Meted out, yes, but why to Sevco, a completely new entity?
We are in uncharted waters because the SFA and the SPL have just been making the whole charade up as they go along. It has taken the entire pre-season and they still don’t seem to know what to do.
It’s interesting though because sooner or later someone at Hampden is going to have a Eureka moment and realise that if it’s unfair to impose Rangers’ merited sanctions on Sevco because it’s a different entity, then Sevco have to begin at the beginning and play wherever teams with no licence and no bank account play, which is a long way below SFL Division 3.

Why are they even discussing punishments. Newco should not be allowed into any Scottish league without 3 years accounts. Oldco should be punished retrospectively if found guilty. If Newco are the continuation of Oldco they should be punished if Oldco are found guilty and they should also be responsible for Oldco’s debts, so step forward Hector!
Agree with that, yet we have the odd footballer interviewed recently saying that the days of turning up for pre-season overweight are gone, they have diets to follow and exercise programmes. This ‘all about the fitness at this stage’ rips ma knittin.

Back from the game, thought Paddy, Sami, Twardzik and Lustig did well, thought Vic lost the ball in the mid for their goal which looked offside to me, fitness looks better, but we are a long way from being ready for next week. Really delighted with his performance tonight. Good touch, makes the space, sees the pass, makes the pass, confident, loads of energy, he was up, down across the pitch, great to see.
If you get mixed up between him and his twin brother, he’s the identical one.

Just in from the game and haven’t read back yet so apologies if this has already been covered. I saw enough tonight to convince me that Wilson, Murphy and Bangura should all go – even if they are not replaced. It would at least free up some salary. Both Victor and Lustiq were much more effective than Wilson in the centre of defense and why Murphy and Bangura get anywhere near the pitch is a complete mystery to me.

Agree. Sevco shouldn’t be punished. But Rangers fc, if in name only, should be. For it to be used as a means to barter with takes the ridiculously blatant gerrymandering to another level.
Can’t believe much hasn’t been said about this. I suppose we’ll have to wait and see…but I’d rather the fans– who stood up when it came to the vote [which shouldn’t have even been entertained] — would have been more proactive about this.

Back to earlier thread (had to sign off). I lived in the Parade then moved round the corner to the posh hooses in Sannox Gardens opposite the park. That was where Philip and Gerry lived. My parents were very active in Our Lady of Good Counsel, mainly in the choir. Been a while since I was back there. Was too young to frequent the Lea Rig but remember it well. I used to walk up to Riddrie to school every day at St Thomas’s. Occassionally would get a free ride on the back of the bus until the conductor threw me off.

Just in from the pub. Have not read previous posts. Watched that travesty stupefied by ennui. As a Celtic fan for over 50 years, it is difficult for me to believe the depths to which we have sunk. No goals in 4 games – no goals in 6 hours, 2 goals in 450 minutes. This is supposed to be entertainment?
But it is a pre-season game you say. Excuse me, but it was a pre-season game for Norwich as well. Their season starts off 2 weeks after ours, and they don’t have a Champions League game in a weeks time. So why are we not winning these games instead of the opposition?
Let’s look at our performance – no pace, no drive, no penetration, no imagination, no goal threat, no movement, no width. Did anyone see one single piece of skill in the entire 90 minutes? Murphy – taxi. Wilson – taxi. Twardzik? I’ve seen a wider five pound note. Too easily pushed off the ball. Why on earth is he not in the weight room?
Watched Chelsea play PSG in New York. Pre- season friendly. Both teams RAN at each other the whole game. Any player who received a pass was already moving. Contrast that with our plodders. Everybody static, no one offering an option. Does anyone else notice something that has driven me nuts about Celtic for years? Just watch Celtic players play a square ball. Does the ball go ahead of the receiving player to encourage him to move? Almost never. Most of the time it is delivered behind, absolutely killing any momentum.
Our corners are completely crap. How many of Commons’ corners went beyond the last man? Answer? Almost all of them.
Don’t get me wrong. I never miss one single game. Never. But Celtic must be the most frustrating team on earth.
One last piece of advice for Celtic, and I reall hope someone at the Club glances at these blogs. The temperature in Philly for the Madrid game is likely to be 40C or 100F and exceptionally humid. If we play in an all black strip, the players will feel like death from the first minute. A few years ago, we were utterly humiliated 4-0 by DC United’s second team. The Celtic players complained that is was 85F and humid. What they didn’t realize was that there had been a violent thunderstorm before kick-off that had reduced the temperature by 15 degrees.
From what I have seen so far this season, I think we will be totally embarrassed and utterly humiliated by Real Madrid in front of a world wide audience, and in front of a US audience that is already convince we are pash.
I’ll be glad to be proved wrong.
