Ahh but why are England so pish when they play in hot climates, or maybe I should read the book :o)

Eagle Inn as in next to Shell Station before Woodside St?

Never known or met an Albion Rovers fan in 6 plus decades.

Although my youngest brother did play for them in the 80s.

There was no one from Coatbridge attended the Celtic CSC in Kearney when I used to go down there, at least to the best of my memory. I’m still very friendly with some members and, knowing I’m from Airdrie, I’m sure they would know a Coatbridge member and inform me.

  3. I thought I had endured the day from hell sitting in St Johns hospital in Livingston all day with Mrs LB waiting on LB junior making an appearance but from the sound of some posters tonight the team that played at Paradise resembled one of the worst Celtic sides in history.

Pre-season is for trying things out and fitness. During the 90’s the highlight of our season was beating teams from England in testimonials and friendlies. Our players regularly reminisce about those matches…….oh wait a minute they don’t!

The league is priority. Europe as always is a bonus. The first team will he ready. Neil Lennon is more experienced than almost all of his peers. We have a Lisbon Lion in the dug out. Was Thommo really the brains in the coaching staff???

Where the feck is this baby? I’m going nuts!!!!!

Checkout the post again. Never once did I say I was in despair. I said I was bored stiff. Tonight wasn’t entertainment, and if we don’t do something about it, we will be back to these 30,000 attendances pretty quick.

What was the attendance tonight, by the way?

You may be easy pleased and good luck to you. But having seen us gubbed by Braga, Utrecht and Sion, and years before by Artmedia, because we are so slow to get up to speed, I think I can be forgiven to be slightly worried by our progress so far.

Remember, in our heyday, with Henrik and Chris Sutton, we just scraped by this Finnish mob 3-2. Today, we have a far poorer team. Yes, we are far better off than Sevco, but let’s be realistic.

The Huddle at 00:53. They are rated, what? 6th in the world. We are 49th. I despise them, but they win far more away games than we do. End of.

  5. Even when I was a child I believed Celtic could beat anyone in the world at Paradise. Nothing will ever change that view. I wouldn’t go otherwise. We turn up with hope in our hearts and back the side. We are supporters not paying customers watching a product. That’s not Celtic for me. I go to watch my team and celebrate with them when they win and share their pain when they lose. That’s the way my dad brought me up to watch the Hoops. I’m getting emotional now!

    Where is this baby????

  8. Personally, I prefer people who see the glass as nearly full, unless of course you are literally meaning my glass, in which case it is almost empty and high time you poured a wee bit more nectar in there.

When I was a kid, we used to go to games in a family group. One of my cousins was forever “Mr Doom & Gloom”. No matter what happened, he’d always see something to complain about. Win 6-1 and he’d complain about the one we gave away.

We used to fight over who was left sitting next to him, nobody wanted that spot.

One day we went to the stand at Easter Road (old stand that is) and he was stuck the other side of the stairwell on his own. Strange how that game seemed to be much more enjoyable.

Moral is, lighten up guys. Stop being dark clouds. Be optimistic and bring a little light to those around you.

My contribution: Hey, did you hear the one about Rangers….

Always makes you laugh that one!

  11. Thanks for the nice messages. Had a terrible day and was looking forward to reading some banter and got a lot of doom and gloom. Can’t be that bad! Can it? Celtic still need a Roy Aitken type leader for me but I think we will beat Helsinki at Paradise. If we are to lose away from home we must score! Celtic to scrape thro for me. I was the man who put a tenner on Celtic to win the league after the 4-0 St Mirren game under Mogga tho and stuck it on the work notice board. Always shuts the Huns up when you say my cash is on my team where is yours?

I think this will be our one and only child. Mrs LB has a liking for wine and Malboro Lights that she struggled to give up for this baby. She has also got a taste for attending Hibs v Celtic matches and hitting the boozers with the Celtic support! Why did I take her.

  14. to be honest i do not know how good helsinki are but if we play as we are at the

moment i would not be very confident because we are very poor and again only

in my opinion we have average players by and large who can cope with a poor

spl in the long run but again in one off matches we can be easily matched, i accept

we are a poor team outside of spl and i dont like it, honestly some of the players in our team do not deserve more that a couple of grand a week at best yet some are

on nearly ten times that which is repulsive considering their ability or lack off should

    i say.

  15. Just popped in for a quick gander from the traditional preseason boo bhoys. I see nothing much has changed. Livibhoy, isnt this 2 weeks early for Mrs.LB? I hope all goes well for you. Keep me informed via e mail.

  16. 'crushed nuts?' 'Naw, Layringitis!' on

listened to talksport earlier, Darryl King doing his usual: ranjurz have been punished enough; FTT hasn’t delivered a guilty verdict, so talk of stripping titles is premature; Swaldo & green negotiating for the benefit of scuddish fitba.

He either doesn’t understand or refuses to accept the following:

    Rangers don’t exist

Rangers were guilty of operating dual contracts

    Rangers traded whilst insolvent

Rangers used a number of illegal/irregular tax avoidance/efficient/bent schemes

    Rangers don’t exist

Rangers used their financially beneficial but illegal schemes to obtain an unfair advantage

RANGERS are expected to be granted a transfer of their Scottish Football Association membership today which will allow them to begin their newly-constituted era with an already sold-out Ramsdens Cup first-round tie against Brechin City at Glebe Park on Sunday.

    • Charles Green hopeful of securing SFA membership in time for Sunday’s Ramsdens Cup match against Brechin City

    • Talks with Stuart Regan went “very well”; Green hopeful that membership will be finalised “within the next 24 hours”

    • “As far as I am concerned now we have no outstanding issues with the SFA. It’s now purely process and documentation”

Negotiations between Charles Green’s Sevco consortium and the Scottish football authorities were understood to be nearing a conclusion last night, although the SFA were not in a position to make any formal announcement by close of business.

The Scottish Premier League’s pursuit of a television deal which would include Rangers’ fixtures in the Third Division of the Scottish Football League, thereby preserving BSkyB’s interest in Scottish football, was among the obstacles to agreement being reached on the soon-to-be-liquidated Ibrox club’s SFA membership being transferred to Green’s newco.

But it is understood the SFA anticipate being able to issue the membership today, following further talks between their chief executive Stewart Regan and Green. As part of the deal, Rangers will accept the 12-month signing embargo imposed on them by an SFA Judicial Panel for bringing the game into disrepute under former owner Craig Whyte’s calamitous tenure.

It will begin at the close of the current transfer window on 1 September, allowing Rangers manager Ally McCoist some leeway to build a squad for the forthcoming season in Scottish football’s fourth tier. Former Hearts players Ian Black and Craig Beattie both trained at Murray Park yesterday in anticipation of potential moves to Rangers. “We are making good progress,” said Green yesterday. “I spoke to the chief executive of the SFA, Stewart Regan, this morning and that went very well. I have also just spoken to [SPL chief executive] Neil Doncaster and I will be meeting both of them later today.

“I’m really hopeful now that, within the next 24 hours, we can have this thing signed and sealed and Alistair can start loading his players on a team coach to go up and try to win a match on Sunday.

“Most of the things are now clear to all parties. As far as I am concerned now, we have no outstanding issues with the SFA. It’s now purely process and documentation. We have no issues with the Scottish Football League and just some minor points to resolve with the SPL and I’m hopeful we can do that today.”

Sammi definitely was the brightest star on show tonight.

Had some surging runs and had he been sharper/match fit, he might have nabbed a goal or two.

  24. Lubo's two feet on

Thought it was a decent showing by some of our players today.

The back four looks solid without the inclusion of kelvin, sorry to say he is not reliable. I think izzy charlie and thomas are all starters for wednesday and matthews is more than likely unless we need more height depending on how helskini play then lustig is an able replacement, he had a steady game tonight.

Liked the look of mccourt and twardzik tonight, both have a good touch and awareness but we lacked a bit of dig in midfield. Commons will again be a big player for us this season but mcgeough wasn’t involved much tonight, didn’t seem like he was playing with confidence, didn’t take on his opponent often. I’d go with kayal brown ledley and commons. As much as victor is a great tackler, i still think he is prone to losing the ball with a misplaced pass or hitting the ball too far in front of himself.

I think everyone agrees on murphy. Hooper and sammy up front, let sammy play out wide and run at defenders. Still undecided about bangura, not had much of a chance.

Its preseaon bhoys, would love to see us scoring tons but we haven’t played with our strongest team yet. At the end of last season we had a young team with lots of potential, we are still that same team. 12 goals in the last 5 competitive games, positive thinking.

Good to see the norwich fans doing the huddle and sing ‘don’t sell mccourt’, safe journey to all of them.

    We need 30 minute updates.

This is like the 80s when I had to listen to the BBC World Service on the short wave for Celtic scores.

When they were tuned to any other game the reception would be clear as a bell. However, when they cut to CP for news of a goal or significant incident, I would be greeted with hisses and crackles as I furiously moved the radio to try and improve reception.
