It’s all good stuff. I just love the rumours and the rumoured sources!

    Fess 19,

Aye,Paul should block posters who are deeply worried about the situation at Celtic Park.

    Good Lord.I’m aff oot…

  3. No need to panic we have bog rolls.

Don’t throw them on the park though like the old days, the PLC will charge you with theft, littering, breach of the peace and trying to impersonate a player with a toilet roll.

God above save me from this madness.

  4. All the evidence shows that, with Ronny, we will not get to CL groups – and that we could lose the league anyway – so why take the chance over the next seven months?

This is the right time to make a change, waiting for another failure is NOT an option.

  5. Transfer window opens in 11 days.

Any players we ge tin are THe players trusted to mesh with the squad and get us to the CL group stages – providing we actually win the SPl, that is.

But do you give money, and the club’s future, to Ronny Deila?

I would’ve had him gone in August 2014, after he showed his hand in the Maribor game but that’s just me. Slaughtered on here for saying so a few times but, y’know, water off the duck who gives a #### and all that…

Right now, we just lost another game of football. Only another game, the blind faithfulwill say. Move on.

But it’s more than that – it’s the marker of 18 months of dilly-dallying (or Deila-dallying – see what I did there, pun fans?) and every promise unfulfilled. No uber-fit players, no intense high-pressing game, no tactical variety or intricate passing movement to bemuse opposition and make us a force in europe.

Ronny Deila’s a nice guy with interesting theories. But he’s frantically treading water now and has been for a while – since just after his 2-month high of January and February when promise flourished briefly.

Every time it’s counted, he’s failed us. I like him, but not in charge of Celtic.

So before that incredibly important transfer window opens, PL has a decision to make. I don’t envy he and the board in these circumstance but they dug their own hole when they took the gamble in 2014.

Now they either double-down and keep RD, and the ever-expanding malaise around the support, or they go all-in for a new man in charge.

I’d take Mourinho for a couple of seasons – give him a wee hiatus at a club he has expressed admiration for; he doesn’t need the money, get back to basics and see if he can reconnect with the game at our level. A hobby for him but a shot in the arm for us and the Scottish game.

And before the holy wullies savage their keyboards in Mourinho-induced, infantile, tutting ‘remember Seville’ outrage, remember they’ll be the same unforgiving (the irony) holy wullies castigating Leigh Griffiths before he ever put pen to paper, the top-goalscorer bhoy who ‘wasn’t good enough of character for their club’. Aye… Never off their arses when he puts the ball in the net?

The likes of Mourinho’s a winner. and we don’t have any winners in charge right now. We have hypothetical apologists running about trying to excuse their own failed theories.

So there’s the Mourinho fantasy – just keeping the seat warm for the King of Kings reality when he’s ready to come here and get serious again.

If I were the great Lawwell right now I’d be aiming to give Ronny till the end of the season, when I’d be praying the title was delivered, we could thank him for his niceness and his services and wish him a fond farewell. I’d be talking to my replacement manager now so that he was in a position to implement a plan for the CLQs the moment he walked in the door. I would also have him on stand by to take over sooner in the doomsday scenario that we fall behind Eberdeen in the table after new year. Ronny would be hunted by the fans in those circumstances, but so would big Pedro, the architect of current pish being served up at Parkhead.

Lawwell’s a very talented businessman, but he’s a hopeless Celtic man. Managed decline doesn’t begin to do justice to his long term strategy. It’s painful to see how poor we’ve become, but also how little hope there is for improvement in the future. I think Lawwell is probably conflicted on the return of the Huns, because he will see the business benefits, but be very aware that his “customer base” isn’t buying and probably never will do.

Pedro is just a symptom of the way money has progressively killed the soul of the game. I can’t watch the horrible, overhyped EPL, where most games are a boreathon. I’ve lost interest in the ECL until the semis when the true contests begin. And look no further than the mismatch of today’s Club World Final, where all too predictably it was three South Americans that destroyed the best team in South America in a walkover. I was born after ’67, but there’s zero chance of something like that ever happening again. Not just for us, but for Hamburg, Forest, Villa, Red Star, PSV, Marselle, Benfica, Porto, Ajax, Feyenoord or any unheralded team from the provinces. Only about half a dozen teams can win the ECL now, which is a crime against sport.

Lawwell has long resigned himself to this harsh truth, but even if the sporting aspect has gone he still sees the business potential. Ronny will remain until sporting failure becomes business failure.

  7. Fred Quimby,

And who would be our messiah that would instantly guarantee CL success.?

    ———————-

Surely we’d only make the change if we have a new manager lined up, who can guarantee us the league and qualification to the CL groups??

  9. Top of the league with only our second defeat of the league campaign yesterday. 2 away games coming up and our away form is very good. Why the panic?

  10. AIDEN BHOY on 20TH DECEMBER 2015 2:01 PM

Same as Leicester. A partnership up front that work their socks off and link up well. Supported by two wide men and one of the middle two.

When they lose the ball one of the two strikers drops deep to give an extra man in the midfield.

  11. This blog is usually not the place to be following a defeat.

However, as usual, some great sense of perspective, has been introduced by the words from Auldheid and Barcabhoy.

Defeat to Motherwell in a typically low key pre Christmas fixture, is in the whole scheme of things, relatively minor. BTW, IMHO, Motherwell were the better team, managed by a better manager, with a better game plan, carried out by players playing to their relative strengths.

The whole Resolution 12 thing, dealing with industrial, institutionalised cheating and SFA compliance, and how our board handle the fallout from the various court cases surrounding Rangers in liquidation and their approach to the Sevco same club nonsense, is most definitely the ultimate defining moment for this or any of our previous boards.

In conversation with Bournesouprecipe yesterday before the match, we concluded that for over 125 years we, and our forefathers, have suspected that we were playing in a rigged game, here in Scotland. One that is/was run to the benefit of one club, now in liquidation. Many of us have family, now deceased, who lived and supported Celtic suspecting what we now know to be true but never lived to see the day when the deceit was exposed.

Our board has a responsibility to every Celtic supporter past and present to represent us as diligently as possible in asking for proper restitution and recompense, if and when, the court cases etc are settled, exposing the deception and scale of cheating. I don’t really care about title stripping etc, although that may seem appropriate. What I want, need is for our board to stand up and say, “enough, this is our belief”.

There will be a cover up. There will be calls to move and forget the past, start afresh. When that occurs our board should, must, at least state,

” that while that may be the majority view of the SFA, SPFL, that we, Celtic, as members must accept, we wish it to be recorded that they are not the views of Celtic FC”. Then outline precisely why.

A failure to do so would constitute a gross dereliction of duty to all Celtic supporters, past and present.

If the board fail us at that time, then the Celtic FC of 2015, founded in 1888, will be as credible as Sevco Rangers2012, The Rangers, whatever you wish to call them.

  12. My biggest problem with Ronny is his refusal to learn from his mistakes. Week in week out same formation , players played out of position, poor substitutions. Really wanted it to work but it clearly isn’t and the time to make the change is now in my opinion.

  13. First post, I”ve been backing Ronnie since day one but I think his time is up , problem is who do we replace him with ?

  14. AIDEN BHOY on 20TH DECEMBER 2015 2:01 PM

Watford beating Liverpool 2-0 . Playing with 2 up front it’ll never catch on.

2 guys who can actually get about the park….

    ——————–

He dropped Johansen, he played Commons and Forrest, he even went 442 when Cole came on. None of it worked yesterday but those are changes people on here accuse him of not making.

  16. The Huddle

Forrest and Commons were played out of position yesterday if you ask me. As for the 4-4-2 all I seen for last 20 mins was 8 players standing in the 18 yard line and Tierney lumping the ball up to them .

  17. Not got a problem losing games,it happens.

But its the way we are playing thats my big worry.

Motherwell were worthy winners. Imo of course

    Hail Hail.

  18. We must continue to support Ronnie, and not be led by MSM agenda. The team is still in rebuild mode. A lot of players need to look at themselves. Yesterday was a disappointing game, but not enough effort is being expended, I think this due to tempo and effort, e.g running off the ball and increasing speed of pass. There are not enough players looking for the ball. This is not tactics.

I would rather our efforts were turned on the board to ensure that all efforts are made to hold the SFA to account, to date they have not done enough!

If this is not done then, the game is lost and it matters nothing about who is the manager.

  19. I applied late for my OST yesterday so instead of my allocated seat used by the Foundation I was in the JS stand.

I got talking to a couple of supporters who travelled over from NI, the kind of guys I’m grateful for turning up regularly.

However what I found in the conversation was a continual criticism of everything Celtic. Well meaning I’ve no doubt but sapping the joy from the day.

I was joined at half time by Morrisey123 and thankfully some of the joy returned. All of us were watching the same event but our attitude towards it was different. I think it fair to say Morrisey123 is sceptical of many things Celtic but he loves supporting in the true joyful sense of the word.

If the results at CP and away are related to criticism or encouragement then the answer is to encourage more and criticise less or at least make it on a more informed basis.

Another Internet bampot coined a phrase “energy vampires” and they come out when we have a poor result or performance to justify their default belief system, which when examined contains holes, but like any belief, if held to strongly and repeated often enough becomes fact.

These “facts” become sticks to beat Celtic people with instead of looking at the policies that dictate the results we witness.

People don’t follow policies they think will cause harm over the long term, indeed they may even have short term harmful consequences like (gasp) losing a game but over the piece the policies produce acceptable results.

I think it would be unacceptable for Celtic not to be in Europe after Christmas for 3 seasons on a trot for a new manager building a new side and not to win the domestic title each year given our wage bill advantage.

I think RD has met that target over 2 years so the only reason for removing him would be that the target is lower than what the support expect. The media if no one has noticed are doing their best to raise the target bar.

In my experience if you set your expectations too high there is no surer way of being disappointed and then condemning those who failed to meet the higher target.

A well thought out and accurate post, over on the Southside when their club was liquidated they said they would take down the whole of Scottish football with them and the SFA have made sure they had just exactly that chance…

    Don’t let us down Celtic..

  21. the_huddle on 20th December 2015 2:18 pm

In his post match interview he bemoaned playing at too slow a tempo, yet he starts with Bitton, Rogic & Commons, all of whom slow the play down. He said in the second half we didn’t have enough width and played too narrow, yet he took off Forrest and brought on a central midfielder.

He didn’t put two up front, Ciftci dropped deeper into the position Rogic was playing.

He is not getting the best out of the players he has. He continuously plays players out of position. We cannot break down teams at CP who are well organised. Four games on the bounce at CP, three defeats and a draw. Two wins in eight in all competitions.

We have a problem playing at home and nothing appears to be happening to try to resolve it. It’s the same old, same old.

  22. Aidenbhoy

I see Ronny making changes and mixing things tactically. Worked at Perth, failed abysmally yesterday. The players to a man were poor yesterday, not how they were set up tactically. Think we will win our next two away games convincingly at Tynecastle and Dens.

  23. Auldheid

A lot of people are judging Ronny on Europe the media are certainly pushing that line. No other manager I can recall has been judged on Europe so I think it is harsh on Ronny. That being said the football for me anyway is dire and there has been no improvement in the 18 months Ronny has been in and I personally don’t think he can turn it round.

  24. TRC:

Not for banning comments about Celtic, but one blogger stated that it was Paul67″s fault for Celtics failing. If he does not like the house owner go somewhere else .

Lets get sesible, can we get rid off manager: Yes, who do webrepace hime with? Names & money don’t gaurantee anything.

Get rid of CEO: No problem only an employee, replacement? who knows.

Get rid of Dermot Desmond? Not seen any posters put fowrard their name to buy him out but willing to listen to any ideas Maybe conact R######s F###t to get advice an buying up shares.

Off oot, time for bed. We holiday on west Coast Java tomorrow

Have a very Merry Christmas and best Wishes for 2016

  25. I thought Motherwell shaded it yesterday especially on chances.

It’s fairly well established that overall and especially against sides that can sit in at Celtic Park, Ronny’s inflexible tactic is highly vulnerable, the difference between Hearts and Kilmarnock is that Motherwell were coached by McGhee to score on the break.

The same players rotated from the squad have failed to win in four games at Celtic Park, and any combination of Celtic’s best assembled ‘stars’ have failed the home support miserably.

The flow of the game was noticeably uninterupted especially if the flow was with Motherwell, where old pro’s were allowed more than slack from Mr Madden, the late foul on Keiron Tierney by Scott McDonald set the youngster back, for the rest of his rolled down socks struggle.

Deila was let down by most of his players including the substitutes nobody played his system well, but some were just awful including Mikel Lustig – was he really there after the toss of the coin? . Nir Bitton who really must learn a tackle without a drag back. Nadir Ciftci should park the invisible caravan he’s towing,

Inconceivable that the game could draw to an end once again in a home defeat with the Ronny system in tatters, and Carlton Cole only brought on to make Nadir Ciftci look lean.

    Déjà vu csc

Respect your opinion mate but we cannot accept being pi*hed on at home by Motherwell

This seasons European ” campaign ” was simply embarrasing. we may be top of the league but with the

overwhelming resources we have that is a given. After 10 minutes of the kilmarnock game my daughter who is 12 said ” we aren’t going to score here”. Did you see them against the sheep yesterday. Her under 13’s team could score against them.

  28. HT

Looking for four bud for Stranraer. Almore, his brother, Eddie and myself. Thanks C.

  29. Im disappointed with Ronny cos he has lost 2 games in the last 26 domestic games the team has played….. I want Celtic to win all our games no team should be beating us…….im a great sportsman ….to hell with competition

  30. DD

I’ve got one spare already but I spoke to a guy I know yesterday and he thinks he’ll be able to sort it.

    Ps Dena needs one too.

  31. CultsBhoy can not relate to Celtic Board ambitions on or off the park on

The correct appointment could easily add 10,000 on to match day attendance. No ideas what that means financially but it would allow us to go for a bigger name manager.

No appointment could take 5,000 off match day attendance.

I think the Board have painted themselves in to a corner. I’m not doing a retrospective critique here because I thought Deila was worth a punt. We’ve had a go and it’s not been worth it. We had the luxury of no Huns to compete with so I can see the reasoning behind it.

The game is changing. Crowds are down and the natives are severely restless. We have the probability of genuine challenge at home. We need European money next season.

The Board need to give the boat a shove and bring in a £1m/ year manager who controls player movement. He’ll probably justify his salary by avoiding some of the costly duds we’ve been landed with over the last 2 – 3 years.

Managers of this calibre will expect a transfer kitty. Even if we give £10m it will be recouped by European money.

This approach would increase and reinvigorate the support.

This is a strategy for growth – almost the opposite of what we have now.

So we go for experience or we go for Henke with a lower profile more experienced no 2….
