They will get the countries co-efficient points if they do, not much benefit though, accounts who would ask to see them?

Eddie, there have been bad referees, there have been incompetent referees, tere have been bigoted referees and there have been biased referees — there there was Mike McCurry.

Never have I heard so many decent, reasonable, rational but outraged and offended people talk about the one man in identical terms ” He is just a blatant and unrepentant cheat”.

That is his legacy in Scottish Football.

What I thought was interesting at the end of that clip was Terry Butcher saying ” we have all been here, when we come to Ibrox, we have all asked the question “Why do Rangers get everything?””.

There you go — must be something to it eh?

Someone mentioned a thing I’d never thought about re McCurry the other day. With him being a protestant minister and also a referee no one would ever question his faith as being an obstacle in his right to referee a game of football between any 2 clubs. However what would the reaction of the good people of Scotland if a priest was to take up refereeing and was awarded a Celtic v Sevco game?

AS one or two of you may know, I’ve taken the Celtic Colours, Flag and Songs to some mad, bad and occasionally dangerous parts of the world………

I’ve waved the standard in higher places, but never in such an Iconic location..

    I AM SERIOUSLY JEALOUS!

  5. Was the very reverend referee also found guilty of playing away from home?

Not only a cheat at refereeing……………………………

    EddieinK…

There is unlikely to be a priest, but there is a Catholic RK teacher and look at the way he’s viewed on net and by the wider support.

If there was a priest there would be calls on here for him to defrocked and excommunicated.

    Hail hail

  11. I have posted this before, but a good friend of mine had reason to use Rev McCurry’s services in his pastoral role. He found him to be a great comfort in a difficult time and a solid citizen. After. A few meetings the diversionary chat led to football matters as my mate is a lifelong St Mirren fan. He was party to a few stories about the way the Lanarkshire Mafia ran the SRFA and as a non participant in the gang, McCurry knew he was on the outside looking in.

  12. The Resolute Mr Pastry on

As I have always said, I respect the right of a group of shareholders to put forward a properly constructed resolution to the Celtic AGM and, for a satisfactory mutual outcome to be reached.

What I have taken issue with is the role being played by ‘fellow-travellers’, who have used the resolution, and its surrounding noise, as a blunt instrument with which to beat our CEO and the board.

This could be very damaging to Celtic and cause a permanent schism to develop in the support. Some who have ‘jumped on the bandwagon’ are even suggesting all sorts of sanctions against Celtic – boycotts etc – for what? – being the victims of a scam.6

The Ibrox club, who have almost sold out Hampden for a ‘two-bit’ cup final against Peterhead, are exhibiting a ‘coming together’ in the face of the most humiliating four years in their long occupation of the Govan stadium.

Celtic, on the other hand, with a proud unbroken history and an exemplary record in running a professional and honest club, are being niggled and nipped at, by a ‘fifth column’ within our support.

Yesterday, was a good news day at Celtic Park – a good crowd, in a good mood – there is no doubt that this backing and positivity spilled its way on the the park and inspired the players.

There will be an answer to Res12 in time, whether it is the answer that some on here are looking for, I can’t say – however we, as a support, must, pull together and get behind the squad and the club – to do other is playing into the hands of those who would do, and have done, us harm.

Am sure (I have been known to be incorrect) the team gets allocated a UEFA placing, more than sure Fiorentina lost their UEFA history once reformed

I read your post with alarm.

My Bhoy plays under 14 for Livingston FC as goalkeeper and plays on these Astro turf/3G /4G pitches every week.

Pumped 6-1 today by ICT BTW

Surely if there is any concern with these pitches then a full enquiry must happen and games must not be allowed to happen?

Can u point me towards your article ?

I will certainly raise it with his coaches.

    Many thanks for raising it

Centre 1 is probably the worst working environment I have ever experienced mainly due too, it was Spring 2008 not the best personal time with my mother passing but at least I had a right few quid on Zenit St Petersburg at 11/8 to lift the UEFA cup

  16. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

J Mccormick, needless to say there is no need to guess who the head of the Lanarkshire refs association is and mist grade 1 refs belong to it, one of whom is his son.

  17. Man utd v Everton is mince.

Two outdated coaches with no attacking bent.

There are plenty of talented and skillful attacking players on view for both sides and all stifled by negative coaching.

If Everton want to spend money under their new part owner then they should not do with Martinez as coach.

He has proven that what happened to Wigan was not bad luck.

Everton will go the same way if they retain him.

  18. I read the match report in both the Sunday Mail and The Sunday Herald both were surprisingly honest that the challenge on Tom Rogic was dangerous and intended to cause harm.

My opinion was that it was actually a life threatening attack, disgraceful.

No surprise that Wee Rat Face McCann thought that it was a fair challenge and not worth a yellow but felt that Neil Lennon agreed with him or at least didn’t disagree

  19. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

J Mccormick, I was at a showing of the Asterisk Years by Paul Larkin. After it was shown, Paul mentioned that he was making enquiries into the Lanarkshire Refs Association and the Shugster was still the main man in it. He felt the association had to much influence at the SFA.

Madden is a.member of the Lanarkshire Ref Association.

  20. Craigellachie10 on

An article today reported McInnes hailing the form of his four midweek internationalists three of whom could be palying in the Euros – McGinn, Hayes and Church. It got me thinking back to Euro 2008 the last Euro championships when Rangers FC was still an actual thing.

Outwith Celtic who had two players at the Euros (Artur & Jan VoH), only one Scottish based player was selected – Marius NIculae of ICT.

Post Armageddon and we have three from one provincial club – maybe Scottish fitba didn’t need a manky cheating club after all.

I doubt Neil needs the money but I realise he kept mentioning “old firm” for me he is the one person who should never make a deal of the cheats…….life and his family are far more important not saying let the bullies win but they hate him….not loathe totally hatred

Me, I love Lenny some forget he left the EPL and took a wage cut to join MON and beat the cheats

He is unemployed, except the fees he will get from Sky if he, err, behaves himself.

For him to talk about the Old Firm means to me that he is, well, not the man I loved a while back.

    Shame.

But he wouldn’t be the first Celtic legend to pander to the dark side.

  25. Great entertainment from the T20 final, 19 runs needed from 6 balls and yer man Braithwaite hits 4 sixesfrom the first 4 balls.. A giant of a man in all ways.

Sensational stuff at the Cricket World cup final.

Anyone who thinks cricket is boring just watch that last over.

The celebrations are pretty good too.

A great double for the W.Indies.

Playing to the audience, otherwise saying what some would like to hear….

No judgement from me, Lenny is a legend to me, I can make my own mind up and don’t need to hear others…..is it disappointing ? Maybe, would it bring grief to Neil Lennons family, most definitely ….. Each to their own, am happy with what I know

Fellow Celtic fans good night and God bless (the wee boss wants her iPad)

  28. I heard the post match comments on Sky yesterday, very sorry to say but Mr Lennon was in almost total agreement with the rat McCann, he NL said if the Hearts player who received a second booking and then sent off in injury time was correct then Scott Brown should at least have seen yellow in 4 minutes, he also was scathing about the performance of the Celtic midfield , and said our players need this semi final against them.

I was fuming but I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised as some people need the media to keep their profile up in the hope they will be re employed somewhere, but very disappointed all the same in him
