Celtic face Newco amid their onerous load

182

The look on Karamoko Dembele’s face!  He had just been shoved, two handed, to the ground by a Dundee United defender, who made no attempt to play the ball or do anything apart from shove Karamoko, inside the box.  If ever there was a ‘Welcome to Celtic’ moment for a young player, this was it.

Like many spectators, I was unsure what the current handball rule was when the ball struck Giorgos Giakoumakis arm before being turned in by Daizen Maeda, but I am not a referee.  John Beaton is.  The goal should have stood, the Karamoko incident should have been a penalty and a comfortable 0-3 Celtic win should have been a landmark statement of intent.

The goals John Beaton allowed to stand were scrappy.  Two deflections and a fumble by a usually reliable keeper, not that this mattered.  Celtic dominated play, United were unable to craft a chance worthy of the name.

We will face Newco in the semi-final at Hampden on Sunday 17 April.  Newco are almost certain to play a Europa League quarter-final second leg on 14 April.  We have a league game at Ibrox on 3 April and it is likely we will face Newco again at Celtic Park before the end of that month.

Celtic will have a week to prepare for each game.  Newco have the prospect of two major European ties and three games against Celtic inside a month, an onerous load.  The hard work is still to be done, but we are well placed.

  4. Having watched the last 4 CL games, I just can’t see past Liverpool for the big Cup. Imagine having a front 3 of Salah, Mane, Luiz, and your back up front 3 is Jota, Firmino, Minamino. Young lads like Doak haven’t a hope of breaking into company like that.

And who is it supposed to kid??

Celtic PLC agreed to retain oldfirm ticket prices in 2016, and Celtic season ticket holders financially backed££££ the PLC ‘after’ the PLC had pulled the same price = same club ticket trick.

100% of season ticket holders financially backed££££ the PLC for seeing Sevco£49-Rangers£53 as the same club no iffs no butts not a single protesting voice.

I wonder if Hesgoal’s decision to stop showing, first EPL matches, and now UEFA games is in some way connected to the war in Ukraine related sanctions that are having an impact far beyond that conflict.

    Indubitably connected, I would say

I’m not, park the bus, but if he gets that the PLC ‘rigged’ the same club oldfirm ticket prices in 2016, then at least he also saw through the PLC deceit and good for him, I’ll need to keep a look out for this, park the bus, cheers. 👍

    2012 = oldfirm ticket prices of £49

    2016 = oldfirm ticket prices of £49

Remember that Rangers ‘supposedly’ died in 2012??

Yet in 2016 the oldfirm ticket prices of £49 stayed the same??

More for an oldfirm ticket than a CL ticket.

    Just think about that.

The £49 ticket price must’ve been agreed between the oldfirm clubs in 2016??

So who would’ve agreed to keep the same oldfirm ticket prices on Celtic’s behalf??

    Lawwell??

    Desmond??

    100% of Celtic PLC??

And why did Celtic season ticket holders dance along to the PLC pied pipers tune and pay £49 after having spent the 4 years from, 2012 to 2016, every day on Celtic cyberspace claiming that Rangers are dead and Sevco are a new club??

Did Celtic supporters lift a big heavy stone, only to drop it on their own feet??

Or were Celtic supporters too busy getting pissed out of their minds celebrating the arrival of, Brendan Rodgers, as manager,to be bothered with uninteresting things like, oldfirm ticket prices, trophy stripping, Celtic fc’s integrity, etc, etc??

It looks as though the Celtic supporters in 2016 will go down in the annals of history, as being too far up themselves to notice that a, MAJOR deceit, was being carried out, ON THEM, by a Celtic PLC board of lizards??

In 2016, Celtic season ticket holders, paid £49 for an oldfirm ticket in December, for our visit to Ibrox.

The Celtic season ticket holders, then went into Ibrox and they sang….

    “YOUR NOT RANGERS ANYMORE!!” ????

The PLC board, PLAYED, the Celtic season ticket holders, and this was the PLC’s way of answering the same club question.

The PLC have said nothing, OFFICIAL, in 10 long years about the same club, so they, SLEEKITLY, set up the supporters with an oldfirm ticket trap, and Celtic season ticket holders were, STUNG, some of them still don’t know, SIX YEARS LATER, that they were used by Celtic PLC to answer the question of, are Sevco£49-Rangers£53, the same club??

The Celtic fans bought the £49 tickets, probably gulled by the Brendan street parties??

    Who knows.

Its not bollocks Tom, and you can play all of your obtuse cards if you like, but that would then be denial, that Celtic season ticket holders in 2016 were sold down the river by, Celtic PLC, who themselves dodged the same club question, EVEN TO THIS DAY, they dodge that question, and folk like you Tom, are fully financially backing a Celtic PLC board who’d sell, YOUR, granny to keep the oldfirm game alive.

Where are we now, £53 for an oldfirm ticket, Tom??

When do yo say enough, Tom??

When it gets to the magical number of, £55??

    —–

Surely the ‘market’ decides what tickets will sell for, just like it decides what players’ wages will be, and what transfer fees are paid – £49 seems to be the equilibrium price – why would a business sell for any less? What reason could a business give to its shareholders for selling goods & services below the price that the market would willingly accept?

Directors have a statutory duty to promote the success of the company.

    Genuine Question:

Celtic is a business – why would you have them act in a non-business manner? Why would you want that? What would it achieve?
