I wouldn’t call them wasters personally, but they have a lot to learn if they fancy themselfs as CL footy players, and I think this is what Ronny is getting at.

    Take Johansen, see if he could pass the ball, he would be playing for the likes of Barca, Real, Bayen he would be up there with the best on the planet, but he can’t, so he plays for us >}

I’ve seen Tonev praised and I must say I’m surprised.

I do think though that his covering play is better than most who’ve played in wide positions this season.

  3. oh, and whit about the 3 defenders all running to the guy on the ball on , leaving the striker on his own, did i really see that

The green brigade were a disgrace tonight, what with all that singing, supporting and occasional outbreaks of mild lateral movement.

I hope UEFA, FIFA, Interpol and the Simon Wiesenthal Centre all instigate investigations henceforth, forthwith, etc, something must be done.

    That was absolutely shambolic.

But IIRC none of the three were in their proper position as the defenders were elsewhere.

  8. Just in from the game.

Great 3 points. Craig Gordon outstanding as was our goal.

We’re going in the right direction and as BGX pointed out in an earlier post 2 teams from the ‘best league in the world; could only draw.

Our team worked their socks off tonight, rode their luck but deserve plaudits for getting us 3 points

Tonev, not brilliant, but definitely an improvement, looked busy both halves, but in different ways.

  10. Comment on TV that in excess of 28k at the game which would have been one of the biggest crowds at any Europa league game. So well done the Celtic support. Green Brigade immense and well done the team for an excellent victory against the best team we have played in Europe this season.

Glass most definitely half full. Some people need to have a word with themselves and give their heads a shake.

I will go to bed a happy Bhoy and wake up in the knowledge that my club has an unbroken history and paid our face painters.

  11. Good win and good atmosphere

Ronnie or Peter – please, please, please buy their No 16!

Thought he had a very good game playing in front of their back 4 !

Unless we start protecting our defence with a real defensive midfielder who can really play the role – we will lose games

Brown, Johansen and Kayal are all very willing and run about a lot but none of them know how to play the role properly

Ha, I believe someone will post critically that their singing spoiled their enjoyment of listening to the most recent Mozart download

  13. Just back from match. Plenty positives,

our goalkeeper is top notch, every player was if nothing else a good team mate(copyright WGS) and finally 3 points

    bagged.

We moved the ball quickly and are shooting

    more from outside the box.

A centre forward who is mobile and can

hold the ball up is imperative to EDs system.

Feeling more optimistic than a month ago.

  14. Rational Thought on

What is the stars clearly is xzenophobic. Much better shape and performance today.Better sub’s more energy and closed down better.Ronny has all the makings of a great manager.

    In Ronny we trust.

  19. Hi Timland

thought big Efe was a star tonight fed up with all the slagging he gets .

Izzy had a great first half, best so far

The cat well some fab saves.where are all the gobshites who slagged him.

cant see the the attraction with Johansen, runs about like a dug who is on heat

    only my opinion like.

You’re moving in to dangerous territory there, won’t hear a bad word against Wolfgang, visited his abode in Saltzburg and had to use his latrine….2 flushes later and all was gone.

Thought you’d be interested in ” the magic flute” with all it’s Masonic undertones?

    A very enjoyable listen.

“The three defenders running for the ball …….leaving the striker on his own”

It reminded me of the ads for the partially sighted football games were the ball has bells in it so that everybody playing has an idea where it is. Obviously the DZ striker must have been hard of hearing.

  22. BCW, that was a hot topic at CQN corner tonight, DimSam put it forward as an idea when our RB is fit, well one of our RB’s is fit, move Efe into CB and put Denayer into the midfield.

He can pass, tackle on both sides, can run with the ball, remind you of someone?

Agree with much of that. I’ve only read back a few pages and seen Johansen getting pelters, I thought he played really well tonight.

Dead right, who else even came close to scoring for us tonight?!

I also thought he played well, especially 2nd half.Seems once you are a whipping boy, nothing shifts it.

Get Denayer into midfield please !

    —-

    Agree 100%

Tin hat time – great footballer not great defender (yet- and I know he’s only 19) cos his slight positional errors are magnified at centre back.

    Holding mid. Potentially amazing.

    But would ManCity allow it?
