  1. virtue signal ?

    virtue signal ?

    virtue signal ?

Bullets in the post, and bombs in the depot.

    I know,

    virtue signalling.

i missed you off my list of arseholes list earlier, how could I.

    virtue signal that

  2. I want to mention something that is part of our group speak, i like to challenge a lot of these because its wildly accepted and its not as cut and dried to me.

Of course the one where “at least we’ll have a better Euro record under Lenny than Brendan, this was one I challenged vigorously before the event. I had to wait until events vindicated me, so was naturally shot down at the time which i accepted. Still challenged on every occasion though, stubborn unrepentant fenian😊

The other one that bugs me is the PSG one’s which prove how bad he was in Europe. Are we really suggesting, similar scores with this defence currently couldn’t ship 5, 7? To balance these scores we had excellent results against Man City. We conceded 4 at home to Cluj was that better or worse than PSG given the standards of both clubs?

Then you look at Bayern 8 Barca 2, or even Tottenham 2 Bayern 7. So a team with 10 times our budget a rich EPL shipped 7 at HOME. So if we’re being consistent then Pauchettino is a bad manager in Europe , but wait he reached a CL final just months before with virtually the same players.

So here’s my conclusion if you turn up on any given night against the top 3 or 4 superclubs and you are not bang at it on the night then even Barca and Spurs suffer WORSE scorelines on the night. It’s the nature of the beast that we certainly don’t have the weapons to fight with.

I think its a nigh on certainty That whatever manager is at the helm the next time or time after that we reach this stage we are vulnerable to a similar scoreline as the PSG one’s should we meet the very best. That’s with whatever tactics employed, even parking the bus.

I’d still bite their hand off for their filthy lucre as long as it makes our club stronger because the longer we have the its all about the league attitude, we get even further away than is happening regardless.

Don’t beat yourselves up it was a front three of Cavani, Neymar and Mbappe the cream of the game, just think how Spurs or Barca felt.

  3. Bedtime and remember when we wake up tomorrow we will still be Celtic Supporters/fans

    Magic eh 😂🍀

  4. JHB you typed –

On the other hand, surely we must be free to criticise our manager for his major contribution in what has been a disappointing week.

To use Neil’s special circumstances over the years to virtue signal, then label people as less of a Celtic supporter if they don’t agree with you, is quite frankly puerility on stilts.

    ————————–

Neils special circumstances means what ?

    Virtue signal means what ?

  5. JHB

Neil Lennon’s postion as manager is up for debate as much as Scott Brown’s place in midfield or Greg Taylor’s at left back

What is not acceptable is someone coming onto a public forum and questioning a man’s character, mental health and personal appearance just because he made a decision they didn’t agree with

There is a perception that the modern day Celtic fan (those that have grown up knowing only success) is a spoilt entitled brat

The demographics of this particular blog would argue it’s not a modern-day thing at all but is in fact actually part of our wider support as a whole

  10. Good morning cqn from a quite cold Garngad ❄❄❄

Reading back at looking at Jobo’s league table after 4 games for everyone, one thing struck me, that bloody whole Bollingolli affair has set us right back not only on the field but if it and in the virtual stands.

So we have to wait now to an away day on Saturday 12 September at Ross county to try and get momentum going again.

Let’s use this time wisely Celtic, get Duffy in and for me Paddy Robert’s and another 1 or 2.

Hello again all you young rebels.

Great result yesterday, i’m sure the huns smelled blood but our

bhoys got the points and we’re back on a roll again.

Got to say some of the horrible comments directed to our manager

were a new low for CQN, i refuse to believe they were from Celtic

supporters, we’re all mystified whats going on with Lenny’s team

selections but a few posts were disgraceful.

Anyhows yesterdays game proved we’re a better team with strikers

and me personally i’d go with Frimpers on the right and Jamesy on the

left for a few games. keep the back 3, El Hamed. Julien New CB IF Ajer

leaves, plenty of talent in middle of the park to support the captain.

Sun is shining now, Spring tomorrow and lockdown coming to an end

hopefully we’ll get out soon, do a bit of hurtin hun huntin.

Maybe i can never find them because they’re always on their i pads

writing and posting vitriol about our manager.

    The Lurgan Legend.

  12. The debates re Lennon’s future as Celtic manager are pointless and a bit self destructive.

Lennon is going nowhere – we either back him or continue to argue the point all season. Personally, I’d rather just focus on the football all season.

At the end of the season, a root and branch review of the club is needed. We can not continue to underperform in Europe – going 16 years without winning a knock out tie is ridiculous. As part of that, Lenny’s future will have to be looked at.

Right now, Neil has my full support and I’m very confident he’ll win this league.

Winning the ten will be very sweet but it’ll be that bit sweeter for Neil Lennon delivering it.

  13. ….I think in retrospect whoever it was that posted the easy-to-follow-follow instructions for us to change / update Bhlog monikers……………..has inadvertently helped the cause of some sleekits………..

Not all, obvs…….poor results will encourage some in a way that a win or some success does not…….but within the broad church of our genuine support – doubtless those who would wish us to fail in every regard have been further facilitatted to ” contribute” under the guise of being an unhappy / disgruntled Tim.

It’s not a black and white thing.

PS _ How bad was Big Packy yesterday? Total fraud….Never A Tim.

Never see Packy now so thats a blessing, Celtic tv has wee Strach

and BBJ, good cop bad cop.

    Strach supported Lenny’s selections surprisingly.

Only thing i’d like to say, Big Packy’s family are not as negative as

him, which i found out when his sister and others travelled to

present our CSC with a beautiful Fields of Athenrye flag in Mornington.

  15. Simunivic was released in May , we are out the champions league and tomorrow is September 1st, centre half allegedly coming in on loan. Great succession planning Celtic .

You couldn’t make it. There is something far wrong at our club.

  16. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

St Stivs – yes please to joining the clique.

As a result of being a Celtic employee, Neil has gone through a version of hell none of us can truly understand.

Now, IMHO, there are things he does (or how he does them) that make little sense to me looking in.

But he is our manager and deserves our support.

Speaking of which, I get the impression Neil is missing what I routinely call “a person”.

A go to guy in the organisation you can bounce anything off (preferably, but not necessarily, your right hand man or woman).

Gary Parker did it for a bit.

Presence of such makes a huge difference to someone in a stressful job.

Issues can be diluted or even dissapated before they even start to occupy a space in your head.

    Neil sometimes looks isolated?

As for the start to the season, yes our manager has possibly erred, but the biggest factor for me is the Bolingoli situ.

If that hadn’t happened I firmly believe we’d be 16 from 6 in the league and still in the Champions League.

    Spilt milk.

Knuckle down, focus harder. Win the prize.

‘To use Neil’s special circumstances over the years to virtue signal, ‘

Are you referring to this post of mine?

‘Some of the criticism of the manager since Wednesday has been very personal and abusive. Neil risked his life to play for and manage Celtic and for a few of us that leads to an automatic instinct to defend him when he is being attacked.’

It’s not virtue signalling buddy, it just means you were brought up right.

    100% correct.

The manager is not above criticism although some on here believe he is untouchable.

  19. ONENIGHTINLISBON on 31ST AUGUST 2020 9:22 AM

Who? I’ve seen some posters (myself included) defend Neil against a lot of vitriol and abuse.

These attacks are completely different from posters who have expressed an opinion about the wrong choices (they think) he has made – something which I have done myself.

    —-

I agree. I have no desire to argue as the blog yesterday (and indeed since wed) has been a pretty depressing place which is a real shame as there are a lot of smart and funny people who usually post on here. As you have already probably guessed, I’m not one of them :-)

However, can you understand why I might be pissed off about being accused of ‘virtue signalling’ simply because I have reacted to some of the awful abuse that has been directed towards Neil? Do you still agree with that post ‘100%’?

  28. Ajeti, Barkas, Duffy, Elyounoussi and Turnbull represents our best transfer window in a very long time.

  29. onenightinlisbon on

    FRANKTERRY on 31ST AUGUST 2020 9:49 AM

Neil Lennon has had to suffer the vilest of abuse from many sources over the years. Death threats, bullets in the post, we all know this. His courage to stand up to the scum who did this can only be admired and applauded. A lesser person would have quite rightly packed his bags and got as far away from Glasgow as possible.

He is however the manager of a club we all love and like any employee of this club, we, as supporters have the right to criticise his decision, methodology, statements etc. We must do that with dignity and humility or we risk becoming no better that those who have persecuted him.

  30. Think you are being unfair on Packy Bonner.

I do not listen much these days to the station he works for but sometimes there is no option.

I do not think he tries to rubbish us at all.

He speaks his mind like a fan…I do not agree with much of it but much of it I do.

Reports this morning that finally Shane Duffy loan deal is about to be done.

    That’s good news.

A signing our championship rivals would not want us to make.

A VERY EXPENSIVE LOAN DEAL for one year…’Whats the point’??? cried Charlie Adam on the football show last week?

The answer Charlie Adam is that we can……we have got the money and it might help keep the rats out of the kitchen.
