Good, fair and balanced post, but I would disagree that “26 shots at goal with 7 on target” was a positive. I thought the shooting/decision-making re. shots last night was pretty poor throughout from just about every player. Not singling Armstrong out (thought he was one of our best players last night), but that snap shot of his from the edge of the box near the end of the game was really poor; for a player of his ability, with that amount of time and space, you would expect him to control then shoot, not balloon the ball well over. Summed things up for me.

Ah well, onwards the Tims go!

We’re ten points clear and have another triple in sight with a squad of talented footballers. There is light! Sure, I wish we had put the ball in the net a few times but all that happened is that we drew with Dundee and didn’t play up to the expected standard.

  3. Looking through the football results across Europe just there and I noticed that there is a team in Serie C in Italy called Fermana.

I had a look but I’m not sure which division Tyrone play in…

I am sure some Tim electrician could subtly install that in the house of a rabid Hun !

    Cheerio for now.

    Inclined to agree with Auldheid.

The team has been disjointed for most of the season. I put that down to the ridiculous amount of long term injuries to our creative players.

They are now back to fitness ,but are obviously short of match sharpness and there is only one way to get that.

This results in regular changes in selection, which obviously interrupts continuity and sometimes balance.

There is also the need at this stage of the season to look ahead and to see who is in the plan and who is not.

For our part, we are often guilty of spending our “emotional currency” before we have earned it.

By this I mean that we go into games like last night, counting the three points in the bag.

This extends to thinking that the league will be won on X date, when we beat Y.

We have already celebrated 7 i-a -r and cheerfully announcing ten.

We take far too much for granted.

As the poet and philosopher, Kenneth Rodgers (no relation) once said,

“There’ll be time enough for countin’, when the dealin’s done.

  6. When you read so many posters taking ‘positives’ from last nights performance, when none exist, you know a cover up is going on.

Lets not kid ourselves, there was little difference between what we endured last night and what we seen exactly 2 years ago with a RD team v the same opposition with the same outcome. The stay away crowd is the most telling thing and I genuinely cannot blame folk for avoiding certain home games, where the entertainmnet value is almost guaranted to be very little.

No one is calling for BR head, his remarkable work last season gives him a bye, but make no mistake, things have to improve performance wise and we desperarely need a Plan B, when the passing game is negated by deep defending and persistent fouling to disrupt it.

The next 4 months is where BR will earn his corn. There may be some more pain beforehand.

The point I was making (not clearly) is that we created 26 chances last night; the shooting was poor. On another night we would have scored a few! I would be worried if we weren’t creating chances.

Good shout JJ. There were a good few chances and a couple of good saves from their keeper.

THOMTHETHIM FOR OSCAR OK on 5TH APRIL 2018 11:10 AM with a realistic perspective and SAN LUIS on 5TH APRIL 2018 11:14 AM who is way overboard IMHO.

It was a cold one last night and disappointing that we didn’t win but it was light years ahead of the 0-0 game against Dundee in March 2016 where we had only 11 chances created.

Referees appointed for the Scottish Cup semi-finals:

Motherwell v Aberdeen – Kevin Clancy

Celtic v Rangers – Bobby Madden

A contributory factor, IMO, which influenced performance last night and which has been largely ignored on the blog was the ‘game management’ by the referee. Many, many niggling fouls blown up for but no action taken. Not giving us fouls in decisive areas with ‘pretend’ advantages that were no-way an advantage. Pulling us back to award us a foul when we had broken away. I thought he was second only to Brother Beaton (home game v. St. Johnstone) in the game-management stakes.
