There is no point in trying to reason with the Neil “haters” …

Some Celtic fans actually detest our manager and will hide behind “I think we deserve better” … like Rafa Benetiz, Eddie Howe, Villas Boas the Leeds guy … … and so on

Neil has my 100% backing … by the way it’s not just on CQN … got loads of texts when team was announced Lennon this, Lennon that, same as Wednesday blah blah and more blah … after the game … not one reply … and their phones are on :-)

So glad we got a positive result today, intensional fortnights are long enough

Since one or two posters have asked me not to reply to them

Why post … if I annoy anybody don’t respond to me … it’s probably the best way to get rid of me …. :-) :-) :-)

    Sleep well fellow Celts

‘We might not have lost so heavily to PSG or Barca if we had a manager who was more pragmatic and set the team up to play a more defensive game.’

Do you mean a manager like Neil Lennon when we beat Barcelona?

    …………………..

Yes. Exactly. From back in the days when I was a Neil Lennon fan. When he gave football a bit of thought. When we put in an excellent performance at Camp Nou and again at Celtic Park. However, that was 7 long years ago. He was the right manager then and the wrong manager now.

  3. @TOSB…….. For the quest for the fabled 10………

Only one man fits the bill….Neil Francis Lennon

    Europe can wait …………………….

  4. Given some CQNers had talked up Campbell as a young Broonie type, I looked out for him today.

Sadly, I didn’t see much to excite.

Don’t bother replying , your clueless anyway as your post that wants an outcome detrimental to the club showed.

It showed you were more a Frank Terry supporter than a Celtic supporter, such a snowflake.

  6. Lenny is a legend as a player, manager and thoroughly good human being who has endured the most incredible sectarian abuse in this bigoted wee nation with feck all support however he has done himself no favours this week with his rambling nonsense. I hope and pray he’s well and brings us the Ten. Sadly Lenny is too close to our board who are fecking shameless in their desire to appease our absentee landlord. How did our once great club come to this ? Celts for change Hh

  7. I hold the right to simultaneously love NFL and recognise when he has cost our club with mistakes.

The human brain has the capacity to hold more than one emotion concurrently.

  8. The blog has sadly been a rather unpleasant place to spend my time on today. And it’s difficult to scroll by when so many posts are infected with this nastiness.

Thanks to all posters who have argued their differing points respectfully.

On football matters, the little I was able to watch has given me real hope that Klimala could be a good signing. His running & looking for the ball to be played early, dragging players out of position and general enthusiasm was very encouraging.

  9. @gordon 64…Theirin lies the destiny of NFL to bring the 10

All the suffering of abuse ..The hate .the vile representation of him in the feckin meeja.

He will drive a stake through their black hearts this season .And god willing come May..

I will dance in the street and celebrate a true Hero..

  10. MAJESTIC HARTSON-missed the last 10 minutes but he certainly looked fit enough to me.He didn’t stop moving

Well done Celtic,Well done Neil Lennon.

Can’t say always agree with selections, but clearly he has more info than us onlookers so lets go with it.

I cannot believe the attacks on Celtic as a whole,be it Board,Manager or players,by so called Celtic Blogs, some of whom read as almost dis-appointed we won,as if them being correct in their NL /Board criticism is more important than our progress.

This is the second wave of criticism and attempts to disrupt, firstly it was the efforts to stop the nine, then there was the hope Boli would cost us points, this time its self inflicted but its amazing how everyone has piled in,the only reason is to disrupt, not to offer constructive criticism.

Of course we need to improve, but strengthening our rivals confidence is not the way to do so.

I need a rest, don’t know how NL must feel.

    …………………….

Here we go again. Are you seriously suggesting that Celtic blogs would want Celtic to lose. Oh no, “it’s almost as if disappointed we won”. Maybe try to choose your words more carefully. No Celtic fan would ever be disappointed we won unless it saved Rangers from relegation or helped them to qualify for Europe.

“ This is the second wave of criticism and attempts to disrupt, firstly it was the efforts to stop the nine, then there was the hope Boli would cost us points, this time its self inflicted but its amazing how everyone has piled in,the only reason is to disrupt, not to offer constructive criticism.”

The criticism is ‘self inflicted’. What does that mean? Are you having a go at Celtic fans for criticising the mistakes of Wednesday and our team selection for today? You are actually accusing those of us who have criticised Neil Lennon of trying to disrupt? You are saying that we haven’t offered constructive criticism? What about the advice to play the game on Wednesday with a striker. We didn’t until very late on. We lost so we again offered that constructive criticism today. Again it fell on deaf ears. The manager ignored the advice and the team struggled to score. A wonder goalblate in the first half let him off the hook.

Please don’t have a go at Celtic fans for criticising. Constructive criticism raises standards. Accepting mediocrity silently leads to a lowering of standards. The faithful through and through mantra of our support is the Club’s biggest strength and biggest weakness.

  12. Fairhill Bhoy,

I thought so too and perhaps we’ll never know if he was but someone on here mentioned that he did seem to tire or looked tired at points.

In a parallel universe somewhere he played a blinder for 60 minutes on Wednesday scoring one and playing a part in 2 more, before being subbed.

I’d like to go to that universe please:)

  13. big wavy

like me st stivs is probably fed up listening to you moaning , post on moaners quick news

or even follow follow .If you are really a celtic supporter try and show it, we played and won

well to-day hail hail to all Supporters

  14. Sid, that is the point you don’t have to hate NL to see that there have been major mistakes both this year and last year in the CL qualification have most likely cost the club upwards of 50 million and maybe ithe chance of signing a couple of quality players

    …………………..

I recognise your right to hold that view. I’ll be happy if we appoint a better manager.

  16. MAJESTIC HARTSON-the 45 will have done him no harm.If only we could all go to that universe:-))

  17. My tuppenceworth… i don’t hate ‘Lenny’, i just don’t think he improves our team performances, and from that afternoon after the final when we heard rumblings that the caretaker role was being made permanent, I’ve thought he was the wrong man for the job. He’s done nothing since to make me think otherwise.

If we do win the league this season, i hope he’ll have the grace to step down and let a successor come in to move us onwards, because under the current boss, we’re stagnating.

We need a new manager with a skilled coaching team, rather than just relying on the current batch of ‘good Celtic men’. We need a fresh set of eyes that can identify the faults in our stuttering, immobile midfield and we need a team of coaches who can actually coach. We don’t have either at present…

I agree with you on all points.

  19. Gerry123-I think big wavy is only saying out loud what a lot of Celtic fans are thinking and I agree with almost everything he says.Plus he tends to keep it civil

  20. @TOSB…If i may say your posts of late seem to be full of Ire,,Angst…

Not your usual self….is it our Euro jaunts that deflate you??

remember this..The faithful mantra has taken us to where we are now…

9 IN A ROW…EVERY BIT OF SILVERWARE DISPLAYED AT PARADISE.

I am loving this time ….

Any suggestions for a better manager??

  21. Sid

after a day fraught with a Celtic victory, you relating Frank Terry to anything “snowflake” has me howling.cheered me up.

    :-)))

  22. One thing that does my head in is this idea that good players are signed by the manager and the rest by The board,

managers of top teams in Europe get players signed for them all the time why do we think that a manager in Scotland should be any different

  23. Drambowiecelt-there’s loads of better managers out there Whether they would come is another matter

  24. Here’s the “real” league table showing each team’s standing based on their first 4 games (all teams have now played at least 4). The first figure is the team’s points. The figures in brackets are goals scored and conceded. You’re welcome ;-)

    10 Celtic (10-2)

    10 Sevco (7-0)

    10 Hibs (7-2)

    9 Aberdeen (4-2)

    7 Ross County (6-5)

    7 Dundee Utd (4-4)

    7 St Mirren (3-4)

    4 St Johnstone (3-6)

    3 Hamilton (2-7)

    2 Kilmarnock (5-8)

    2 Motherwell (2-5)

    2 Livingston (3-7)

  25. Celtic set to tie up season-long loan deal for Brighton and Ireland defender Shane Duffy.

    – McGowan, Daily Mail.

Now, interestingly, the view over on moaners quick news, is that our best shape for 3 at the back required a left footed CH with pace and power but one outlier (an optimistic sort) thought his power, leadership and heading would be a welcome addition.

He’s been barred. No place for that on MQN. :)

  26. Well, the peace did not last long.

The International Break has come , yet again, at a bad time for us. We don’t play again till the 12th September and the Ferencvaros result has more time to seep into our bones and depress us.

Lots of time for bickering and post-mortems but no time for the only real cure.

    Playing and winning matches

  27. @FB…Not for this seasons league campaign…

    All this IMHO..Of course…

  28. it is a really shallow thing of me, when someone calls themselves “big”

    …………………………..

I get quite annoyed when Celtic fans are called a variety of names and accused of hoping that the team loses etc because we have dared to challenge decisions/statements made by the manager. I get upset when Celtic are beaten at home when they have every advantage against weaker opposition or opponents who have far less resources than we have due to incompetent decisions made by the manager, viz-a-viz bizarre team selection. Failing to close out a game that we had won three times (Cluj) etc.

Everyone goes on about TIAR. Yes I want to win TIAR but I see Celtic as a European team. No one cares outside of Scotland about TIAR. I want to win it because I know that it will cause distress to Huns in Scotland in all walks of life. I want to win 13 in a row to get to 55 before they do (I know Newco and all that). I want more Scottish Cup, more League Cups and more Trebles as well but more than all of that I want Celtic to become a team that is taken seriously in Europe again. A team that the big clubs with little ads of money will fear again when they come to Parkhead on European business. Just now it’s not happening and I want to eliminate the reasons why.

It’s not my job to identify a manager better than Neil Lennon. The club should appoint an agent to compile a dossier of names and why they would be a good appointment. However, I was impressed by the Copenhagen manager. Solbakken (?). We outplayed them for 25 minutes in Copenhagen and he made subtle changes and the game turned in their favour in the first half. We were lucky to get a draw. We were schooled at Parkhead. Copenhagen went on to do well in the tournament.
