I think you raise good points. My problem with European Leagues is that they will be organised to suit commercial and TV interests, and football, in general, won’t be in any better state.

Maybe what football needs is a little bit of “regression”?

    So do you

    a) both think the Scottish polis would provide adequate protection?

    or

    b) think its an unfounded excuse and intimidation does not exist?

    or

    c) its being over milked and Celtic should take the chance that going public will not have unforeseen consequences for themselves and others?

This will all come out safely in the criminal wash free from spin but it is a terrible indictment on our society that what would be dealt with quickly and fairly elsewhere cannot be done in Scotland.

Of course it’s a perception, it’s totally foolish to really believe otherwise, and you’re not a fool

  6. Davidopoulos,

Yes that’s true – I think the boat sailed a long time ago though. Football has feasted on tv cash, and the price has been games moved to suit tv schedules rather than fans who wish to attend games.

The irony is that wall to wall live tv hasn’t, to my mind, improved football or attracted significant new followers to the game. Like many who post here I grew up in the dim and distant past when a live football match on television was a rarity. Cup finals and the annual Scotland v England game were the only ones shown in full. Now how many live games could you watch in a weekend with Sky or even a good broadband connection?

But has the game grown with this new cash? Sure, the players have made fortunes, and not just the ones at the very top. Many of the administrators – as we all long suspected – have had their hands out too. Fans? Well, grounds are of a much better standard. But the game is still basically the same. The biggest changes in the last 30 years on the pitch have been some extra officials who do little and a wee can of foam!

  7. I would rather, if you can remember, remind the blog what you said, CATGORICALY, last year.

Or are you just another paper supporter?

    =======================

And what exactly have you done recently to fight the corruption ?

Tell me. How many meetings, phone calls, e mails and angst have you been involved in to try and bring matters to light then address them?

I can sleep fine mate for I at least got off my arse and tried to bring about change.

  9. Gordon_j

Maybe that is true, maybe the boat has sailed. But how long can football survive as a rich man’s playground? Probably for another while, but one day it will all come tumbling down. Bubbles can’t expand forever. So I think we need to sort out our clubs in a way that they can survive such a collapse. Perhaps I’m being to pessimistic though?

  10. Auldheid…

If there is one poster on here that question what you say or do in the name of our club they have to have a look at themselves.

Keep up the good work. HH

PS…the Coast on bbc2 on Dublin….see all you rebels in March.

  11. I don’t fight for the PLC Aulheid, I fight for the hungry and those who can’t ever dream of retiring.

We’re one but we’re not the same.

I’ll work till the day I die to feed those that I can afford to feed beyond my needs. That is a promise mate. A promise not between you and me, it is a promise between me and my God.

When you can understand that you might begin to understand Celtic as it was conceived, not the whore it is becoming.

  12. Auldheid

You have no need to justify yourself to anyone. I would have thought that would be as clear as crystal

  13. Kitalba

I thought Res12 would be over long before this years AGM. So I stuck with it.

The reason I stuck with it is so that I can continue to watch a game I believe to be clean. At least with them mob not getting promotion I didn’t have to worry about refs etc.

    Any problem with that?

As I said to Morrissey leaving CP yesterday if there is no result on Res 12 by end of season I’m done.

Told same to SLO start of this season when I had to decide whether to renew my OST or not.

Frankly I can do without the shite. I get more from Tims than Huns.

I’m sure DD must have been terrified of the Huns … That’s why he constantly speaks of Rangers and Celtic … In that order .. And speaks of his desire for the ‘return ‘ of Rangers to the spl

    Load of pish

  15. Davidopoulos,

No, that’s a fair point. I’ve always been an advocate of fewer and better clubs – if that could be brought about through real fan ownership and involvement then we may get somewhere.

    Ellbhoy

That nonsense about protecting staff, is just that nonsense, p!sh too, total and utter.

One thing we all know about braggarts and bullies like the Huns is they will be emboldened by weakness.

    Nothing is surer.

  17. Auldheid

That you would give up is understandable but worrying. I do fear that more and more people are reaching the end of their tether.

The dialogue on the future of the club needs to happen quickly.

  18. Kitalba

Did you see the letter I posted from the Celtic Foundation on the use they put the Overseas Season Ticket to?

See the projects that benefitted? I worked voluntarily in some cases for some of them after full retirement and know the kind of clients who benefitted and appreciated it.

Even in retirement I do what you do but I don’t get on my soap box.

  19. Watching the Swansea West Ham game absolutely dreadful. For the money they spend some of the EPL teams are woeful.

  20. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Jeez they won’t need to break the rules, just send a few threats and their opposition will lie down.

That was part of their former club’s history too……….invade the park, threaten and assault opposition players and hey presto Barcelona Bears ……..

  21. And what I have done different from you…

    Well let me see….

    Let me think about it….

    Okay I’ve thought about it.

    what have I done.

    Well to their faces

    Their fekin faces

I’ve told Celtic directors they are a disgrace,

A feckin disgrace to those who have gone who gave them the opportunity to wear the tie.

Have you ever told a Celtic Director to Feck OFF. Get out of my face, you are not worthy….

I have. I don’t need the need to feel important, I feel the need to live the ethos of my club.

We are one but we are not the same.

Feck the PLC they are a POX.

    ======================

Its called putting on another persons moccasins and walking in them before making a judgement.

I think it is over milked but I do know the Celtic employee I spoke to felt that his security was an issue.

I didn’t want to tell him as a family man where his address was posted on line it was a load of pish.

Would you have done to his face?

  23. Auldheid

    a) both think the Scottish polis would provide adequate protection?

    or

    b) think its an unfounded excuse and intimidation does not exist?

    or

    c) its being over milked and Celtic should take the chance that going public will not have unforeseen consequences for themselves and others?

A, If the club went public, yes I can see the polis providing protection to employees.

    B. I do believe intimidation exists, and I have no idea what the ef goes through the minds of our suits.

    C. I believe it is being overmilked, business is all about risk, the club pay their taxes, and should at the very least expect the authorities to afford them what is afforded others, I’m sure the government wouldn’t like another scandal, they will do everything in their power to keep a lid on things, there is far too much that they wouldn’t want aired in public.

The club have to speak out, not to do so will be the death knell imo, not to do so will tell the world that they are Ok with the corruption and the cover ups.

    HH

  24. The game is corrupt. We can try and fight it as Auldheid has been doing, withdraw from it completely and watch the club die or accept it as a form of entertainment a la WWE and take from it what we want.

  25. eddieinkirkmichael on

Sometimes it’s hard being a supporter of this great club. I, like many on here, have watched some dross over the years. We’ve seen managers come and go, some good some bad and 1 or 2 that got us all believing the good times were just around the corner and sometimes the good times did arrive. When was the last time any new manager actually had a strategy for the years ahead? Most only saw the season ahead and everything was geared towards winning the league and there was no forward planning.

While we now have opportunity to plan for the future some of support would abandon that for short term success with glamour high profile signings, who would also command high wages.

I like going to games these days as I understand what the club under RD is doing. Granted it isn’t the finished article yet but I’m a patient guy and will continue supporting Ronny.

The average age of our first team is coming down, we’re identifying young raw Scottish players, something the blog was crying out for couple of seasons ago, players from the academy are breaking into the first team. 3 home grown players started the game yesterday, when was the last time we had so many of our own in the first team?

We’ve won the league and a cup in the previous season and who’s to say we wont better that is season? Successful clubs don’t get rid of winning managers if they want to stay successful. It requires time to build a team using the model we’ve now adopted, to cut short Ronny’s tenure at this stage would be a massive mistake IMHO.

Opinions and debate fine but let’s not lose sight of where we are in the greater scheme of things in the football world, we can’t compete financially so we have to find another more innovative way to compete, Ronny will, given time and support, get it right at Celtic I truly believe that. o for me I’ll continue turning up and spending my money to help him achieve that goal, what choice do we all have, if you don’t want to be part of it then you can vote with your feet and stop going. I will hold the door open for you as you leave because TBH the constant moans from some within our support on match days is actually beginning to spoil my enjoyment of watching Celtic.

  26. 2 defeats in the league and Celtic Football Club will … Just go on. When or if Sevco reach the uber rubbish SPL, Celtic will…what? Season books will hover about 35/ 40 thousand for the foreseeable future. supporters tell us on here SPL is rubbish. Negativity breeds despondency. Young supporters and old ones can watch Celtic on Internet/ Kodi. Economy is tough in Ireland and the U.K., this must affect season book sales. The MoN years were the exception not the rule. Even if Celtic had a team similar to Real Madrid/ Barcelona, there would be an initial surge, then drift down to 35/40 thousand season books. This time next year, same posts, Board ( no strategy to remove them) players/ managers hopeless, time to change , Peter Lawell’s bonus, ad nausem. Celtic will still be here, Ronny Deila? We’ll see….

  27. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Can’t believe a topic of conversation is fear of braggarts. FFS wonder what it was like 20 or 30 years ago for Celtic employees in those genteel times

  28. Auldheid:

Ask Celtic why I gave up my season ticket…. Peter was there, I’m sure he heard, but he couldn’t understand why the official Celtic singer was squeezing me to death.

It was because the singer was a mate of mine from thirty years back, but together we fought the good fight and wee went to jai for it too.

How many of the board have ever been to jail fighting Celtics cause?

    Have you? Ever?

    I have, many times.

But now I ‘ll leave it to the silence of the shadows, because you Celtic have not the guts to speak for the majority of the support lest it diminishes the dividends of their tory majority shareholders.

I’m going to die, after my father died, and after his father died too, and we’ve had a few laughs at the hun, but are we actually further forward for it?

When did we win the gig one? When?

And now our ambition is so diluted we see St. Johnstone away as a milestone.

    Carrots on the pavements.

You know exactly what I am talking about.

Did I ever get off my erse, I went to jail and hospital for what I believed/believe in…. did you?

  29. eddieinkirkmichael

Some good points there, and views I share regarding the team on the park and the management of the team. Young team and some good ideas that sometimes come off, but at the times that where the ideas nearly come off we can often end up on the wrong end of a bad result. But generally we can play some good stuff in a style that can produce good results. However, my concern is that where mistakes are made, it seems that they have to happen a few more times before they are actually rectified. I get that RD is still learning but he needs to get better at that to get fans back onside.

Check Eurochamp67s post about two pages back.

That time to speak out will come. It is not now but it will come when the truth is so apparent it can no longer be spun or hidden.

The lid on everything that the CF leaks have made known will be lifted, no more hiding behind the provenance of the evidence.
