    Further thoughts on yesterday.

     

     

    I posted this yesterday, here are some expanded thoughts.

     

     

    The Celtic board have huge decisions to make 

     

     

    1 Support Ronny or sack him .

     

     

    I am not suggesting the board will or should sack Ronny . However we are days away from the financial half year end and the board will be reviewing that and deciding whether any change is needed, in any major area of plan or how the plan is being delivered.

     

     

    Anyone who thinks this won’t happen is naive . It would have happened if we had been 15 points clear and in the CL last 16, although it would have been an easier discussion. It’s called responsible management.

     

     

    I have no insight as to whether the board will do anything with Ronny, and in a situation where he has delivered some good stuff and some disappointments , you would need to be involved in the business at board level to make that call.

     

     

    2 How much to spend in January.

     

     

    This is a key decision as it impacts point 3 below. I have concerns with the track record of recent recruitment. We have had one ” home run ” in the last 7 transfer windows . 

     

    Thats way below our previous performance levels. We have to recognise that recruitment is extremely challenging, however we excelled at it previously using many of the same people. Spending heavily to potentially recruit more Boerrighter’s or Amido Balde’s would be damaging, equally we have some glaring needs for the squad and these have to be filled. 

     

     

    3 Find a way to re-energise fans.

     

     

    Heavy spending will buy some short term relief, maybe firing the manager might as well. However it would be extremely irresponsible to do either as a measure to reduce the heat and noise. 

     

     

    Res 12 is incredibly trick for the board. Anyone who things the board aren’t disgusted by David Murray’s cheating is 100% wrong. If anything they are more outraged than we as fans are. They were cheated as fans and as professionals. They received pressure and criticism for not beating a cheat. They lost bonus’ across the board , from the office girls to the CEO because Murray cheated. That is painful on multiple levels for them. They couldn’t follow through on projects , some people lost their jobs . All because of a cheat , who has been given protection by the SFA.

     

     

    Should Celtic speak out more aggressively than they have so far they risk the welfare of their staff. We have already seen how the lunatic fringe of the Rangers support react in these situations. 

     

    We also know the vast majority of the media are not sympathetic to Res 12. The only way to progress this is quietly and professionally. No matter how tempting to shout from the rooftops . 

     

     

    The board have to look at everything in the 3 points above and any fair minded person will realise these are extremely challenging issues. We can fire suggestions or criticisms from the sidelines, but they have to live with the consequences. They will rightly look long and hard before making decisions

    IMO Ronny will be given until CL qualifiers. He will be publically backed by the CEO in coming week and in January an attempt to pacify the support will come in the form of McGeady on loan (or a similar type signing). If BDO don’t get leave to appeal there will also be a mealy mouthed club statement about the need to re-visit the LNS investigation. This will be tied in with our support for an expanded 16 team league.

     

    Result, we win the league (narrowly) and maybe one cup, we fail to qualify for CL for third successive season but as there will be a Rangers in top division next season, STs will sales will increase significantly and there will be much back slapping and merriment in the board room. Stubbs will be Celtc manager if CL qualification is lost again, working to the same broken model of (non) team building and recruitment.

    The night on Sportscene. When Michael Stewart ex Hibee and Jambo said that the players and he was one of them at Hibernian didn’t like John Collins methods in training.and was to much interested in himself. I like Michael Stewart but I think he should have kept them things about John Collins private.because the gullible in our support that was enough for them that Collins was not a good appointment. And that my friends is what’s the matter with our support a lot of us fall into the trap that the media tell us. We’ll not for me I have my own opinions I don’t need people who don’t support my team.to mix it all the time.I say give the management team at least the next 3games and see what happens. If changes are needed then so be it.

    yesterday’s result should not come as a surprise, this has been long overdue. We have no pace, nobody willing to make a forward pass, to many side , back or misplaced passing. Our throw ins, corners, free kicks all seem unrehearsed ( what are we doing at training).

     

    To many players are being selected and asked to play out with their best and natural position, a winger is a winger, simples, why o’ why select a centre mid play and not play them there, madness.

     

    To many players hiding when the going gets tough.

     

    I could go on and on, I know we cannot win every game, but with our current crab playing style we won’t, what has happened to the RD ‘high tempo’ football we were promised, play players in their normal positions, if you lose the ball hunt in packs , get the ball, move forward, quickly and at pace.

    Big Cup Winners

     

    Not sure if we should give up on Ronny yet afterall he seems to have tamed wild boy “Griff” into a proffesional footballer after many on here thoughthe was a Lost Cause. I think our games against Molde home and away were very very poor but I think Ajax, Fener and us thought they were cannon fodder. Ajax probably saying like us and Fenner (in Dutch & Turkish)were the feq did they come from. How many on here thought we would come home from Amsterdam & Istanbul undefeated.

     

    We cannot please all the people all the time but some posters on here are constantly negative and to them I suggest they go elsewhere or Paul67 should block them, No its not blocking discussion there must be at least something PLC do right even if its only the type of toilet rools in the bogs. Must admit if PL or DD inspect or leave that to the living wage employees.
