    Cheated over a decade ????

Am 47, and since 2012 is the nearest we have been not cheated, the unbiased refs still can’t help themselves BUT might not suit some but on the field we are winning and for me and people I know that’s where we want to win

Better hit my kip just remembered it’s an inservice day for the wee blade but I need to at least show face fir a Monday ….

Glad Celtic are in the next round but as this weekend nears an end

Liam Miller gone far too early but never forgotten

Thank you, I’m well. I hope you are doing fine. Is the girl supporting right teams ? She’s working for right people.

  3. It seems there is a bit of a power struggle going on at the SFA. King met with Patrick Thistle and Ross County recently I’ve read, it sounds like he is canvassing. Lawwell has spoken out praising some people and conspicuously leaving out others, notably McRae and Petrie. I would love to think the Compliance Officer has opened a can of worms that some people at Hampden think should be opened up and others want to seal shut. Then again it could be unrelated.

I listened to the Lawwell interview with Tom English, it was at Celtic Park so we assume Tom was invited and that Peter used the interview to get a message out there. What his reason for that was, we don’t know. I wouldn’t read anything into PL’s comments about Regan, he’s not going to slate him in public, Executives don’t get involved with that kind of thing. From the outside looking in, it seems that something is afoot, maybe, and this is only a maybe, the SFA board have thrown Regan under the bus in an attempt to save themselves. Perhaps PL’s message was marking a few cards letting them know that wont be enough, or something to that effect.

I never mentioned collusioni i’m talking about business men doingt what business men do, wether they are are Celtic or huns, they weigh up financial opportunities in terms of what it means to shareholders. Peter lawell doesn’t make decisions based on morality or the feelings of Celtic supporters.

Excellent stuff today from you all about the SFA & Celtic’s actions & letters.

Really appreciate all of this being aired on this Celtic blog site.

    Just wanted to say.

    MAGICAL.

An incredible Talent that CELTIC have.

Anyone having issues over past few days? Slow loading, having to turn phone on it’s side to see last page number?

    Just me?

Done the usual , cleared cookies, website history etc, but same?

Nothing major to be honest, but mildly irritating.

Only on CQN I’m having the problem.

    Thanks in advance.

Similar problem on Saturday,I think, with my iPad. But the phone was fine.

Now the iPad is fine and my phone is the same as yours!

  12. THanks bhoys

Bobby, yep. Tried iPad this morning. It’s ok ( well except for adverts!!) but iPhone still same.

Incidentally, these adverts that appear on iPad ( I hardly ever use iPad to be honest) play online golf with my son and that’s it) are apparently generated by sites that you’ve visited?

Can’t be true! The ones on my iPad on CQN this morning would be x rated. ( and no one else can access my iPad)

When you read about people being ejected from/arrested after a holiday flight, chances are it will be a Jet2 flight. As a result, there is absolutely no way I would go to their site.

Guess which airline is advertising at the top of my page?

  14. Morning, just quickly reading back , Bp don’t chuck it mate you are a good poster who never snipes at anyone except Huns which is your right mate , Kevj hope you are ok mate and last but certainly not least TURKEYBHOY hope that wasn’t a flounce because Ifor one enjoy your posts

  15. Bobby

Ha. Let me hazard a guess at Jet2:-)

Similarly , though I’m getting a bit nearer retirement, and age is creeping up on me, I don’t yet need help for erectile dysfunction .

That was one of the milder ones. There was a lot worse. Lots of woman who apparently live close by looking to “ befriend “ me. You can guess the whole picture:-)

  16. Bobby

On iPhone I get no adverts at all. Absolutely none.

I guess with these “ adverts” some seemingly innocent sites, such as the golf one I use, are not as secure as they could be?

How else can your privacy be compromised?

Seems cut and dried, mate. The ads are scattergun.

To be honest,I do get some which reflect recent browsing-practically every hotel within a ten mile radius of Derry,at the moment!-but usually ones which are clearly not targeted.

Kinda knackers their business model,I reckon.

Agreed re the posters you’ve mentioned. Saw their flounces when I was reading back.

    Hope they change their minds.

Another poster not seen for a good few days is KEVJ. So,I hope all three make a speedy return.

  19. BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS, WEEBAWBABITTY, hey ghuys it will take more than shall we say an exchange of views to put me off, i did post to farhill bhoy last night calling a truce, so as far as im concerned i hope we are all friends.hh.

    Prophylactic. /ˌprɒfɪˈlæktɪk/

    adjective

    1. defending or protecting from disease or infection, as a drug.

    2. preventive or protective.

    noun

    3. a prophylactic medicine or measure.

    4. a preventive.

    5. a device, usually a rubber sheath, used to prevent conception or venereal infection; condom.

Word Origin and History for prophylactic

    adj.

1570s, originally of medicines, “that tends to prevent disease,” from Middle French prophylactique (16c.) and directly as a Latinized borrowing of Greek prophylaktikos “precautionary,” from prophylassein “keep guard before, ward off, be on one’s guard,” from pro- “before” (see pro- ) + phylassein, Ionic variant of phylattein “to watch over, to guard,” but also” cherish, keep, remain in, preserve” (see phylactery ).

The noun is first recorded 1640s, “a medicine or treatment to preventdisease;” meaning “condom” is from 1943, replacing earlier preventive (1822), preventative (1901). Condoms originally were used more to thwart contagious disease than to prevent pregnancy.

    Sandman.

It is interesting that you say start being an accountant and stop being a bookkeeper. I could actually pretty easily turn that back on you.

I think what Celtic are doing right now is ultra cautious but actually bordering on reckless for the long term.

My chosen field is risk management. Risk management isn’t about ensuring that you take minimal risks is about err, well risk management. Celtic take a parsimonious approach to their dealings (if I am being kind more on which later) maybe because they are scared of a mistake leading to financial difficulties and of course they should be wary of that. So if Celtic didn’t qualify for the cl for 2 seasons in a row say then our wage bill may be a bit scary. But we have other mitigation so here. For example selling players, careful contract management to ensure everyone isn’t on 4 year deals at the same time etc. All simple stuff.

However by taking the approach they do Celtic actually increase the chances of failure exponentially. Further by taking a shorter term view (contrary to what you say they are doing) they have no longer term growth or success ambition. So their commercial risks they ignore other than the short term commercial risks which can be managed differently.

All of what you say presupposes that I want Celtic to be reckless. Far from it I don’t.

But for a football club Celtics approach makes no sense.

All of what I have said above presupposes that the board actually do have the clubs best interest at heart. There is plenty going on to place that in doubt. Whether it’s their obvious collusion in this corrupt country or it’s a dubious bonus culture for senior executives and neds or it’s the long term goals dermpt Desmond being utterly unclear ( what is clear is that there is no emotional investment in Celtic from him). See I wouldn’t be surprised that if the bank balance keeps growing like this we end up in bonus dividend territory. It would be controversial but it isn’t unheard of.

But Paul will distract is with tales of Celtic overseeing how Lewis Morgan is wiping his bottom correctly thereby deftly ensuring we don’t notice.

    ===============================

    Just catching up…

Its a common shout, spend more money. But you don’t factor the following into any of your points:

*Players with the talent to improve us but at the same time not quite good enough for a big league yet are a scarce commodity

*In the event we find one, its not a done deal – not all players want to come to Scotland

*Every club in the land has a scouting system(well, except one!) and are watching the same matches

*Players ~£5m+ can now demand wages we haven’t paid before

*How many current players are going to demand parity or a significant increase if the wage structure is smashed?

*No amount of spending can ever guarantee CL progression – particularly going forward with a

    tougher qualifying route.

How can you work in risk management and ignore the particulars of the ‘risk’ part? Lots of factors at play that are critical to the process and deserve equal consideration.

  22. I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking the bhoys need to get on a 3 or game run of games with convincing performances and results to alleviate our growing uneasiness at the recent performances.

I was convinced the Dubai break would see the batteries recharged but we remain lethargic.

Charley. Needs a free role. He’s getting the attention of 2 opposition players every time he gets the ball. I’d be telling him to drift wide left and right to pull the opposing players out of position.

Jozo. Extremely concerning was his lack of focus on Saturday. He’s not as bad a player as he looked!

I really hope we stiffen up for Zenit.

    Reading back.

You know the problem with blogs,? Most of us see ourselves as amateur psychologists, and read between lines and quite often make incorrect assumptions about people we’ve never met. If there is no response to a post we make, we think we are being uninteresting, or worse still, ignored.

I think as time passes, and more posts are made, we begin to get a more informed picture of the person behind the blog name. If a new poster appears, with a negative opinion, he’s a Hun. ( quite often true, but without more history, we are effectively pigeon hole-ing someone unfairly.

I still remember Tony D’s first fewposts on here. I immediately had him down as a Tim poster! I thought this guys a Hun, trying too hard. How wrong can you be!!

Anyhow, post away fella and don’t take it too personally if someone blanks you or has ( what you consider) a pop at ya.

Never announce a flounce:-) . Take a couple days out if you feel angry. You’ll be surprised at how many folks start asking about your wellbeing when you’re posted missing.

  25. Twists N Turns

So we need some football viagra then ;-)

We need to take more risks going forward. We’ve become too complacent, and instead of committing opponents, we move the ball sideways, or backwards.

I get the need to retain posession, but when that stifles creativity a lot of the time. Our centre backs need to carry the ball past their immediate opponents. This draws other opponets towards the ball, and creates more space for our midfield. Midfield also need to attack, and get the ball to players like Forrest, Sinclair, and Roberts when he returns, who have the skill necessay to go past our opponents.

We seem to play with a fear of failire, or of making a mistake, and tend to take the safe option more often than not. This needs to change.

If we haven’t employed a sports psychologist, then perhaps it’s something we need to try, even on a consultant basis.

    HH

  26. Oops. An extra “when” in there, and a failure to spell failure properly.

Oh. And one other thing. I took a wee break from here and no-one asked about me……..it’s enough to make me want another break :-))))

  27. MWD

We brought in Brendan. At a cost. Sinclair. At a cost.

Within 12 months, the strategy, which many of us screamed out for, produces glorious results.

    Treble delivered. Bank balance healthy.

Are we now returning to the “ we need to be careful or we’ll end up like the Huns” mentality?

I hope not, but slowly but surely, with each passing transfer window, it seems that way.

I’ll hold fire until the summer window to see how much is spent on the playing side, you know the bit we are interested in, before I make up my mind as to what the board see as a winning strategy.

  28. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

    TRADITIONALIST88

My thoughts on NEGANON’s post are similar to his,by my understanding of it. Where we differ slightly is in that even I don’t dislike the board as much as he does!

The point being that our opinion of the board means that our opinions of their actions are frequently waved away as ad hominem attacks.

    They are far from that.

While I understand your concerns as raised-yes,there are many jealousies re wages in a dressing-room,for instance, and scouts the world over with DVDs and OPTA-style feedback and info-that is an excuse to do nothing.

Management of a business is never about doing nothing. Nor is it about stockpiling what’s left of your profits after paying tax on them until you need a splurge because you failed to invest those profits to improve while you were doing well.

How much is our current turnover? How much did it drop to in the days when banners replaced fans? Stripping out the profits from transfers, the drop would have been a lot worse.

Then when spending became unavoidable-the fans had had enough and were voting with their feet-back came the fans, back came the quality on the pitch, back came the profits.

That I think is what NEGANON means by Risk Management. Certainly what I understand stand it to be. Its about recognising and realising value rather than running scared of headline costs.
