The rumours are circulating re Neil to Newcastle as well as Neil to Norwich. I suspect they are unfounded.
Re Jackie, I’d sincerely hope not. I agree that he has done quite well at smaller clubs, but 16 wins, 10 draws and 12 losses with Dundee Utd, finishing 10 points adrift of 3 rd placed Aberdeen does not give him a strong enough cv for the hoops job in my opinion.
His Lack of European experience would also concern me.
I suppose a counter argument would be that Neil had no experience when appointed, but I’d argue that his naivety has been evident in Europe on a number of occasions.
Would Jackie win the title? Undoubtedly. Then again, so would John Hughes, John Collins, Stuart McCall, Derek McInnes but again it would be their ability to succeed in Europe that would concern me.
Celtic are a massive club. A massive club needs a manager of some standing. If and when Neil goes, I hope the board remember that and appoint the best available for the job.

HT – yes, please append my name – I would be honoured.
Also to say thanks to all in CQN for your friendship and company over the last two weekends. The Hootenanny was an amazing coming together of kindred spirits, brilliant company, amazing minds and heartwarming generosity.
And to keep things rolling, “Hootenanny II – The Roseburn” took place this afternoon.
On an invitation from LiviBhoy to share more anecdotes and alcohol, I detoured to that now famous wateringhole and enjoyed the craic – and winding up the Hibee fans (sorry again Mrs LiviBhoy!).
And with NFL announcing the possibility of friendly games at Murrayfield, I have upgraded the plans for the Gazebo / Marquee to accommodate visiting CQNers in July.
Was also thinking that we words of “We shall not be moved” should be changed to…
“We shall not be played, by the Hertz, the Hibs or the Sevco …”

I agree with a lot of your points regarding Jackies lack of experience, maybe his record, but like some players improve when they go to a bigger club, maybe the same logic can be applied to managers, in that I mean better resources, better facilities etc I’m being a little biased I loved him when he played for Celtic, I also like the way he conducts himself, like oot Neil, he is a very articulate, intelligent individual.
As for other candidates, I’m scratching my head to think of any, I know we area massive club, but are the top top coaches going to come to Celtic Park ?
As for Newcastle, please no, I think even Lenny knows that would be a poisoned chalice

Farewell Giorgios Samaras,
Not many Celtic strikers can say they scored in the Camp Nou in two consecutive years!
Some vital big-game goals over the years, in Moscow in 2009 v Dynamo and again in 2012, v Spartak. Not to mention the two goals at Ibrox in New Year 2011 when we were really up against it with injuries and indifferent form.
I remember his crucial headed goal v Motherwell at Fir Park in the 2nd last game of the Helicopter Thursday 2007/08 season which sealed a great comeback to give us a 2-1 win that was the difference between winning the league or not.
He made a fool of Barry Ferguson by pretending to throw the ball at his ugly coupon at point blank range in a game at Ibrox.
His form was unpredictable but when on his game he gave us some priceless moments.
After today`s game he said:- “I am leaving Celtic, but Celtic will never leave me.”
Good luck Giorgios and thanks for the memories.

I agree regarding big Sammy, that goal against Motherwell was vital in us winning the league in 2008, but also his goal in a 1-0 home win against Aberdeen also as important in that run in.
Last weekend I suggested MSM would tout Neil Lennon for the West Ham job and through the week mentioned David Moyes was being lined up for Newcastle job. Same people reckon Steve Clarke for Celtic’s next manager. No idea if any truth in these rumours but that is what is being said.
One other thing the reason Neil wants away – they are saying – is that he’s had enough if life in Glasgow. Nothing to do with the job.
