  1. BCW,

    Sorry for disappointing you.

I did a couple of years working 3 days, which I found excellent,as I rather enjoyed my work, but it also left Friday afternoon to Tuesday evening free for golf.

I’m about to begin full time retirement (again) from August 1st.

Maybe after that I will be able to concur with you.

I’m sure I will, as 3 days was way better than 5 days work, so zero days work does look attractive.

On Celtic, I love our play atm, power, pace, goals, winning, winning trophies.

    Magnificent, long may it continue.

I feel so lucky to live only 20 minutes from Paradise and love visiting there.

So much so, I went back down there again today, just for a wee wander, even explained the concept of the Gazebo to some random passers by.

I can see where you are with this and whilst I agree re numbers, will Mr McGinn be happy beinga bit part player?

Don’t get me wrong, I think the guy is very good and would be a brilliant buy, but I do worry a tad about where he fits in the pecking order.

  3. Reading back and seeing some mild criticism of Scott Brown. I thought he was very good last night.

I can foresee a situation in the next few years where he drops into a back three when needed. He won’t be a first pick in central midfielder at 35/36. There are similarities with Mascherano in the way his positioning and organisational skills could work in this position and he’s already dropping in there when the CBs split to allow full backs to push on. Just a hunch.

Bit part player at Celtic can still mean 20-30 games a season. Gives an opportunity to state a claim as a first pick.

McGregor is prime example, seen as a squad player under Deila and when BR arrived, still played 30 games a season, now probably one of the first picks and played 55 games last season. McGinn will get a chance, up to him if he takes it.

    ===========

    I’d say…

Brooney, Rogic, Ntcham, McGregor, J.McGinn, Bitton, Kouassi, Allan, Benyu.

  6. Don’t see any real comparisons with McGinn and any of the Celtic midfielders.

Maybe he is closest to Broony in his whirling dervish style of play.

Kouassi looks better positionally and read s the game well.

    Rogic is the maverick.

McGregor the goal threat and link man.

    Nt’cham is our metronome.

Coach will have a place for him so if he says he wants him then we should try to conclude the deal.

No immediate rush but long term planning vital in this crazy financial football environment is essential.

In youngsters like Regan Hendry,Euan Henderson and Kerr McInroy we have some potentially excellent midfielders coming through so future is bright and by then McGinn will have the experience and leadership to help them along.

Anyone know if there is a Wanlockhead CSC? :-)

-there is a bhoy runs around with a tricolour draped over the back seat of his car, and another flyin’ from the ole aerial.

On his jumper he wears an interestin’ mish mash of Star Trek insignia and Provo badges.

However, no shortage of Sevconians either; hidin’ out in the ole hills like those ole Jap sodgers that refused to believe the war was over.

    Traditionalist ….

My opinion… Ntcham might be the most important player we have now … not necessarily the best ….

(personally, I think that is KT. a great LB is as rare as hen’s teeth, and KT is going to be world class… if he isn’t already… if he had spent the last three years playing for Man united… Real would be offering 50 million for him already)…

but, Ntcham might be more important to how the team plays. He is the midfielder we have been crying out for for a while … he links the back and the front well, and ‘gets’ how our strikers like to play…. and plays the killers passes … and has a cannon for a foot, and isn’t afraid to use it …. which means, instead of teams packing defences on the 18 yard line, teams will have to come out to try to stop him from shooting, which is going to leave space being for players like OD and MD to exploit…,

From the little I have seen of Kouassi and McGinn (only seen each a few times), I would take Kouassi every day of the week … but BR has seen Kouassi, and he isn’t getting a regular game, so there must be more to it …

Eurochamps…. again, I would like to see Kouassi play …. I just think the idea of these ‘kafflick/fenian/muslims playing for Celtic would confuse the zombies even more than usual….

I didn’t recognise hoopslegend not so wee James Forrest last night.

several times , playing against us , hibs online and for Scotland , not impressed but as mentioned previously if BR or someone at our club decides to purchase him ( never in a month of Sunday’s worth the price on his head) i will back him all the way.

Great news. Legend. One of the genuine world class players I’ve seen grace the hoops in the 50 years since my first game in Oct 68.

  14. Celtic played some scintillating football last night. Remarkable given the fact that we had so many set backs, even before a ball was kicked.

To perform as they did, this early in the season was a joy to behold.

Both management and players deserve all the plaudits.

    Exhibition stuff at times.

    HH. ?

  15. Since no one is biting on my earlier question on use of metrics taking the price of added quality based on Ntcham at £4.5m and Edouard at £9m and discounting age so that over 30s are age 25 how about this?

    Gordon. £10m

    Lustig £15m

Gambon £3m but £5m if to English club.

Ajer £8m (but moving up fast)

    Henry £2m but will improve

    Tierney £30m and rising.

    Suminovic £4m

Forrest £10m but £15m to England.

    Ntcham £15m

    Rogic £7m

McGregor £10m (but full value not appreciated)

    Brown £10m

Kouassi £2m but will rise if he breaks through.

    Bitton £3m

    Sinclair £4m

    Eduoard £15m and rising

Dembele £15m and rising when hammy stop twanging (like James Forrest used to)

    Griffiths £4m

Rest on bench between £1.5 and £2m unless I’ve missed a regular.

I am using possible transfer deal as no idea of wages but what wages would some of these guys command elsewhere to get an overall impression.

Remember it’s all about opinions and I’m not a professional football manager so we all start off in the same basis. :)

Will miss game as i’m going to Algarve on Monday, raging…….Danny is my all time favourite Celtic player, richly deserved and i am sure he will enjoy the day HH

  17. I was disappointed, though not worried, when we went a goal down last night. I always felt we’d get back into it.

Given our defensive frailties, I thought RBK would be more adventurous going forward but thankfully we contained them well.

    Ref was poor,imo.

I still stick by assertions from last night, had we been up against a half decent team they would have been out of sight in the first 30 mins, I fully accept BR changed things and we steamrollered them for the next hour, But…..
