It is great to live through great historic moments in our clubs history. I just hope our young supporters will be able in the future to also live great moments. For someone who was in Lisbon in 1967, has been to two other European Finals and so many great finals and championships, I just hope life for us as Celtic Supporters will continue to give us more fond memories. Tonight is a night for rejoicing. Tomorrow the analysis of the game can take place. Off to celebrate with a gin and tonic.

  4. Cup fitba’ eh!

That aged me 20 years……..and some.

Delighted for Neil – the game represents the end of an era. Delighted for Celtica. The Huns wont equal that. Scotland should be proud of Our Great Club, and what we’ve achieved.

Hard to believe that some were trumpeting the sentiments of Shortie and questioning the significance of the Cup???

    Hunbelievable.

I’m off to continue my celebrations into the night. Looks like someone’s on to stir it up and provoke Celtic supporters.

Congratulations to Celtic FC on a historic triumph today! Enjoy your night y’all! 🍀🍀🍀

Young Celtic keeper Conor Hazard with just three appearances to his name has won more major domestic competitions than Rangers captain James Tavernier, who’s made 271 appearances in the last five and a half seasons.

  7. A fitting end to a great team

The team is gone now. We are a squad of subs. Not a single position has a name nailed onto it

No players know what we want to do on the pitch, how we want to play and what that means for them

The club, management, players, fans, board need to hold all hands up and say we are in transition from now on

We haven’t known how to manage an unprecendented spl and global period

  9. I posted after the game about the foul on Hazard for the second goal. Nothing was made of it on the BBC. The referee missed it. The linesman missed it. The official behind the goals missed it.

All of the above are normal. Unfortunately so is the propensity of our players to accept it. Keeper, Brown and other senior players should have been in the referees face.

    Would VAR have missed it?

At the very least it would have been reviewed. And everyone watching would see it was a foul,

  10. And it cheers us up when we know the Scottish Cup is coming home to rest in Paradise, or should that say hasn’t left Paradise for the past 4 years or since the hibbees sent eat the breid back homeward tae think again.

We have now won the Cup a record 40 times which is 7 times more than deidco and 40 times more than sevco.

Aye today wisnae pretty but what else can you expect fae cheatin beaton, who I never saw crack a smile the day which is unusual for any ref who like tae banter with the players, well that’s any ref other than r ight h un davidshun, and the hackin of the calvinists with hiram halliday and naeclass dishing it out.

Incidentally while with the templars a young naeclass almost signed for us, a fee was agreed and he was ready tae put pen tae paper until naesurname sent chauncey down tae tell him tae hold off until they could put some funds together, he finally signed for them 19 seconds before the windae closed.

So as I said not only did we attain an unprecedented quadrebel but also 4 in a row.

As a wee loddie I was always told that we were a Cup team, which may have been as a result of ure-primrose pledging the huns to the craft, this effectively allowed deidco alongside the lonesome boatman struth tae recruit among the ranks of the 3rd knuckle rubbers and the newly strengthened lol.

They did not recruit players only but fans, business associates, tradesmen, clerks, accountants’, policemen, judicial officers of the court and most importantly the smsm who would champion the cause of the loyal and true club quietly in some places and vocally fae the terracing and modern stands.

Until then we had won 16 Titles and 10 SC, although numerous teams won the Cup in a span of 25 years between the end of WWI and the start of WWII deidco would claim 16 Championships, coincidence. Govan Shipbuilders sporting division also won the 1st post war title.

So a Cup team is what we became as we only won 4 titles until the honest and truthful NIAR. In reality they wurnae that good either as if they had the likes of Jock at the helm instead of the “lonesome boatman” they would have amassed 42 IAR.

As it was we also lost 18 Finals, the following is a summary of those I can actually remember:

Clyde 1 Celtic 0 after a replay – First ever televised Cup Final which I watched in the wee wummin downstairs oul black and white tele while her son was at the game with my da. Coronation Bonnar with a blunder cost us in the first game although Frank Meehan, who was never a regular starter after that, got the blame.

Calvinists 3 Celtic 1 – Gubbed by a really good jambo side although if the truth be told Sir Bob once again interfered with the line up. Former Sacred Heart schoolbhoy Jim Sharkey who had opened the scoring against the holders Bully Wee in the semi was dropped after being seen having a sherry with Charles Patrick at Seamill on the lead up to the game. Ironically his partner in crime played though.

Peter Goldie who had been told he was in the 11 as regular right back former Commando Captain Mike Haughney was moved forward as Bob tried to emulate his feat of 2 years previously when Sean Fallon was played at centre and scored the winner against the sheep, was also left out at the last minute to be replaced ironically by Frank Meehan.

Youngster Billy Craig who only played 9 games in his 4 years with the club, one in the cup, was drafted in to accompany right back Mike on the right wing while .

Dunfermline 2 Celtic 0 after a replay – How did that happen, well Celtic supporter Eddie Connachan played the games of his life. Again another Bob blunder by playing Wullie O’Neill in the replay for the appendix stricken Jim Kennedy in the replay while club captain Peacock, who had been injured in the 1-1 draw with Hibbees, was turning out for the black north that same night.

Deidco 3 Celtic 0 after a credible 1-1 draw where george davidshun commented on seeing why Celtic played that wee bhoy that Bob decided tae drop in the replay for inside forward Bobby Craig who had never played on the wing in his whole career.

That night the Celtic end emptied as the huns chanted “Celtic ha ha ha”, we became know in the advent of the swinging 60’s as Bob Kelly and the Easybeats.

Deidco 1 Celtic 0 another replay, another one of WTF happened there as Stevie, the Bear and Joe McGoals all seemed shot shy that night as a plethora of chances were set up by our Link Mhen McKellar and Watt aka Bobby Murdoch and wee ten thirty. A big blooter by lurpack who was on his way out gave him a reprieve.

Aberdeen 3 Celitic 1, r ight h un davidshun’s finest afternoon as he climbed the “great chain of being”.

Deidco 3 Celtic 2 – there was nae way we were going tae be allowed tae win this with a royal princess in attendance, once again honest mistakes were the order of the day as the mitb was suspended by the scottish freemason association 5 years later for taking gifts from AC Milan prior to the 2nd leg of a UEFA game.

I did say tae my da as we left the ground that afternoon that mibbees it was time for Bog Billy tae hang up his boots as Alfie Conn gave him a 10 yard start and then raced by him for the equaliser.

2 years later Billy did just that and I left the country 7 weeks later and never attended a live cup final after that.

Saw many more via satellite including the sheep penalty shoot out and Dr Jo, Phil O’Donnell and Sid’s last game, although we competed well with an injury hit squad with the bonkle bigot in charge of the latter we never had a chance

Can’t comment on the 2002 Final as I chose tae work a 10 hour shift at double bubble that day so I’ll leave that to others.

So out of the 8 runners up finals that I can recall Sir Bob’s interference as well as honest mistakes cost us dearly.

Still disnae stop me gloating right now, as my da used tae say 1 -0 is sometimes as good as 10, so a penalty shoot out with a game littered with honest mistakes is just as good.

BTW I doubt if cheatin beaton will be welcome in the crown bar or his local ludge of the former is closed the night.

In your opinion should Neil stay or go ?

For me .. I am 100% behind our manager …

and Martin O’Neill agrees with me :-)

  12. Well done Celtic and Lenny.

Lenny an absolute legend who suffered more than any individual should have .thank you

The time has come now to change things ,we need a new broom to sweep away theProblems.

It is there for all to see ,the first half we dominated, the second we could not answer the questions ask of us by the Hearts manager change of tactics ,seriously worrying.

We will not win the league losing 2/3 goals per game .

Lenny walk away on a high ahah

  13. Neustadt,

Hazard posted a pic of himself recently, at about 10 years of age in his Celtic Jersey, wide eyed with excitement at his first game in Parkhead.

So he for one is telling the truth about being a life long Supporter.

Struggling whether to include him in my Jobo 3,

Thought he was poor at the goals but he was being obstructed & messed about &getting no protection from Ref & he did save 2 penalties that won us the quadtreble.

I’ve just convinced myself he makes my Jobo3.

  14. Magic stuff, and a great way to end a horrible year

Now seems like a good time to take a winter break, so Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New year to everyone on CQN

  15. How on earth did all the officials miss the blatant foul on Hazard by naismith

Red card ross would have flagged vigourously for it……….wouldnt he.?

  17. PHILCOOL

The old grandmaster Shug Dallas saw a shove on the the goalie before it even happened .

  18. Can the Club now speak out about the likes of that second goal of theirs being awarded, although it is quite obvious that Naismith took our goalkeeper out. How could all those officials miss it. It is almost as bad as those officials missing the goal-line “save” by the ICT defender a couple of years ago.

As for Naismith, as the commentator said at the time, he could have avoided standing on our captain’s knee. He should be sine died, the wee cheatin’ git.

I won’t say anymore about Beaton. Surely, he was chosen deliberately to try to stop us making history.

We won the Cup today. I grew up seeing us losing way too often. Let us enjoy tonight. We have just witnessed something which will probably never be equalled, never mind bettered.

    WE SHALL NOT BE MOVED.

  19. Mikey Johnston…. Respect to you young man.

Scott Brown… Great hunger at the 3rd goal.

Pleased for every Celtic fan going to work tomorrow.

    Big game on Wednesday now.

  20. Lenny has never walked away from anything in his life …

    He won’t start now

Since breaking a bone (?) in his back as a young kid at Crewe our manager has defied all odds and he will keep doing what he does …

Neil & Celtic are a terrific fit

The day he leaves I will be a bit sad

Nobody is bigger than the club but some are part of fabric :-)

  21. During my 70+ years I thought had seen it all.Today left me knackered and drained I must confess eyes shut for the last penalty. Well done Neil and the team and thanks .I think its the nd of an era, that’s not for today.

    Hail Hail,

  22. PCS

It’s when we’re winning is when we should call out these decisions – don’t hold your breath

  23. As much as I loved the result , Conor Hazard is not good enough , he gifted Hearts two goals today.

A goalkeeper should be clearing everyone out within 10 yards in his box, he looked absolutely useless !! Neil Lennon made a big mistake using him today …..I hope he gets some confidence from today but have severe doubts ………..

  24. Enjoying a few glasses of champagne 🥂 anybody who can’t enjoy today doesn’t enjoy being a Celtic supporter

  25. Gene,

I won’t be holding my breath but we really should call the cheating out when we win because it has been the norm all my life. It’s beyond a joke and we have lost Cups and vital points over too many years.

Just caught your earlier good wishes. Thanks pal. I’m having a bookie. What a brilliant, historic win today. When we were 2-0 up today I wanted us to annihilate them 5-0+ but in the end to win in a jammy penalty shootout when we conceded the advantage made our win ever so sweet because you could imagine the celebrations and goings-on in households up and down the country when Ryan missed his penalty. Step up to the plate young Conor Hazard.

    Have a great night AT!

    Hail! Hail!

  27. My bloody Telly froze just as Ajer was going to take the kick, I had to rush to a WhatsApp Group chat to confirm we won.

When I saw a rerun later I was glad he took my advice, Hammer it as hard as you can down the middle.

Still can’t decide my 3rd pick for Player of the game.

Brooney & Hazard are in, Ajer & Turnbull are in the mix.

Thought Ajer had a great first half but was taken to the cleaners for Jambo’s first,

Apart from that he did well.
