Celtic 2-1 Kilmarnock

648

Kilmarnock substitute Danny Racchi scored with a thunderous striker after 87 minutes to turn an otherwise pedestrian Celtic victory into a late drama.  Georgios Samaras scored a goal either side of half time to give Celtic the platform to secure a victory which moved them to within a point of the top of the table.

Victor Wanyama played in central defence, which left his midfield partner, Beram Kayal, bereft of a solid accomplice in midfield.  As a result, Kilmarnock found it easy to run through the Celtic midfield with Paul Heffernan and Dean Shiels causing problems.

Neil Lennon must have been wondering what he would need to do to spark Celtic into action after the break when Cha Du-Ri sprung clear on the right and threw in a high cross which Samaras attacked six yards out and headed into the net in first half stoppage time.

8 minutes after the break Samaras made it 2-0.  Gary Hooper collected a through ball on the right and knocked it into the Greek’s path.  Samaras looked to have lost the ball, which was caught between his feet, but he recovered, evaded some flaying defenders and cracked a left foot shot into the net from the edge of the area.

Kilmarnock looked well out of the game until Racchi’s late intervention but after they pulled a goal back Celtic looked rattled.  Celtic scarcely held possession for the remaining minutes and hardly put two passes together in three minutes added time.  Fraser Forster was forced off his line to challenge Heffernan with seconds remaining.  The keeper did well to block but the ball broke free to Dayton who failed to convert an excellent change to equalise.

1 in 4 kids in the West Coast will not even have Christmas dinner never mind presents! Shocking statistics. I’m trying to talk the wife into fostering as there is so many kids out there who are not even getting a chance. I was one of them once.

Life’s so hard for so many just now, I am ever so thankful for what I have and it’s not much, but my kids have a Christmas in a loving home.

Well done to Kano and what they have done. The true spirit of Celtic.

    God Bless The Glasgow Cektic.

    Good night all.

Your post hit home for personal reasons that don’t need to be discussed here.

Suffice to say that the announcement the other day should greatly increase the number of adoptions taking place therefore drastically reducing the number of children in Scotland who can endure years in care homes.

  12. I hope every CQNer is enjoying a happy Christmas with their loved ones.

I was lucky enough to get the perfect present: an unannounced and unexpected visit from my son.

Bugger kept quiet about it and flew in to be here for Christmas.

Add in today and I am a happy chappy.

A wee song to give thanks O Holy Night Martina McBride

Happy Christmas to you and yours Paul. I hope you are able to have all the generations together.

On a personnal note I would love to be able to foster. Been there as well, so appreciate the needs.

I just think that people with a loving stable home have a lot to offer and they just don’t realise it. Need to convince the missus though……….

  15. theweegreenman

It’s a huge commitment I just wish more were prepared to do it. Good luck, if you manage to persuade the missus of course!

Lovely thought, I really hope the mrs agrees. I know a girl who is of grandparent

age that packed up her business to do such a thing.

Meet her everyday at my kids school and she says she has never been happier

Good luck if you do, even thinking about doing that tells me all I need

Send the Lions out to score at least 7. We will get 2 chalked off and they will get 2 penalties.

Listen, every time we play the hun there’s one or two danger men,the thing with them is they are our mortal foe,I remember thinkin ‘well if they just get rid a Boyd’,there’s no point in it,they will play out their skins against us,Aluko will pose as much threat as Novo did, shite player but did well against us,we just have to be on our game and were not favourites either, they are a wounded animal just now so we need to keep the heid, their top so were going to have to raise our game.

  20. Just sitting here with a glass or two of wine surveying my living room that currently looks
