Was anyone surprised at yesterday’s result? You shouldn’t have been. I don’t think I’ve ever before written two articles against taking a result for granted. Celtic are ridiculously inconsistent as Kilmarnock, Hibs, St Johnstone, Inverness and now St Mirren will testify, even Arbroath left Celtic Park with a draw. The intensity which has been self-evident on Champions League duty has been posted missing far too often.
Defeat yesterday was entirely possible as is defeat away to Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup on Sunday. There will be entirely different tactics and attitude when Juventus call next month but right now you’re feeling sore because, against all odds, we’ve conceded a League Cup final place and we’ll find an equally brave opponent at some point in the Scottish Cup unless a solution is found.
Speaking at the funeral of Sean Fallon last week, Sir Alex Ferguson referred to need for a manager to be a hard taskmaster, generating a corresponding need for the assistant manager to be plugged into the dressing room. I’m sure this is not the only way of managing a football team but it was how Jock Stein and Sean worked, and it’s how Sir Alex has worked for the last three decades.
Millionaire players need an edge in their lives to deliver on a lesser stage.
I had to be in Paisley all morning, which did not help my mood.

When I was over for the festive season I must have been one of Sainsbury’s best customers for Italian wines – along with yourself of course!
Bought a few of the cartons of Nero d’Avola – cost about 3 times what they do here!
Two branches to choose from as well in a 6/7 mile radius!
Great!

sign john mcginn ?
certainly one to keep an eye on, very good yesterday
I am just old enough to darkly recall the Feyenoord disaster of 1970, when Stein had the side believing they had only to sidle onto the pitch to win the European Cup. The performance that night, characterised by a showy and dreamy languor, is instantly recognisable to anyone who remembers it. I have recognised it several times since, Hampden matches against Ross County and now St. Mirren providing examples from the last three years. Someone should tell the 1971-born Lennon about the Feyenoord spectre, since he seems not to have clicked-on to it yet.
Doc you about Glasgow this week?

Any word on your ‘unusual’ question the other night……………..?

back in 82 i was a mere 15 year old, and my uncle told me to take his 2 main stand tickets and take young cousin in there for his first rangers game.
some hairy drunk ambushed me on the way round and persuaded me “the celic end is where you want to be wee man”
so we swopped.
that soakin stunted my growth.
Ooooffft ! Jimbo67 ! Remember that Dundee game well think Tam Gemmell captained Dundee ! My auld fella God Rest Him sent me down front so he could hav a good bawl n a wee hauf ! Disappointing game but cherished moments none the less ! He certainly left me a wonderful legacy being Celtic minded .

To cut a long story short ……
“@lawrencedonegan: @LorrainHerbison I didn’t miss them, I turned off the show when I heard DJ name. If I want inarticulacy on football I’ll talk to the cat”
Lawrence Donegan has been giving Snyde (BFDJ and DL in particular) loads of stick over the last few weeks, I like his style!
Old Tim
They`ve got Languedoc ,a French wine I really enjoy, in Morrisons at £5.50 reduced from £11. Been on offer for about a week so stocks might be running low now.
JJ
PS I might be down earlyish on Wednesday. Which pre-game pub do you drink in now? I went into BB`s last Tuesday . There were two Tims at the bar but I didn`t recognise them. Does no one go there now?
Was in a bar earlier today where one of the partners is a big Inter fan.
We started talking about the upcoming games with Juve and I asked him if he would be supporting us.
He replied – “F****n right I will against those b******s!”
