Great chat from posters on Sammi-gate. I think the club have got this one just about right in freeing up what is probably a considerable wage to spend elsewhere. Also really pleased with the reception he got today with the crowd responding to his introduction.
NL, John Park, Peter Lawwell & co have to ask if 30-33 year old Sammi would make the same contribution over the next few seasons that 23-29 year old Sammi made? I doubt it. And we’ve all been frustrated at times with younger more athletic Sammi at times so I can’t see older, slower Sammi becoming better overnight?
And they also then have to come up with a better alternative with the budget… Jury out on that given overall hit/miss rate on forwards recently, but getting it right more often than not is why they are paid the big bucks and I’m pretty sure they’ll get there eventually. We pay our money, we take our chances in the market we’re operating in.
Great contribution over recent seasons from Sammi, particularly in Europe, but time to shake hands, wish him the best for the World Cup and beyond and move on.

Just home. Congrats to Citeh – the best team in the EPL even if I wanted the Reds to win it. Don’t really like the EPL but I thought this was a fine season
Lovely afternoon at CP . Excellent atmosphere and after a dull first half good stuff in the second half. Sammi? Enough is probably enough – 74 goals in 252 games suggests an underperformer. But when he was good…He was rather good. Good luck to the big Greek Ghod- ya big daftie.

Best player in your opponents side
The media only ask that question in the first place because an informed manager will know from the opposition who has the biggest ego.
If the actual best player in the team has no ego, or is a team man, an informed manager will respond that it’s what we do on the pitch that counts, not our opponents.
Informed manager use such comments to disrupt the opposition, not to help them win.

I took a moment on the final whistle just as the jubilation reached its height and saw a sea of colour (those flags made the difference) green & white clad men women and children of the celtic family with utter happiness on the faces of many in our packed home celebrating another title win and this wee text I got not long ago popped into my head.
” Happiness is not a matter of good fortune or worldly possessions,Its a mental attitude .
It comes from appreciating what we have, instead of miserable about what we dont have.
Its so simple ,yet so difficult for some to comprehend”.
Today I was a happy Tim ,soak up every second of it as we are living in good times:)))
My first concern today was First Communions, so I missed getting to the game. When I eventually tuned into the game, the atmosphere and the respect shown to our little hero expressed for me all that is good about the Celtic family.
I will refrain from joining in the Sammy debate, but I took note of what Aiden Bhoy said to his lad about how some of us had to wait along time for such joyful moments. As I am old enough to have lived through the Tully, Collins, Evans, etc. era, I am grateful for the good times, but I have stood my ground during the tough times (even those when I did not know I was being cheated out of trophies). So enjoy today and I am sure there is more to come.
