Georgios Samaras ,all the best big ghuy ,good luck in the world cup.
Celtic having swapped all the penny caramels for two strikers and a winger as yet to make a significant impression on the first team may be playing the game a wee bit mair cautiously this year!
There is no way we are going to pay Sammi, Pukki, Derk, Amido, Griffo, Anto, Jamesy, Kris and possibly one new man are we?
Good luck Sammi you scored some cracking goals for us and you got our club but we needed more of that from you Big Man, Celtic Strikers need to be heroes as well as Ghods!!

We’re not that far apart. Lenny doesn’t use Sammi in the league to any great extent, but he’s first on the team sheet for European games. Look at his stats. It’s quite marked actually.
He’s decided to use his budget elsewhere. Budget comes down from above.
I’m sure Lenny would have liked to keep Sammi for Europe, but we (he) don’t have that luxury.

Biggest lesson from Sammi affair is. When, club, player and especially player’s agent can’t agree quickly, then punt player before transfer window in which his contract runs out. A few bob is better than nothing.

Sad to see Sammi go.
But don’t think he merited a 3 year contract on 15-20 grand a week.
Also think his replacement is lined up (Snodgrass).

Quonno – you miss the fact that said player in post Bosman world can sit it out thus getting themselves more money with new club.
And in a short career it’s what the Sammy’s if the world need to do and that is get the best deal.

Celtic will only get Snodgrass if they are prepared to pay the price and the price will only be right for Celtic if nobody else is interested.

Agree with you in general.
However, had it, as some of think it should have been, Sammi had it spelled out to him November that if he did not accept a new contract he would serve out the remainder of his contract in the stand: he would then have had to consider his world cup chances.
Some can question if that is the way to treat an apparently loyal player. However is serving one’s own interests the way that a player should trat a loyal club and its fans?

Big Sammi will always split opinions. I like the big guy but also found him very frustrating at times. With 71 caps for Greece he must be doing something right. If he is being allowed to go because of the financials fair enough but please, Celtic, stop wasting money on guys who are not fit to lace Sammi’s boots, Rasmussen, Murphy, Bangura and our present ‘Project for the Future’ to name but a few. We will not be replacing him with anyone that has European knowhow because that does not come cheap.
On another note I reckon that Suarez will be in Chelski shirt next season. He fits Mourinho’s job description to a T – prolific goal scorer with a penchant for diving and cheating.
Just been reading that if Barca win their 2 remaining games, hey win their league. Normally, I would be delighted with that. But I had a thought: in our recent games against them at Parkhead, they should have had 2 players sent off, while we had 1, in large measure because Barca had a wee cheat playing for them. Nah. I hope Atletico win.

The plain truth of the matter is that we have too many players who do not make a significant contribution to our season
Sammi never hides when he plays but the fact is we cannot afford to pay such high wages for someone who continued to be so inconsistent
He leaves with our best wishes
We also should cut loose a number of others IMHO
DB – showed nothing after first 30 minutes and his first injury -punt
TP – despite scoring goals still looks out of place and unhappy -punt
AB – seems to be carrying the can for Wednesday -we never play to his strengths – so punt
BK – needs a new start somewhere – punt
If it was my shout they would be joined by the likes of Griffiths and Stokes both of whom will continue to get themselves into trouble off the park
Stokes and Griffiths have talent but not the mental attitude to be top players
KC – should not be given a three year contract – he’s had a great season but lacks the pace for Europe
I would prefer us to promote from within – hopefully cherry pick the best Scottish talent -like the lad Armstrong from DU – and add the likes of Snodgrass who’s a CFC fan as well as a good player
If Lenny is staying then the choice of a new assistant will tell us a lot about our ambition
The one disappointment today was the lack of a mention for big Johann -guy has been terrific for us and his contribution should have been recognised

Terrific that Sammi got the send off he deserves and scored.
