  1. Evening all

Obviously good to come third but that was like most of our games in Europe this seaaon an absultely excruciating watch.

Broony was head and shoulders our besr player. Ntcham was a huge improvement on Stuart A who is a shadow of where he was 8 or 9 months ago. James F looked good too at times but the rest were poor.

We may have achieved European football post Christmas but having lost 5 out of 6 games I do not feel like celebrating- we look a worse team than a year ago

  2. I managed to see every game in this CL campaign…apart from the one we won :-(

Still, onwards to the Europa League.

  3. “we’re doomed, doomed I tell ye” Our EL draw could be as tough as the CL. That is some array of big clubs we could be drawn against.

  4. Joe Filippis Haircut on

We move on to Sunday and we are certain of another very hard game against Hibernian so no rest for the players.Brendan and his back room staff must sit down and work out our best team and for me it must contain sparky. H.H.

  5. I think we would get decent money for Armstrong and Bitton and introduce Liam Henderson for better work rate and dig.

  6. Brendan knows the score. Technique not good enough.

We have vast room for improvement and we have the best manager to improve us.

Surely Ntcham has proved he is the man in the middle. All others should be secondary to him

  7. They gave you a treble.

They gave you 67 games unbeaten in Scotland.

They gave you another League Cup.

They gave you Europe after Christmas.

  8. Horrible, horrible and more horrible.

EuL — we are having a laugh.

Chance to try for seeded status — naw, can’t be bothered.

    European pedigree — soiled again.

18 months to build a better side and we started the game with the class of 2016.

Lazy, half ersed and living off our reputation.

And that was just the crowd.

    Potentially great night ruined.

BR better get a grip — the lack effort, focus and fight was shameful.

    They were poor.

    We were terrible.

Logical me !… but the facts were ,it’s two games winner takes a europa place .

It was never going to be easy ,cause we are celtic and we don’t do easy ,but we are there , the fans that attended tonight were great . Just wish we had put on a show for them

SP -looks like mcg and sa are just not there for the 90 mins in europe – wonder if br will give ON a run having seen the full CL group stage campaign- I think a lot of SA and CMcG but maybe as subs at this level

What we pay is besides the point, the media never stop banging on about the disparity income wise, I am just highlighting that Anderlecht have a huge head start on us on TV income, the fact we throw good money away on middle of the road players is not something I would be shouting about.

  12. Our problem is that players with the prerequisite technique and speed of thought that would improve our lot in Europe simply do not wish to play in Scotland, regardless if we could even afford them in the 1st instance. Paddy Roberts being the honourable exception.

  13. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan on

I think you make a great point.

Many people talk about our frailties in defence but it is in midfield that we need to boss, dominate and dictate.

I love Tom Rogic’s feet, can admire Stuart Armstrong’s engine, McGregor’s tidiness and occasional ingenuity etc but time and time again we rely on Brown being head and shoulders above all of them with his attitude and generalship of that part of the field.

However, at this level having one general and three foot soldiers is not enough.

We need a midfield that is far stronger, has greater spark, is as tough as old boots and some creative class and muscle about it.

I didn’t fancy Armstrong for the job tonight. Maybe with another one or two better players around him Stuart can step up but I would have gone with the more physical presence of Ntcham from the start — though why anyone should listen to me I don’t know.

I believe that we have to step up in class in the midfield area.

A stronger and better midfield creates chances for our forwards and relieves pressure on our defence and goalkeeper.

The midfield can dominate and control and inspire a team.

I would like to see Kouassi Eboue play a few games as I have been told, and have briefly seen, that he is a player who can make a difference.

We have European Football after Christmas, which is great, but we should want to improve and kick on given the money that is available to us and the opportunities we offer to players to play prolonged European Football at a more than decent level each season.

Brendan has to become Brendan the Builder.

Right, enough of being a know all.

I have had a really generous offer from one CQN’er who I shall not name but to whom I am very grateful.

I would just remind everyone that every pound donated before 31st December will be matched by a more than generous philanthropist and so each donation will double in value.

Trying to feed 805 kids is no mean feat but I am confident of getting there with a litte help from my friends.

Onwards and Upwards but always in Walfrid’s shadow.

  14. Well I got the score prediction totally wrong when I said we would win by 2 goals, first half we kept on giving the ball up cheaply and they were right on us , bit unlucky with the goal deflection in off the post, some good performances from Broonie Ntcham KT JF Craig Gordon, we dont half take chances with our passing at times but that’s the style we play, second half we threatened a bit more but not a great night better days ahead and in the EL, still plenty improvement to be made BR knows this and is honest enough to admit it.

  15. The MF troika of SA / SB / SC sorry CMcG had probably the worst 45 minutes I have ever seen in a post 94 CFC team — they either couldn’t be bothered, they just don’t have the talent or they just cannot play As a CDM but they were terrible.

A string vest would have put up more resistance.

  16. After losing 0-1 to Ajax there was much joy in the stands and on the field at the final whistle, I can still see Lubo, hands in the air with a huge smile on his face. Nae greetin or gnashing of teeth that night even though MON practically parked the bus with a midfield that contained Lenny, Lambo and Jackie Mac.

A couple of days later Lubo led us to a 4-1 victory at Easter Road with a sublime opener which I watched in the Station Bar in Alexandria.

  17. Honestly, some of the ham shanks on here.

    Spoiled brats, haven’t a clue

Forget BM and PSG, these are European Super powers the like of which have never been seen before. Our WHOLE CL was about head to head against Anderlecht.

    We won 3-1

  18. I’VEHADTOCHANGEMYNAME

I’ve never been that sure about Stuart at this level and when Oli came on and you see how he plays the game, he can pas he’s a tackler and he’s hard as nails, just what you see in other good Euro teams. Our midfield were swamped tonight by a midfield where everyone did there jib in the first half I thought only Broonie in our team knew his job.

TR for all his skills needs two or three players in behind him so he can operate at his best, so ON, Broonie and one other, maybe Kouassi I haven’t seen enough of him to make an opinion but whoever is its they need to be able to do all of those things otherwise you have a passenger in Europe and we just can’t afford that.

I’m patient enough to see this through with this group of player I love watching them grow as a team and I hope we will see them start to find there feet in amongst better player season after season under Brendan

This seasons objective has been reached perhaps not in the style we would have liked but reached all the same.

The Celts Rollercoaster rolls on and on!

  19. Obviously delighted at having secured Euro fitba after Christmas, but the feeling is tinged with a bit of sadness after yet another team beats us at home.

    Fortress it is no more.

The players as someone said earlier have played a lot of games and have a busy month ahead.

I hope we can add a couple of quality reinforcements in January.

A CH is a must cause Big Dedryk just gives me the fear !!

  20. It was a sore watch tonight.

    Anderlecht did out play us.

No excuses and no hiding place.

But…………. we, as 4th seeds are through to Europa and will be facing a superior seeded team to get past the last 32 into the last 16. If we win that, we will then get an equally difficult team and will, again, be odds against to qualify for the quarters.

To win Europa outright we are 66 to 1 with 15 teams rated at better odds than us to win it. There may be more than 15 after we see tomorrow night’s CL 3rd places resolved.

As well as the expected higher rated teams, (Arsenal, Atletico, AC, Zenit, Lyon, Villareal) we are rated lower odds than Sporting (28/1), Atalanta (25/1), and Nice (33/1). We are on the same 66/1 peg as Dinamo Kiev and RB Salzburg.

Those, to my mind are realistic odds so I will be happy if we get 2 Europa ties after Christmas

  21. MM

With respect, you really don’t have a feckin scooby what the game of football is about, get back to Aden where you belong, cos a Celtic site is no the place for you.

  22. Why doesn’t everyone just go for a sleep? You’ll feel better for it. And when you wake up Celtic will still be in Europe, will still be unbeaten in Scotland, will still have pocketed a significant amount of money to invest in improving the team, will still have Brendan Rodgers as manager and will still be on course for another league title.

  23. Complete lack of drive or confidence.

We played as if we expected to lose — the only issue was by how much.

Attacking throw in 10 yards from their box — two passes later CG is under pressure trying to play the ball out. It is all about attitude and we went into the game without any.

The whole game plan seemed to be based on getting the ball back to CG as quickly as possible.

Home game and we have Anderlecht, yes Anderlecht pressing us on our own 18 yard line.

If they had any class we would be out of the EuL.

Now all the happy clappers have 3 month to come up with excuses as to why we get put out in the last 16 by. Team with a turnover less than ours.

  24. That was a hard watch. Thought Anderlecht were by far the better team. We looked scared again in Europe. Not a good look. :(

  25. Poor stuff tonight. Hard to find any positives other than we’ve got European football to look forward to next year. Hh

  26. THE EXILED TIM on 5TH DECEMBER 2017 10:20 PM

Mate, they probably earn a million a year extra from domestic tv than we do

  27. TET @ 10.32

Away out ‘n play tig wi’ the buses ya zoomer.

We were beyond poor tonight and yet your only reaction is to get personal.

  28. Tend not to read back after disappointing result. My thoughts on tonight. Our defence played very well, much more stable when the 1st picks are available. Our midfield,in the first half, with the exception of Broony & Forrest lacked belief . Dembele was isolated. Delighted that the 4th seeds finished 3rd . Remember the step up from the SPL to Champions League is huge. Looking forward to Thursday nights in Europe. KTF
