Aa wins a win I guess..

It’s a birthday present for my daughter who turns 11 in 49 minutes.

So there had better be no earthmoving antics for many years yet!

Omg the instructions ran to 30 pages! Pure zillions of wee dowels et al.

    Was my biggest ikea marathon!

  3. Doc,

Interestingly, KC was hobbling a bit when he came on pitch after game finished, must be carrying a slight injury ?

    Hail Hail

  4. the long wait is over on

Good result against a pretty decent European outfit.

Thought Izzy, again, looked back to near his old self.

Looks much trimmer than in the last few seasons.

Pretty sure there’s a connection there.

Mibbees that Ronny knows something after all..

  5. lionroars67

Agree with much of that. I’ve only read back a few pages and seen Johansen getting pelters, I thought he played really well tonight.

Dead right, who else even came close to scoring for us tonight?!

  6. pedrocaravanachio67 on

    Doc

Great goal….otherwise poor, having said that, would have him in the team all day long…..

  7. Justafan

Maribor aren’t doing too badly in Chelsea’s group.

Won’t be betting them v Jose’s team though, home or away!

  8. doc…

OK. Not unusual having a different perspective when watching TV or at the match!

    arran…

Yes…but a near full bottom tier looks much better than a scattering throughout.

    Funny innit?

Sometimes the game looks so different on tv versus live.

I like the kid but thought his stray passes put us under a lot of pressure at times.

You must apply the Moneyball theory to that statement about Lustig, Matthews and Forrest and tell us who is the least productive.

Then we will punt him for a better deal player to fit in with Ronny’s revolution :o)

    Exiled Tim,

I agree with you. Bale and Ronaldo apply themselves properly.

‘Anto’, LG and other wasters don’t.

    Hence poor control etc.

Having read the contradictory opinions of all our outfield players from tonight’s game – I don’t think it’s even a live versus televised distinction.

  17. Just in. Good gamete fitba.

First half we deserved lead with a few scares.

Second half ran around like headless chickens and worrying.

Still have to give management team time but worried about organisation, paicularly in second half. Amateur stuff at times. Thought Croatians deserved a point.

What an effort from both Brown and Johansen, they gave us energy drive commitment not to mention covering huge areas against a technically sound outfit who passed it well.

The system we deploy continues to be vulnerable to counter attacks and is weak defensively much work has to be done when we don’t have the ball

  19. jamesgang

His passing is poorer than it should be for a professional football but tonight I thought he mostly found hooped jerseys and that’s an improvement. His closing down play was very good as usual.

  20. Lionsroar67

The system looked to be working in the 1st half, better than we’ve seen

Don’t know what happened in 2nd half though, as there didn’t appear to be one, again

    Hail Hail

  21. Rwe

You could well be right. But I’m just aware that seeing the game live can give you both a far wider perspective but absence of detail (and replays).

  24. Jo Inge Berget badly needs a shave and haircut unless he’s auditioning for Jesus Christ: Superstar. (If he is, nail him to a tree, wait three days, and see if it makes him play like Maradona).

Best line on here for ages…

  25. Oh and what about that disgraceful pre match display from the Green Brigade?! :-)))

Tonev also had a good shift, good first half, second half, helping at the back.

  28. Murray to beat Cilic tomorrow and I can have real fun with my Croatian friends.

I thought it was a good competitive match played in a good spirit by both teams. Even Josip Simunic, the guy who is allowed 3 yellow cards before he gets sent off, behaved himself.

    Great goal by Commons.

  29. just in and havnt read back so dont know what is the mood –

    the good –

we won, 3 points, the quality of the goal, craig gordon, the faithful and the green brigade.

    the bad –

how many unforced errors and giving the ball aways. we were hanging on for the last twenty.

the formation just doesnt do it for me, we aint actually “offensive” or “intense”, its a hard watch.

    the mystery –

stefan j, last season i thought really came on to a game and was a key player, this season i think he looks like he has been told to do everything himself, and its no working.

ronni d keeps talking about them being tired , why are they ronni ? why ?

still a wins a win, take it all day.

  30. Just back from the game. Excellent. Victory. Craig Gordon.

Liked a lot of what Tonev was doing in tracking back, I expect good things from him in the future. Liked the Izzy / Wakaso combination. Izzy was the standout performer of the first half. Genius.

Liked Efe and Johansen. Both did exactly what was required of them. Efe with a booming clearing header from the final corner. Johansen with the lung bursting run near the end that he just couldn’t get the ball to sit for a strike. Super engines on both.

Broonie. What can you say? Looked to be all tired out. Got a difficult ball from Efe, lost it and they nearly scored. He was then re-energised. Inspirational.

Van Dijk. Magic. One bombscare moment but not one word was said against him. Because he is so majestic.

Denayer. Learning. His agility and pace often recovers his own mistakes. Like a lot.

Kris. Wow. Goal and a half. Beauty. But then everything he did seemed to be the wrong thing. Not least the wee pass inside to Stokes after robbing the keeper. Oh my!

Stokes. Not a good game for most of it. But actually improved in the last 15 minutes.

Subs. Again. Not what I would have done. But we won. So they must have been the right thing to do.

    Happy. You bet.

Bet? You say. A cheeky wee 8 fold both teams to score came in for me. £1 earned me £123.23. And I was down to my last £2 in the betting account. I guess it more than makes up for the £5 I had on a 3-2 victory for the hoops.

  31. Was thinking of that earlier HamiltonTim. Some on here had them hung drawn and quartered, for what they were going to do to-night. What they did was cheer the Celtic to victory. Hail Hail to The Green Brigade.

  32. HT

If I was going to be uber picky I’d say he closes well and quickly but then over commits and either bounces off the guy or overshoots.

Cf Broonie who gets there and gets the ball by hook, crook or knobbly knee!

But I’m too tired to be picky. Cot time.

BMCUW. Thanks you brought it home to me. Tonight, 11 years ago my life was very different.
