    not keen on the line-up ….. KC and Johansen tend to drift forward, so almost ends up more like a 4-2-4 which leaves us too light in the middle (with only SB and NB … probably against 4 or 5 midfielders for Motherwell).

    BBJ has really slipped down the pecking order … sadly.

    Good team

    j77. If that is the team it looks like Rony has lost patience with big John Guidetti. As much as I like big John if he doesnt want to stay play our own players and keep him for any injuries. H.H.

    Sevco fan on talking a load of old shoite as well as keevins….. Top drawer comedy

  12. happy griffiths gets a start – he’s hungry and knuckled down and deserves a run in the team. Gudetti needs to find a club , play season long games and build up stamina. Constantly changing clubs will do him no good at all (other than financially).

    If winning cups , leagues with celtic is not enough then we need to let him go.

    3-0 tonight

  13. I was kinda hoping JG’s loss of form was a ploy by himself and the Celtic management to stop any other teams, probably from EPL, sniffing around and outbidding us… I’m a glass half full kinda guy.

    Henderson was ok v Hamilton but main reason for leaving him out is to stop him failing to reach an expectation level that as a youngster he is not yet capable of achieving.

    RD does try and look after his players.

  20. Mike in Toronto

    I’m with you on this one…. My concern is Stokes replacing Henderson.

    The 4-2-3-1 worked to an extent when Henderson was deployed…. Mainly because he is a hard working midfielder…..

    Tonight I think it will be a midfield 3 of Johansen, Bitton, Broony

    A forward 3 of Stokes (wide left), Commons (Central) and Griffiths unfortunately coming in from the right flank.

  21. Or possibly a midfield diamond….. Bitton sitting. Brown and Johansen Central. And Commons at top of the diamond….. Behind a front 2 of Stokes and Griffiths.

    ::::::::::::::::::::: Brown :::: Bitton ::::::::::::::::::::

    ::::: Commons :: Johansen ::::::: Stokes :::::

    ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Griffiths :::::::::::::::::::::::::::

    Not much difference from Kilmarnock (Stokes in for Henderson), with Johansen/Griffiths standing out as a clear weakness up front. That shouldn’t matter as Celtic will no doubt dominate and one of the 10 or so shots on targets should go in. Solid team otherwise, particularly the midfield of Brown and Bitton.

    In short, another workmanlike 4-2-3-1 line-up – enough to beat Motherwell, but a waste of these players’ abilities.

  24. Auld shug spluttering about the audacity of Celtic to play Commons when the old duffer “exclusively revealed” Hamilton was his last game.

    silly old fool

    I guess we will see how they actually line up, but I share your concerns. Both Stokes and Griffiths to me are great as a striker, but not as effective when played wider.

    I played up front as a youngster (never a great player), and always said that ‘goals win games’, and so thought strikers were the key. At the highest level, they probably still are. But, on anything less than that, and the games are won/lost in the middle of the park. Like the German team, the key seems to be dominate the middle, but have good talented mids who can move forward when the occassion arises.

    You’re right, of course …… I have been tuning in lately to TRY to follow Sevco’s fiasco / demise …. Hahahahahahaha ……. And as for DL ….hurtinhun, and not very bright

  28. We’re 50 goals better off than Motherwell so far this season on GD.

    Let’s hope this gulf is reflected tonight in the match.

    ‘Mon the Hoops, be confident!

    (Having said that, any win’ll do me).

  29. Up_over_goal

    Not sure how much you watch Celtic….. But Commons hasn’t been employed in a wide position for quite some time.

    Johansen has been put out to the right recently, ahead of Matthews… To accommodate Commons taking up a central role.

    Have u watched the recent games?

  30. mike in toronto and ruggyman

    Griffiths played up front v Kilmarnock until Scepovic came on, and will play up front again. Commons and Stokes will play right and left.
