  1. I’m really glad ( obviously) that the consensus is that Patryk Klimala made a very good and important contribution to today’s result. He worked his socks off and was unfortunate not to score himself, but he made a very big difference not just to the shape of the team but to the energy of the play. Well Done, Patryk! Like most strikers, the goals will come with the confidence that your play merits. Idź Patryk, Dobra robota!

So is it ok the other way around ?

The stuff I have read on here about our manager disgusts me … but you think am “stirring shit” from day dot you didn’t want Neil … and I think that’s a valid opinion … but yet again you & the rest of the Neil hatters Jump on the bandwagon … so when we got put our on Wednesday … we’re you “stirring shit” or is it ok for you and not for me to back up our manager ?

Rhetorical .. no need to respond because I already know the answer :-thankfully some of the shit stirrers (terrible for a former teacher) stand by our manager :-)

    ………………….

Why put in the smiley at the end of your post? You quite often do that or try to end with a joke after your post has been dripping with poison.

I’ll answer your points for you. I criticised him on Wednesday night but didn’t criticise anyone for defending him. That’s their view and I respect it. I criticised some posters for having a go at those of us (and there were a lot) who dared to criticise the manager for failing to play a striker. One actually came on and tried to make a comparison with the 7-1 League Cup Final and tried to say that we would have been unhappy because Rangers actually scored a goal.

You’re right. From day dot I didn’t want Neil and I still don’t. Am I not allowed to have that opinion and to criticise after Cluj, Copenhagen and Ferencvaros for his inept decision making, for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in home ties? Who made you the guardian of the blog, the Rottweiler who attacks those who don’t comply with the manager’s decisions, who don’t worship at his feet.

I was not stirring shift on Wednesday. I was criticising another incompetent display by our manager in a game where millions of pounds were at stake. I still haven’t criticised anyone for defending him. Only those who would deny me my right to criticise him.

You also posted, “ Rhetorical .. no need to respond because I already know the answer :-thankfully some of the shit stirrers (terrible for a former teacher) stand by our manager :-)”

Read my first sentence again. This is also going to shock you (from a former teacher). Stick your smiley up your arse.

    Great summing up

Goals and confidence will come indeed

but he must be on the pitch to do it.

Very lazy as well — chasing loose balls with all the conviction of a lesbian on bromide.

    Wtf and eh?

  6. You would think in this day and age there would be all kinds of technology available to get players ‘match fit’.

Even 10 years ago, you could play in a golf simulator, hitting your shots at Augusta.

Surely, there could be something equivalent for football, with a voice shouting how far and fast to run ?

Anyway, somebody like Henrik didn’t need a run of games to start playing well.

    +1

Motherwell were very comfortable for almost all of 1st half. They were pushing for a goal before Calmac’s piece of brilliance. JF’s goal was our first shot on target.

  8. Watching Celtic with a VST and nobody in Celtic Park is like looking in on a family event, where the vast majority of the family haven’t turned up, how could it be any good?

Celtic at home versus Motherwell in normal times is the game the weans and grandweans get to go to for their first Paradise day out, when the Lanarkshire side are on a roll it can sometimes be tight especially when we’re without a recognised striker, albeit two on the bench.

Neil Lennon committed the cardinal Celtic crime on Wednesday, but if Polish Paddy wasn’t trusted to lead the line midweek, he wasn’t getting the nod on the weekend either. On the striking front Celtic flopped again in the first half, and were it not for James Forrest’s thudding wedge shot, it could have been different.

Calum MacGregor showed a much missing flash of class when he beat two men on the left and weighted the perfect pass for James Forrest who drew the ball across the keeper and into the corner of the net, and as he ran to the invisible crowd his shout outs vented his frustration with his early season form?

He was back, and so were Celtic to the extent Neil Lennon could quickly quell the nae striker angst where Klimala was immediately in, where Eddy would have been on Wednesday. Ajeti did the same to good effect when he was given time to turn and plant the ball into the desolately empty Celtic end.

Chris Jullien then popped up in the channel to put a ball that any striker would have been proud to score, when he hammered the angle, with a zipping wrong foot shot past the keeper for goal number three, which sent the crowd from the living room into the kitchen for the celebratory one for the route.

Olivier Ntcham played as a number ten but not convinced he nailed it, Scott Brown was subdued after his obligatory booking, McGregor played in patches,, MOI was rightfully hooked and will surely play better, but the side is crying out for something new, hopefully it’ll be David Turnbull in the middle as there is always room for improvement.

  10. PHILBHOY and TOSB, you both are only a couple of years older than me, we watched the lions, compare that with this lot, hope you both are well.H,H,

  11. Had my drink, not my last. Before the game I said I would hold off till second half – well we got the goal, very well executed by James, and I really enjoyed the second half. At on point my old eyes went a bit swimmey and, fir a moment Frimpers had red hair😀

  12. That was interesting. I expect there will be those who say we played better when the strikers played. Sure we did. But by the time Klimala, Ajeti and Frimpong were doing there stuff, the Motherwell players were tiring AND having to abandon their 10 man defence.

Lots of good things today. But Brown and Ntcham in the midfield together just detracts from both players. Not needed in the SPFL. (I used to say the same about Lambert and Lennon).

The Jobo top three will be hard to pick. Well, second and third choice is hard. First choice is a no brainier.

  15. Thank feck we got the win.

All the subs made good contributions today.

When will David Turnbull be fit, I take it we did not buy another unfit player.😂

Can’t Agree although I respect your opinon.

    How were Motherwell tired?

They spent the whole first half camped around their own box.

Klimala ran them about, they actually had to defend against a forward who was creating space

    not 100 sideways passes.

Apart from the goal we did nothing in the first half.

The arguement can only be tested by starting with forwards.

LOL. And even funnier with my typo.

  22. Im glad NL played the same team. because players arnt robots. They were hurtin, as are we all. he believed in the team he selected and he was sending a message- to his players, forget the noise we will do this! The comments on these pages before the match, on a Celtic blog! Jesus wept. It wasnt arrogance, it was good man management. Good substitutions at the right time. Playing two right backs at the same time, -tactical genius and imagination. .

serious question- if its alright to call the Celtic manager before the game ” arrogant wee twat” is it alright if I say F@CK YOU?

‘Jeremy Johnstone’ – I love it – sounds as if he went to Greenock Academy with Farquhar and Murray😀

Quite Ok to disagree and question my reasons. Thanks for reading and replying.

Generally accepted that the team without the ball has to do a whole lot more running than the team with the ball. Even if the ball is going side to side.

So, to reiterate, I’m not going to get over praiseworthy of Klimala, Ajeti and Frimpong. They all did very well of course. Just that had they started and been up against fresh legs, then they would have done all the hard work and the players who came on as subs would likely have a better chance to grab the spotlight.

  25. THELURKINTIM on 30TH AUGUST 2020 6:27 PM

It is quite obvious that the way football is structured in modern times make any meaningul comparison near impossible. The Lions were a superb side and Jock Stein was a remarkable manager. Even a modern Jock Stein, however, would find it nigh on impossible to win the CL unless he managed one of a very small group of teams.

Great achevements in the last three years and great memories `67 (and afterwards as well).

I have made a wee saying of my own that I find suitable for these kinds of discussion:

” Things are better remembered than they were experienced.”

  26. SIMPSON CRAIG AND GEMMELL, MURDOCH MCNEIL AND CLARK, JOHNSTONE WALLACE CHALMERS AULD AND LENNOX, that team will never be beaten.👍

I like the contributions from both these posters, bring some welcome colour to the blog,

so no offence to either at LOL when I read this..

“Don’t let the Big Wavys of the internet bring you down … Celtic is beautiful”

    excellent…no offence BW.

  28. 3 Points is all that matters, and if we get offers for Ajer McGregor, and Nitcham, and Rogic ,then make it happen in this boring international break,in Midfield we have Soro ,Turnbull Christie, and Scott Brown who should be offered a part time coaching job along still in the squad, and Kimala stick with him, hopefully Griffith’s will be back soon.

  29. Pleased for Neil and the team today.

A few thoughts on the bickering that has been going on in the blog:

Some of the criticism of the manager since Wednesday has been very personal and abusive. Neil risked his life to play for and manage Celtic and for a few of us that leads to an automatic instinct to defend him when he is being attacked.

Now I wouldn’t have played Christie as striker on Wed either but at the end of day who really gives a toss about the Champions League anyway? We’re never going to win it and the competition (like football in general) is pretty much riddled with corruption.

To be honest I don’t particularly care for football nowadays, there was a time I would watch MOTD and other live games not featuring Celtic but now i can’t stomach it as it is increasingly a front for sportswashing.

For those of you who are expending a lot of energy getting worked up about what formation the manager plays, relax, we’ve won everything for years and will probably do so again this year.

And even if we don’t there are far more important things going on the world that you should be getting angry about.
