Agree with you there mate, KT was instructed to stay back, early on Sinky worked his way down the wing with no support KT, it looked as though we were out of shape at times going forward, twas good to see them revert to a more comfortable game plan in the second half.

Anyway I would like to wish all the other Scottish teams luck in Europe tonight, however I just cant bring myself to do it , so good luck to the Hibs n Dons teams tonight, and to the other wan , just go away and die ya scourge on society ye..

I said last season to my Sevco colleagues See if you turn up

at Ibrox or Celic park and the 3 Amigos are in our starting 11

    just go home.

    For your own good

But best of all is you can see they are all best buddies

No petted lips if the other shots instead of passing just a wee smile

I think Moussa giving Eddie penalty at Hampdump summed it up.

Just get them on the park together.

I am wondering where McGinn would fit into that midfield.

Who would make way for him?

exactly , if Br or someone at the club wants him then wait, there is no rush patience is a virtue.

why weaken Hibs where he would playing 1st team football other than warming our bench or playing reserve football.

  5. “The club are working hard behind the scenes to try and get some signings in.”

    Brendan Rodgers.

Quite obviously, the man is a liar. Well, either that or some posters don`t know as much as they think they do. Surely not.

PS …..and on that rather sour note, the people sitting behind me last night don`t deserve a successful Celtic.

  6. For the second game on the trot, I thought Calum McGregor, Odsonne Edouard and James Forrest were all superb. They have matured and acquired a presence that was shown only in glimpses last season. Of course they all played well but I sense something vital has been added.

On the down side, I felt Broony displayed, again,a less dominant persona than last season. Of course he had Broony moments but I sense a waning of his power. I hope I am wrong.

  7. Hunderbirds are Gone on

Before the second leg we could do worse than seek some advice from Jean Luc Picard and/or Captain Janeway. We played well in the first leg and gave the Borg a bit of a bloody nose. However, I urge caution for the second leg, and we will need a plan B, as famously the Borg will adapt if we play them like we did last night.

However, on this occasion I feel we have their measure, and their claims that “Resistance is futile” and “We will be assimilated” have a bit of a hollow ring to them.

I watched in the Happy Hangover Sports Bar, The Punter Irish Pub (a couple of doors along) also had it on. Both have Celtic TV. They are on Ruo do Clube Nautico, one street back from the marina.

McGinn will just have to be patient. He’ll get his move ,and in the meantime he still gets to skelp sevvies with Hibs! Not a bad life!-))

  10. Great team performance last night. 3 goals a game minimum , not quite DBBIA obligatory 5-0 but looking good nonetheless. It has been a terrific start to the season so far.

Pretty nifty pre match Gazebo also. I had a good chat with among others, Jobo, who was in good spirits and his usual personable self and fully appreciates the goodwill of the blog.

  11. Interesting that comments are being made regarding where JMcG would fit in while others comment that SB is not the dominant player and persona that he was for the team last season.

Time moves on — plus lots of speculation that SB is playing with a strain or he is protecting an injury. Either way we need to plan for the future plus we should never become a one man team.

My thoughts — more time for EK.

Plus a pre contract agreement for JMcG — use the money to boost our quality CB fund.

I would to see him play for us but at the moment we have bigger issues.

  12. Joe Filippis Haircut on

If we are to go through to meet AEK Athens I believe we must score in Norway against Rosenborg if we score that cancels out there away goal. Our second half last night was first class although we should have scored more goals.I found the interview with Brendan before the match where he talked about transfers most strange he seemed a little unhappy. H.H.

    Hot Smoked.

He’s a complete liar. Not only that, he’s in cahoots with Desmond and Lawell to fill his own pockets with the Seville money, transfer revenue and season book sales (I’ve long suspected Paul 67 gets a cut as well for all the propaganda he puts on the site).

I’m not even a Celtic fan but it’s a disgrace that Celtic, CHAMPIONS of Scotland have to start their CHAMPIONS league campaign in the first qualifying rounds, when teams like Liverpool that finished FOURTH in their national league get put straight through to the group stages. It’s all about money. Defeats the whole purpose of the competition being called the CHAMPIONS league. All champions from each league in Europe should be guaranteed a place in the group stage, or at the very least a place in the LAST qualifying rounds. Of the 32 teams that enter the group stage, amazingly 26 of those teams are already guaranteed a spot in the group stage, which leaves the other 70+ teams that are in the qualifiers fighting over the remaining 6 spots. Utterly stupid. F**k UEFA!

Away leg — we need to protect our glass jaw.

The ability is there — just a case we need to work on the attitude.

By all accounts the second half performance means that they now have the “worry”.

If we turn up they will soon have the “fear”.

MIB performance needs to be scrutinised.

Interesting to see if the EUFA gods are with us.

  17. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Disappointed with our French guys last night.

N’tcham should have had at least 2 goals. And the Eddie guy looked to tire, so early in the season it shows he may not last the pace. Factor in the injury prone duo of Mousa and Leigh and we could struggle.

This is no time for Celtic to sit on their laurels. We must swoop and jet-in some CL quality striker. All the money is sitting there why not have a player just sitting there instead ?

We should get a good solid centre back. That failing was there again last night.

There’s not much point in retaining the ball if the opponents can simply hoof the ball up and out muscle our no-solid types.

Ok once we adjusted and got into the groove we destroyed them.

All this retaining the ball stuff, why ? Its not exciting and you hardly get the chance to crack up and vent.

Was good to hear the easily led and influenced brigade targetting Hendry early doors. We can spot problems, add to them too.

Anyone else getting annoyed at Brendan’s defence of his players last night ?

  18. Just a quick thank you to Yogihughes from Tues night. Got to see the game in Puerto del Carmen based on your advice. Thanks again

  19. The boy Hendry being blamed by quite a few for making a bad pass 20 yards from our opponents goal,in the lead up to Rosenborgs goal.Eh ?

Unbelievable guff.Ollie, who had a fantastic 70 minutes, lost easy possesion that resulted in 2 dangerous breaks just before he was subbed,on the halfway line. Not a mention.Passes went astray regularly, all night, from players much more experienced than Hendry. The boy had a grea game up against a very street wise and difficult opponent in Bendtner, but that probably does not suit the agenda of many whingers.

“Celtic were on a different level to us”,Rosenberg coach.

Fantastic performance from ALL the team.

Eddy’s first goal a thing of beauty in a crowded area:))

    ———————————————————————————

That’s French Eddy to you. And his second was even better – one of the best dinks/chips over a keeper since Henrik’s over Brad Friedel. So there.

  21. Good morning CQN from a glorious Garngad

Great result last night, 3-1 at home in Europe is always good.

We still need a quality centre back and right back.

Ajer and Hendry are developing well and are good players that will get better under BR, but we need a bit more in these positions.. IMO

    Hail Hail

    D. :)

  22. I honestly dont know what game many see.Broony now getting a bit of stick!!!!!!!!!!.The guy sacrifices his usual game to help out all over the place,a lot of the time he was on our 18 yard line, yet so many cant see this. What is wrong wit these people?Cant just be delighted with a great win.Someone said earlier”The fans sitting behind him dont deserve this Celtic team”.I could add a lot more from on here.

Madmitch now trying to stir up something about the proposed Arzani signing. If I were you mate,I would be more interested in changeing your blog name, with the connotations that has for many on here.No matter how you try to dress it up.

  23. DAVID 66,

So what was wrong with Gamboa last night?

Would your new CH,take the place of Ajer,or the other two CHs,who would cost around 20 million if they were on the market?

What about signing Waghorn?£8 million seems a snip.

This is the mental market we have to deal in,but dont let that stop you repeating the same stuff,Ad Nauseum.

  24. Bhoyjoebelfast on

Well! Well! I’ll take 3- 1 scoreline next week and the week after it and the week……..in fact a 3-1 result all season!!

  25. Reading the crap from our Ass burrowing SMSM,especially STV,who seem to have led with it,quelle surprise, that the Huns have some sort of bonus to get from the Waghorn money.Funny that, and the timing. Was reading Monkey Media yesterday, and they were ,some of them, bemoaning the fact that this agreement was never put in place.Slaughtering their Board.

Did anyone read about this at the time?Did the notion that he would ever reach these dizzy heights cross a Hun mind?£250,000 they got for him,and were delighted to take it,but now,the guff surfaces.

    Aye right.

  26. STARRY PLOUGH,

French Eddi wears Armani Rhinestone boots.

He does indeed. He got them from me.I sent over 2 dozen pairs, along with 100 Orange strips,in a shipment bought from Mehmets shop here in Turkey.Best quality genuine fakes.

“When I visit Mehmets,I go off my head,

I just cant get enough,I just cant get enough”.

  27. Morning all.

Very happy with last night’s performance.

I thought Gamboa especially showed that he deserves game time. Imo, he adds pace to the team, besides his defensive qualities. I couldn’t understand why our manager never utilised him last season.

I was quite concerned when young Henry made the mistake that led to their goal but he more than redeemed himself for the rest of the match. If we have to play him and Ajer in Norway, I feel a lot better about things. I hope that our manager curbs (for that 1 game) their breaking forward. It is an important part of Celtic’s tactics but they both got caught out too far forward a couple of times.

Hope Dembele is back asap, because he and Eduard are going to run riot and not just in the SPFL.

Long may our football be played the Celtic way,as it was last night. Great to watch.
