If this really is the news that SD is coming on loan — then how typical?

Two weeks too late panic move by PL to try and take hold of the agenda.

Galling that we can waste the opportunity of CL football with his comic attempts at player recruitment.

Then it is all OK when he finally gets something done — one month late.

PL is just a second rate property bean counter with an ego well beyond his ability.

2 qualifications for CL football in 7 recent attempts.

No wonder we are now a selling team.

Football is growing business globally and we are going backwards.

NL is just a useful lightening rod.

Drambowiecelt-a better coach/manager might want to wait till this season is done

    …………………………..

Yes. That’s a good point. If it all went south a new manager wouldn’t want to be seen as the guy who llost the 10″.

it is a really shallow thing of me, when someone calls themselves “big”

    well …………….

your think your much taller than you are.

A name given to me by a dearly departed Tim with a great sense of humour. ‘Big Wavy hair headed freak’ after I slagged his red mop. Great fella, taken too soon.

Funny how much people judge those they’ve never met or know nothing about.

I don’t really care personally and certainly won’t stop me posting.

  4. Serious football question.

Do the international fixtures mandate that leagues cant play during that week,

It is bizarre that clubs with no players called up to international teams, cant actually fulfill fixtures.

During these times you would think any fixture that could be fulfilled would try do it.

  5. a few points from game today

    1. its clear by today’s team to the lennon/Kennedy management team that they actually believe they done nothing wrong in the CL qualifier. i see some fans saying forget about Europe and the 30-40M income and players we can bring in with that money and concentrate on the domestic. well its clear with Lennon/Kennedy you will get you wish this year and next .

    2. Frimpong, plays and then doesn’t play, does the same every game, get ball goes past players at speed. unsure of issue here except mr Invisible ( yes he scored a good goal today ) plays in that role of usually slowing game down, refusing to beat a payer and refusing to help out in midfield, beats me why Frimpong does not play there ????

    usually plays on

  6. Still trying to think who would want the job.

It won’t be a ready made coach like some of the exotic names mentioned earlier unfortunately.

Mea cowbhoy. Mea cowbhoy. Mea Mexican cowbhoy.

  8. Big Wavy

Whether Duffy is left footed or not- he is another much needed Centre back, if he comes. We won’t always have Jullien and Ajer fit.

When we had Denayer on loan- lots thought he was too small to be a CB- I still think he’s great.

When we had VVD lots thought he was too complacent and would get found out at Southampton

Now we know Jullien is slow on the turn and sometimes clumsy agaisnt strong CF’s and we know Ajer goes to ground too easily and is one footed.

But we have not yet invented the perfect defender yet- they all have faults and those willing to come to the SPFL have more than most but AJer is growing into a player before our eyes, Callum is already there and, contrary to a lot of amateur opinion, James Forrest is still in a good phase of his career. We won a watch with Jeremie Frimpong and got a solid signing in Elhamed.

We need to keep one eye on these positives whilst we note that there are , again, early season defensive weaknesses, and our forward line is not settled or frightening yet.

The negatives? Scott Brown does need spelled a lot more this year but he will be still digging us out of holes by the end of the Campaign for 10. Taylor needs a rival for the LB slot. We might lose some of our ambitious players but, so be it, having wanted players is better than having unwanted ones.

If Neil can keep his head and recover his energy, he will lead us to this promised 10. If not, the upheaval involved with a managerial change wil have to be smoothly done or we could lose the 10 as much by this decisive action as by a lack of it.

My preference is that a newly energised Neil leads us to the 10 with no more than 2 departures from this squad this year (Rogic and AN other) but, we don’t get to control this as we saw when Moussa departed abruptly.

So long as Sevco remain top of the league and looking reasonable in defence, nothing that is said can reduce our anxiety. I expect them, and us, to drop points in matches in this league. The trick will be to drop fewer points than them.

We are still in “Strap Yourselves In” territory, though hopefully without False no 9’s from here on in

  9. thank whover that Australia has come back on satelitte phone connection, we are going to get a rational comment on what happened today. shambles that it was .

    than you skippy.

  10. TOSB-I would love it Kevin keegan style if Lenny is in charge when we get the ten.But and it’s only a but,it’s been poor so far .On the park and off it

  11. SFTB,

Agree fella. We lose Jozo and acquire Duffy then that’s a much needed and very good swop. If allowed by the bloody masonic cabal, I expect to see him kick Morelos, Kent and Hagi over the Jock Stein stand in October.

And for that, we should all be very grateful.

  12. @TOSB..Good man …let it all out…..

Your points are all valid..And as always conveyed in the best possible manner…

Neils time will come to an end ..We all know that..Better managers are out there

Better players are out there…All i Know is this season i believe NFL is the man for 10..

Europe can wait…I’m sure come April/May if we make yet another historic contribution to our Family.

You will dance with me in the streets……

  13. Duffy like mcginn if he had signed for us will be walking a tightrope every game he has a Celtic top on

    ———————–

Peter Dodds McCormick (1834? – 30 October 1916) was the composer of the Australian national anthem “Advance Australia Fair, publishing under the pseudonym of Amicus, latin for “Friend”.

Born the son of a seaman at Port Glasgow, Scotland, he arrived in Sydney (at that time the principal city of the British colony of New South Wales) in 1855.[1] He worked as a joiner for “some years”.[1] Details of his earlier years, prior to his arrival in Australia, are shadowy. He spent most of his life employed by the NSW Education Department. In 1863 he was appointed teacher-in charge of at St Mary’s National School and went on to teach at the Presbyterian denominational school in the Sydney suburb of Woolloomooloo in 1867. He then moved to Dowling Plunkett Street Public School in 1878 where he remained until 1885.[2]

McCormick was heavily involved in the Scottish Presbyterian Church and was active in a number of community and benevolent organisations. He began his involvement with Sydney’s St Stephen’s Church as a stonemason, working on the now demolished Phillip Street Church (where Martin Place now stands). The Rev Hugh Darling was so impressed with his singing on the job he asked him to join the choir. McCormick’s musical ability led him to becoming the precentor of the Presbyterian Church of NSW, which gave him the opportunity to conduct very large massed choirs. He was also convenor of the Presbyterian Church Assembly’s Committee on Psalmody.[2]

Also a talented composer, he published around 30 patriotic and Scottish songs, some of which became very popular. Included in his collected works was “Advance Australia Fair”, which was first performed in public by Andrew Fairfax at the St Andrew’s Day concert of the Highland Society on 30 November 1878.[2]

“Advance Australia Fair” became quite a popular patriotic song. The Sydney Morning Herald described the music as bold and stirring, and the words “decidedly patriotic” – it was “likely to become a popular favourite”. Later under the pseudonym Amicus (which means ‘friend’ in Latin), he had the music and four verses published by W. H. Paling & Co. Ltd.[2]

The song quickly gained popularity and an amended version was sung by a choir of 10,000 at the inauguration of the Commonwealth of Australia on 1 January 1901. In 1907, the New South Wales Government awarded McCormick £100 for his patriotic composition which he registered for copyright in 1915.[2]

In a letter to R. B. Fuller Esq., dated 1 August 1913, McCormick described the circumstances that inspired him to pen the lyrics of his famous song:

One night I attended a great concert in the Exhibition Building, when all the National Anthems of the world were to be sung by a large choir with band accompaniment. This was very nicely done, but I felt very aggravated that there was not one note for Australia. On the way home in a bus, I concocted the first verse of my song & when I got home I set it to music. I first wrote it in the Tonic Sol-fa notation, then transcribed it into the Old Notation, & I tried it over on an instrument next morning, & found it correct. Strange to say there has not been a note of it altered since. Some alteration has been made in the wording, but the sense is the same. It seemed to me to be like an inspiration, & I wrote the words & music with the greatest ease.[3]

  15. I like Moi. Think he’s wasted on the left.

With rumours Tom is going, I’d play him at 10, where he struck up a partnership with Ajeti at Basle.

  17. Anybody who thinks Duffy (if he signs) or any other Celtic defender will be allowed to kick any hun without an ensuing red card is delusional.

dont chuck it in, pop in for a pint, laugh at the ridiculous comments from the bar bores, and the never done anythings, or the wont help others, or the people that real cqn’ers have never met, particularly good are the ones who never played football, never managed anything, havnt a clinical qualification, dont have business experience.

    it is a good laugh.

    on to 10 celtic.

  22. BIG WAVY-some folks on here are a very good read,SFTB set the bar and honestly you and a few others are up there.Something I can only aspire to be.Keep going buddy 🍀

  23. Bit late tonight but just wanted to say…

    Well done Celtic

    And well done Neil Lennon

All football players and managers receive a bit of stick after a bad result. It goes with the territory. But you see what has gone on, on this forum since Wednesday night, it has been an absolute disgrace.

See if you don’t think Neil Lennon is the man for the job, that’s fair say so, that’s what football forums are all about. Also, I know a lot of these posters are Hun trolls trying to sow discontent, but, see to be honest, see the rest of you who carried on the way you did, (and will do again no doubt) who are actual Celtic fans, I will say this… you don’t deserve to enjoy any success this season and IF we do manage to win 10 in a row, it won’t be forgotten by me or by any other right thinking poster, the way you carried on this week

Absolutely spoilt rotten, pathetic, sad, wee poisonous idiots who make me embarrassed to be a Celtic fan

And I don’t say that lightly

    excellent,

want to join a clique ?

  25. We have made an inauspicious start to the season. A season, some may say, is the most important one for fifty-three years.

It will be a strange season without our hugely influential & support to back us.

A strong-minded management team & squad working together will be the minimum required to handle the ‘special conditions’ that are extant.

If any of the ‘red tops’, or Sky/BBC, had suggested that there was a schism within the squad & that there were certain players who “didn’t want to be here”, we would all, quite rightly, have been up in arms. There would be accusations of a malicious agenda and of doing Ibrox’s bidding.

But wait a minute, It wasn’t the media, it was our manager, Neil Lennon, who dropped this bombshell after a shambolic and unnesscessary defeat in a home Champions League qualifier.

Most of us were shocked when the starting eleven was announced last Wednesday – after that outcome, it is fair to say, we were further shocked when the same line-up was released prior to today’s game.

We were lucky to be up against a very poor opponent today – we got a result and on the one hand we must be happy about it.

On the other hand, surely we must be free to criticise our manager for his major contribution in what has been a disappointing week.

To use Neil’s special circumstances over the years to virtue signal, then label people as less of a Celtic supporter if they don’t agree with you, is quite frankly puerility on stilts.

Neil Lennon will get 100% backing from every Celtic supporter whilst he is manager – but he is the manager, not God.
