What Nationality was the referee tonight.

    ————————————-

    Lanarkshireish

  2. ALASDAIR MACLEAN.

I thought he may have been Serbian, and the reason I asked was if he was Serbian ,that country borders Rumania,

  3. When you draw and score an away goal, losing four goals at home only looked possible as soon as you had seen the Celtic team go up on the internet.

An astonishing lack of judgement left all the significant Celtic signings other than Elhamed out of the picture, and although this was a wily Romanian outfit, they couldn’t believe their luck having already failed to win in their own stadium.

From the kick off Celtic struggled but make no mistake the writing could have been on the wall when NFL announced that ‘he was happy’ with his squad before the Cluj game in Romania,’ and wouldn’t be signing anyone else.

Bizarre team selection aside, Celtic didn’t get going until after half time, but even when in front twice St Johnstone or Motherwell turning the clock back would have scored in the chasms through the return of the sieve.

Ballsy, press interviews go with the job, and blaming everyone else could be a feature of the season which so far has seen the fans hopes in the transfer market turn to dust, when the manager doesn’t trust the same players, he’s just signed?

No matter how much we analyse this game, one man is responsible Neil Lennon.. if we seriously had a board or major shareholder who cared he would be out of a job in the morning.

  5. ESPIRITODECELT

Nicely summed up. We had more than enough to get through this tie but we’ve conceded 4 at CP to Cluj.

That’s our manager’s fault. That simple. If Lennon is lucky he can use PL as his mudguard but in reality he’s thrown Lawwell under the bus tonight with a shocker of a team selection and game management.

  6. EDDIEINKIRKMICHAEL

He wouldn’t have been appointed in the first place.

I bet someone like Petrescu would jump at the chance to manage Celtic.

  7. I’ll be there for the cup match on Saturday . And any Europa games.

Bad results however they come about haven’t stopped me attending before and won’t stop me now.

  8. SuperSutton, indeed, well said.

    Win loose or draw.

Hard not to be disappointed tonight though.

    ——–

If Neil gets fired after 6 months its his fault; if Neil gets fired after two, its the board’s.

    @ SUPERSUTTON on 13TH AUGUST 2019 10:41 PM

Remember when Trump said he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and his base would still vote for him…that’s the equivalent for Celtic.

  11. Tonight’s game plan makes Ronnie D’s look like Pep’s

Don’t know how much longer I can persevere with this site, totally unusable. I’ve had to download the Firefox app and use that and it’s still a nightmare. Doesn’t work at all on safari.

    Not a good night.

  12. Concentrate on the league, if we made £10m from the Europa League, it would be added to the £70 m we already have, fkn pointless making money and not investing it in the team, tonight was both avoidable but predictable

THE HANDS CANT HIT WHAT THE EYES CANT SEE on 13TH AUGUST 2019 10:43 PM

He should never have been in a position to be fired in the first place, joke of an appointment.

  14. Superstition,I agree, but surely we deserve better players,2,on the bench tonight,at a cost of 10 million between them, neither the 2 of them at the races at the minute,Callum McGregor at left back, tried before never worked,2strikers on the bench Lennon puts one of them on with 12 minutes to go,the other 6 minutes to go,to me that’s bad coaching, and I think Bitton should have kept his place in the team, but we carry on,hopefully get a decent run in the Europa Cup.

  15. For all that I’ve said I still believe 9 is ours. The only risk to that would be us qualifying for Europa whole Sevco get pumped out leaving us playing Thurs/Sun for half a season.

Lennon claims tonights result will have an impact on his squad strengthing.

I have to be honest I have had doubts about his whole body language since the start of the season.

If he hasn’t realised it yet he is inadvertently doing what Peter wants.

    P. S. Our season has started weeks ago and our defense play hass more holes than a teabag.

    I’m not disagreeing.

  18. i'vehadtochangemymind on

This won’t be forgotten for a long time.

A couple of moons ago, I realised we couldn’t compete against the big teams in europe

Then, I hoped we could have a go at the europa

Recently, I realised that being involved in the europa was doing well

Now, I know that anything beyond Scotland is a pipedream

Cluj got 4 at CP, ffs

Br will be chuckiling away, stupid winker

Lennon is tonight’s scapegoat & yes,in terms of selection & tactics, he deserves some flak. But the bigger culprits are Lawwell & the board. Virtually every year they under-invest prior to the CL qualifiers- holding back to see if we make the group stage. No wonder we are failing

  20. What manager accepts a position with a club and doesn’t bring in his own staff , Neil Lennon. Sorry Neil do the decent thing resign and let PL explain why .

  21. HEKNOWSWHOKNOWS

I don’t think this defeat would affect the budget too much. Do we really believe that he would have been given a huge chunk of CL to spend in the next couple of weeks?

  23. Middle to front we are pure football.

Middle to back we are pure shit football.

    Bipolar team!

MWD I mean no offence to those dealing with Bipolarism.

    GeeBee,

Obviously not which is sad however the saddest part is Lennons acceptance.

  25. Just home from the game. Absolutely gutted. Couldn’t believe the starting line up, but also couldn’t believe that it wasn’t changed at half time.. I mean we did have a £3m left back on the bench did we not.

As my son says. Its all downhill from here I’m afraid

  26. Calling for Lenny to be fired after his first poor result is reactionary nonsense.

Yes I would place the major blame for the debacle at his feet but firing him after 2 games of regular season would be pure madness.

Up till tonight I was enjoying the football under Lenny but tonight was an absolute nightmare.

Even though Lenny did get the selection wrong, he wasn’t at fault for Brooney’s hand ball, wtf was he thinking about.

Every Celtic fan is gutted tonight but the season has only just started, there are plenty of games ahead and plenty to look forward to.

Plenty to worry about as well I agree but the World hasn’t come to an end because we are out of Champions League, I seem to remember we got knocked out at the same stage last year and the season wasn’t too bad on reflection.

  27. The Comfortable Collective on

Mantra every year is how hard it is for Celtic to qualify for the CL.

Truth is. Celtic should be qualifying EVERY year given their income and who they have to face in the four qualifiers.

The greatest trick the board have done is convince supporters that qualifying for the CL is some hard, difficult task.
