Celtic interims report turnover up

571

Celtic published a decent set of interim results this afternoon for the 6 months to 31 December 2015 but chairman, Ian Bankier’s address gets down to business with, “One the park, it has been a frustrating season”.

The sale of Virgil van Dijk contributed to a £12.6m income for player trading, balanced by £6.1m spent on the acquisition of Jozo Simunovic, Scott Allan, Saidy Janko Ryan Christie and Nadir Ciftci. This brought pre-tax profit to £11.7m, with cash in the bank at £7.7m (up from £5.3m a year earlier).

Turnover was up by an inch to £31.4m as the club traded at an operating profit for the period of £1.564m (before player trading). The second half of the year is devoid of European football income, not that the Europa League is that much of a game changer.

I know financial stability isn’t an end in itself, but it’s important nonetheless.

If they want to make it a closed shop carry on I say people are fed up watching the same teams in last 16 of champs lge at the minute imo. There are plenty other of big teams in leagues getting left behind we should be talking to them and making our own plans.

  2. Not so long ago Celtic had a turnover of £75million.

We are now being told that we are well run having managed to reduce that to £31.4 million.

We are in an spin of ever decreasing circles.

    Macawber rules.

We will just keep cutting the cloth ,and cutting and cutting.

The standard of player has dropped because of this continual dropping of income.

Which leads to cutting of costs,

Which leads to poorer players on the park.

Which leads to a dropping of income ..

    Which leads to …………

I have been saying this for years on here.

We have to find a way to get out of dodge, and in with the big boys.

    Rummenigge…is he African?

Maggie, want to explain that one?

If it is an obvious play on words that is poorly done, but you know that, don’t you?

  4. Alright Eddie. Then tell you what. Why don’t all the supporters wait until the, ahem, new business model emerges. We can all, save up our season ticket money while we wait. Just like Celtic.

That way we all save money?

    Corkcelt.,yeah failure is dead exciting.

  5. SAD news to share with my Celtic family

….PFAYR ..SACK THE BOARD on 12TH FEBRUARY 2016 4:53 PM

Also ….I thought Simunovic cost £5m….or so we were told

    – ================================================================

    And that`s not all.

    Ciftci cost 2 mill.

And how do we know that?

Because the C.Q.N. Board bashing gurus have angrily told us so.

Now with a 6.1 mill total spend , that means that we were actually paid to take on Jozo Simunovic, Scott Allan, Saidy Janko ,Ryan Christie ………………………

Not very charitable action from the Celtic Board.

Maybe that went to pay for P.L.`s heated driveway.

    Sack the Board.

  10. RIP big Boab, and may perpetual light shine upon you

Thoughts and prayers with all the family and for you Boab

  11. Anyone aware of spare ticket for tomorrow ?

Will happily pay for or donate to the wee Shay Fund

Family over from Canada, looking to go and support the Celtic :-)

  13. OWEN…

If your post is directed at me finding it funny, well, I can only say… Sometimes you have to to laugh.

The political correctness is going overboard now.

I watch films that black actors use the term as jocular, are we becoming that touchy that we are offended by the slightest joke?

Ffs if you knew what my nickname in work has been for the past twenty years and I take as banter, I could have got half sacked, just because of my religious persuasion.

Oh well….the up to their knees in fenian blood walks will start soon.

  14. Philbhoy - SACK THE LOT OF THEM! on

I think if KH Rummenigge was watching the Dundee V St Johnstone game he’d want Scoddish clubs in the Champions League.

    Obviously.

Meantime Sutton and co are desperate for O’Dea to get a retrospective ban and the jail for life.

Scottish football is doomed and we brought it on ourselves.

NegAnon2, I offered no opinion on what my mate said to me. He simply said what he said from a business mans point of view. He saw no reason to continually reduce debt and increase our credit worthiness unless we were about to change strategy or there was going to be a fundamental change in our business environment.

  16. Why did you ask if KHR is African.

He is a world renowned German footballer.

Not connection to Africa that I can see, so why did you ask the question?

As I said, if a crass play on words, poor.

  17. Just read Ronny’s comments on Patrick Roberts. Some people need to calm down. He said he needs a bit of time to settle into things and recover from a few injuries he had when he arrived. That was it. Surely it makes sense to take the pressure off the boy. The MSM had him down as the next Messi last week.

Why is “just frustration” presented as an excuse by a bankrupt football commentator for one footballer kicking another?

    Avenae idea eether.

  21. Sipsini

No it was not directed at you but at the person who posted the play on words in the first place.

As for Black/African Americans using the term that is their way of taking ownership of the word away from those who use it as an insult, but try using it in their presence and see how “funny” they would find it.

No more for me tonight work early tomorrow.

  22. Aiden Bhoy

J will get in touch for the tickets

Much appreciated Bhud, a donation to wee Shay fund I take it ?
