The good ole BBC they can’t even get our score right on most of their articles except 1, league table has our GD as 8, they really are pathetic

I for one will revel especially in their hun tears come the end of the season

Today really harked back to the great setanta days when I hadn’t a clue of the score! It was great getting the updates cqn: I couldn’t bear listening to the radio!

  5. Relieved & Happy we got the 3 points,

First half we created very little but a bit of brilliance by CalMac & Jamesie redeemed the half.

Second half the shape was better & we started to dominate but Motherwell self destructed a bit as well, there were 3 or 4 dreadful cock ups that we failed to capitalise on.

James played a lot better when switched, Frimpong has the X factor, We need to see more of him.

I love Brooney but he shouldn’t be playing every game,

A little bit of the feel good factor back, Thank God, but we are still not hitting the heights we are capable of.

For me, CalMac, Jamesey, Christie. Jullian, Ajer & Frimpong all played very well, so now I just need to whittle 6 down to 3 for Jobo,

Big Bad John was really strident at half time today about getting strikers on. Gordon was a bit more nuanced – seemed a bit more keen to highlight need for other players to move in to the box (cited Liverpool’s formation as an example). He may be right long-term, but I do feel now is not the year to try a completely new system (and to be honest, I think the decisions in the past two games were much more short-term reaction than long-term formation experiment).

I do love the fact that BBJ almost always refers to Celtic as ‘we’ – even on non-Celtic chanels.

…. James played a lot better when switched, Frimpong has the X factor, We need to see more of him…

    ——-

Absolutely spot on. I usually much prefer James on the right – been frustrated before when managers have put him left to accommodate others. However, today it worked really well.

The Motherwell defenders – right and left – struggled to cope with the distinctly different challenges they were faced with at the different phases of the game.

The presence of a striker from half-time made a huge difference in that they also had to cope with a danger going in behind their centre backs. Never saw the big fella that Broonie fouled in the first half get forward once Patryk was there to occupy him.

  9. My friends in Celtic,

We needed that result today. I must admit, I was sceptical and disillusioned when I tuned in. By the end of the game I was back, Celtic were back.

Are Ferenovaros that much better than Motherwell ? I don’t necessarily think so. Did they set their stall out much differently? No,not really.

So what changed. ? Callum McGregor changed from the invisible man to being the protagonist.

    James Forrest had a mission.

Christopher Jullien was dominant and seemed to forget he was Bambi in a previous life.

Jeremy Fingpong does more in 30 minutes than most players do in 90. A wonderful entertaining player oozing with natural talent.

And them we reinvented the good old striker .A welcome appearance of Lazarus proportion.

HH to all, the journey continues. Woohoo.

  11. Never saw the gemme today so thanks for the updates and goals…

Great to be going into the International break with a great second half performance and three important points.

Jamesgang, apologies for not replying to your post but you kinda said it, fholk don’t trust BR… when he went he left, he had left KT out of the team to recover, when he began he said this…

    https://planetradio.co.uk/clyde/sport/football-news/brendan-rodgers-calls-greater-protection-horrendous-tackle-kieran-tierney/

“If we are trying to get the best players playing here in Scotland they need a little bit of protection.”

Asked if teams maybe felt that the physical approach was the only way to stop his side, the former Swansea and Liverpool manager said: “We are a team of men.

“We have young guys in the team but we are playing a man’s game so we have no problem with the aggression and we have coped with that at places like Aberdeen, in a really tough physical game, tough challenges, fair challenges.

“The concern for me is the challenges that are late, that like last week was a straight-leg challenge which could have really damaged him.

“If Kieran’s foot was planted you could be talking a different story about one of the great talents in Scotland.

“Now that is the duty of the referee, to protect them and protect the game.”

You may feel he was not genuine in his regard for KT, I think he was… it is, what it is…

It’s a sad indictment of CQN today that contributors like wise men of a certain age, like TOSB and Philbhoy, who are obviously dyed in the wool and more than happy to clap the famous Glasgow Celtic, then when, their patience is tested to extreme, offer rare criticism and they are faced with such abuse.

    Sad times for great Tims…

Sorry mate but Ferenovaros are light years ahead of Motherwell.

Infact even by Motherwell standards todays team were pretty dreadful.

Sloppy at the back and completely useless in attack.

We did play much better in the second half today and that was the optimistic thing to take away.

  13. Frimpong was electric today and his cameo, Wednesday.

The wee man loves the wide open spaces of Celtic park and should play all home games imo.

He wasn’t as effective at Rugby Park or Tannadice, hopefully Neil is staying wide awake and learning.

    Celtic Park Frimpong plays.

“Who really gives a toss about the CL anyway?

Actually, loads of us. We all know we won’t win it but if we qualify for the group stages we get £30m + and the opportunity to see some great teams at Celtic Park. Many of our fans enjoy attending the away legs too and making friends in lots of European cities.

    —–

We get the opportunity to be thrashed by a number of great teams at Celtic park. The Europa league last year was much more enyoyable (for me anyway) than the previous Champions League games. And we also get to go to other European cities and make friends in that competition. I get no joy from watching teams like Man City or PSG (funded by abuse human rights abusers to make their governments more palatable to to west) but we obviously differ on that.

To be honest I don’t particularly care for football nowadays, there was a time I would watch MOTD and other live games not featuring Celtic but now i can’t stomach it as it is increasingly a front for sportswashing”

Why come on to a football blog and post about football if you don’t care much for it?

    ——

I care about Celtic and I care about Neil Lennon. Not much else in the football world but those two should surely be enough for a Celtic blog, no?

“ And even if we don’t there are far more important things going on the world that you should be getting angry about.”

This is a football blog. It’s purpose is to give us the opportunity to discuss all things Celtic and football. We come on here to escape the ‘far more important things going on in the world that you should be getting angry about.’

    —–

A lot of people were losing their head today, that was just my way of trying to put things in perspective. Although to be fair, I was also making a point about how football/sport is being used to distract people from political issues – which when you think about it is kinda relevant to a football blog?

You win first prize for the strangest post of the day!

I’m afraid I can’t accept that prize, there were other posts far more deserving.

  15. I think it’s been proven often enough that CQN is more much more than just ‘a football blog ‘

  16. Never seen today’s game today due to a family day out.

Can’t believe we started with same team as Wednesday night. Then again maybe I can.

Very worrying. Don’t care what the result was in the end.

  17. BTW please don’t anyone respond to that email.

Apologies I should have rendered it invalid

Oh, and apologies if you’ve been posting for years, I’m afraid I only remember the names of people who post anything interesting.

  19. FRANKTERRY on 30TH AUGUST 2020 9:35 PM

Thanks for replying and adding more clarity to your post. When Celtic enter any competition they are likely to come up against teams who have owners with an unsavoury background. You don’t get to pick and choose who you are drawn against. We did get humped by PSG and Barcelona but we performed very well against Man City and were given great credit throughout the UK for our performance. Pep’s team had won all their previous games and we were the first team to stop them. Our team cost a fraction of the price that their’s did.

As a Celtic fan, I am immensely proud of the fact that Pep said when interviewed after the game, “Our dressing room is totally silent. My players can’t talk. They are totally exhausted.”

We didn’t win the game.. we drew but in all the years I’ve been supporting a Celtic it remains one of the most exciting games and emotional nights I’ve ever witnessed at Celtic Park. We might not have lost so heavily to PSG or Barca if we had a manager who was more pragmatic and set the team up to play a more defensive game. Sadly, Brendan stuck to his philosophy and we were embarrassed. That doesn’t mean to say that we will always be thrashed in the CL.

I made my point earlier that we come on here to escape the travails of the world do I won’t labour it.

  20. THEORIGINALSADIESBHOY on 30TH AUGUST 2020 9:55 PM

‘We might not have lost so heavily to PSG or Barca if we had a manager who was more pragmatic and set the team up to play a more defensive game.’

Do you mean a manager like Neil Lennon when we beat Barcelona?

  21. We are up to 3rd in Table, 6pts and 3 goals behind Huns with 2 games in hand, winning the 2 in hand should put us on top on goal difference, but as Burnley alluded I’d like to get at least one of the games in hand played & get the points & the goals on the Board.

Put the pressure on the barstewards,

  22. Frank Terry

Your post was embarrassing a real losers post.

Ooh and highly selfish and detrimental to the football club.

Instead of trying to defend your ludicrous its better in the EL you have a snide personal dig. The favoured weapon of someone who talks utter bollocks. ( see i can do it in return)

Excuse me if i don’t give a feck about whether you want us in the EL when the money from the CL secures a higher calibre of player and makes us much more attractive to players.

You see i don’t put myself first and what i want to see, i want what’s best for the club and that without a shadow of a doubt is CL qualification.

If only you had the first clue to understand that.

  23. Well done Celtic,Well done Neil Lennon.

Can’t say always agree with selections, but clearly he has more info than us onlookers so lets go with it.

I cannot believe the attacks on Celtic as a whole,be it Board,Manager or players,by so called Celtic Blogs, some of whom read as almost dis-appointed we won,as if them being correct in their NL /Board criticism is more important than our progress.

This is the second wave of criticism and attempts to disrupt, firstly it was the efforts to stop the nine, then there was the hope Boli would cost us points, this time its self inflicted but its amazing how everyone has piled in,the only reason is to disrupt, not to offer constructive criticism.

Of course we need to improve, but strengthening our rivals confidence is not the way to do so.

I need a rest, don’t know how NL must feel.

  24. CHAIRBHOY on 30TH AUGUST 2020 9:07 PM

My criticism of BR ref hammer throwers, is one that goes far beyond him and KT. As a team/club, we’re far too backward in coming forward to calling it out when our players are booted left, right and centre.

Apart from Scott Brown, only Ajer seems willing to challenge the refs to protect his own.

I trust that BR’s sentiments were genuine enough in that quotation. My j’accuse remains the unrelenting game time he allowed a still-developing, fitba/Celtic daft laddie to play without tempering his enthusiasm.

  25. Two of that Motherwell defence today ( Gallagher and O’Donnell ) may feature for Scotland twice in the next few days. Ye Gods!

  26. SID on 30TH AUGUST 2020 10:10 PM

Look back at your original post. You had a snide little go at me. Now yes, perhaps I should not have lowered myself to that level but we’re all human. Plus, mine was actually funny.

However, as soon as you post anything interesting I will reply. Can’t say fairer than that, can I?

  27. I’m guessing the smaller, wilder extremes of t’internet and Timdom are shut hence the influx or is that reflux of bilious tourists…………..?
