celtic scarcely held possession for the remaining minutes and hardly put two passes together in three minutes added time.  Fraser Forster was forced off his line to challenge Heffernan with seconds remaining.  The keeper did well to block but the ball broke free to Dayton who failed to convert an excellent change to equalise.

No didn’t get to Dons game but going on Wednesday to box courtesy of a mate – will be a laugh as there will be a two Dons fans and a Hearts fan watching the game, me, 2 Huns, a Geodie and a Makem – trying to get the tele tuned to the Celtic Rangers game..or at least SSN…

I’m taking the old SKY GO in some form (ipad or whatever)as back up and will be getting plumbed in big style – one of my Hun mates texted me this afternoon saying he felt it was all over…I agreed!

The new Aberdeen stadium is definately going ahead – and will have a Sports Village attached with G4 astro – Stewart Milne told me all about it a couple of weeks ago – as his son’s team (Westdyke) were playing my son’s team (Culter) at ASV and he was saying they are getting similar thing attached to new stadium. Given the crowds AFC been getting they will need the income.

  11. Happy Christmas Paul67 and the rest of the CQN family!!

Interesting wee post tonight on RTC blog, this guy bought shares so he could complain to Companies House about no AGM and unaudited accounts!!

    corsica says:

    24/12/2011 at 10:32 pm

Corsica sends Christmas regards to you all and, we hope, a small message of cheer:

As a shareholder, corsica wrote to Companies House regarding the failure to hold an AGM, the failure to notify sharehders of this decision, and the failure to provide audited accounts.

We have received today a response from Companies House which asks for further information and which we shall address in the New Year. It also confirms that, if no accounts are lodged by 31 December, action “will be taken” and that they “are aware of Mr Whyte’s history”. As this is now impossible, action is now inevitable.

Interestingly, the letter suggests that corsica should make a formal complaint to the Insolvency Service given the seriousness of the allegations made!

You may recall that a letter has already been sent to the Insolvency Service but we still await their response.

Our office is now closed until 3rd January so I am afraid there will be no further news until then.

    Merry Christmas.

  12. Paul 67’….Special guy, have a cracking day…You and yours deserved it….
