CELTIC STEP UP HOWE CHASE

CELTIC have stepped up their hunt in their pursuit of a new manager with reports of advanced talks with Eddie Howe.

The former Bournemouth boss appears to have moved to the front of the candidates to become Neil Lennon’s successor, according to the Daily Record.

Howe allegedly knocked back the opportunity to succeed Chris Wilder at Sheffield United who are heading back to the Championship.

The 43-year-old well-respected coach has now emerged as a genuine frontrunner for the Hoops post after recent revelations, as reported by CQN earlier today.

Howe spent four years at the south coast club, but left after they lost their top-flight status last season.

He has been out of football since August last year and has also been linked with Newcastle and Crystal Palace.

A meeting with club supremo Dermot Desmond is believed to have taken place and an announcement could be imminent.
