Anyway, could’ve been worse, as in Partizan Belgrade worse, when we threw a great match away in the last minute. With no way back or chance to atone.
At least we get another chance to defend and pass properly next week, which might get us through.

If anybody thinks Adam Matthews would have done better than Efe Ambrose at stopping the attack down the right hand side then I suggest they watch footage of maribor’s goal at Celtic park last season which also came after lustig went off injured.
Cowiebhoy on
Ok some other observations from tonight’s game
Stuart Armstrong told the bench he was struggling hence that substitution – thought GMS was poor when he came on
Leigh Griffith stated in an interview I heard on radio driving back, that he also hurt his foot, kicked a players boot, so played a part in his substitution – Ciftci was poor, really will struggle as no game time, so match fitness will be poor, could have brought on Kris Commons ?
Unfortunate in Mikael Lustig injury, Efe was poor as his replacement, gave ball away a couple of times and missed tackle for last minute corner
Nir Biton was holding hamstring at end of game
James Forrest also had an ankle injury, but finished the game
So looks likely a few struggling for next week ( and this weekend)
Do we play Janko as right back next week or Fisher ?
Do we play Charlie at Left Back ? Malmö did seem to target Izzy tonight ?
A lot of questions for us next week
But
We are ahead, and only need a draw, which in tonight’s evidence is achievable

Three significant injuries, to major contributors to our cause, plus Bitton legless for the last ten minutes, did not help tonight. Enforced changes disrupted our rhythm.
GMS was never ready to take over at left mid.
Leigh was on a hat trick, why even consider Cifti to replace him?
Lustig is one of our best players, when fit; no one would play Efe before a fit Lustig.

The sieve is back. 6 goals conceded in a week against very moderate opposition isn’t anywhere near good enough. Make no mistake, Malmo were very ordinary opposition. They were workmanlike, uninspiring and mistake ridden. Then so were we, sloppily gifting possession under no pressure on a number of occasions. Eventually we were going to get punished and we did from Brown’s poor header. We managed to make Berget look a player, which we weren’t capable of when he actually played for us. Ambrose is a walking disaster. Everyone groaned when poor Lustig (who was having an excellent game) pulled up and Ambrose came on. He then managed to get nutmegged 4 times in 10 minutes, eventually leading to the corner and second goal. Also, classically, gave away possession in a dangerous area under no pressure. He is a bad football player. From a tactical point of view it was criminal to concede from the last kick of the ball. We should have been able to run down the clock. Positives for me were Griffiths (outstanding in all aspects, especially impressive in winning headers all night), Gordon, Boyata, Van Dijk and Forrest (attitude was brilliant). Lustig too before injury and I’m really pessimistic if Ambrose starts next week. He’s always good to gift a goal. I thought they targeted Izzy as weak link, but thought he had a good game apart from diving in early on. Armstrong had his moments, but was a serial offender in conceding possession cheaply. He’s a prospect, but needs to learn from this. GMS made a difference when he came on, but Ciftci didn’t, at least not in a positive way. He’s shaping up as the new Darren Jackson…. Not a patch on Griffiths, who always looked dangerous on the shoulder of defenders? Ciftci is always coming short and he has neither the skill nor pace to do anything from that position. I hope Ronny does it next week, but I’m not hopeful. I predict 2-1 Malmo and sorry to say because I really like Ronny, but that would be an epic fail. Malmo are highly beatable and Celtic should be beating Malmo. No excuses.
