    Odsonne Edouard is now first choice striker ahead of Moussa and Leigh ( in my opinion)

     

    Thats some progress in the last few months

     

     

    He has that ice in his veins that all top class strikers nned

     

     

    His 2 finishes last night were top class

    A MAN has been arrested and charged in connection with the assault of a priest outside a church during an Orange Walk.

     

     

    The ordeal unfolded outside St Alphonsus’ church on Stevenson Street, near the Barrowland Ballroom, around 4.20pm on Saturday July 7.

     

     

    A 24-year-old man was nicked after it is claimed Canon Tom White was ‘spat on’ and branded a “p****” and a “b***t”.

     

     

    He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday 26 July 2018.

    After a slow start I mentioned to my brother that McGregor and Forrest needed to switch. Once they did we murdered them.

     

     

    Could have scored five or six last night, very impressive second half.

     

     

    Gamboa did well last night, his speed in tracking back on the left side towards the end of the game was terrific.

     

     

    Play anything like that in Trondheim we’ll win there as well.

    My instincts say they must be. But thus is a UEFA competition, so nothing is certain that doesnt involve money for big leagues…..

    McGinn will take Armstrong’s place in the squad, Arzani will take Roberts’s place in the squad (rather it would be Johnston but at least he can go out and play a full season with another Premiership club).

     

    If we’re looking at a back-up LB then we could do worse than Meling of Rosenburg. Impressive last night, and against us last season. Gets up and down the wing and can defend. Norwegian international team mate of Big Kriss.

    I think the metric last showed us is the value of players we bought between reported £4m and £9m.

     

     

    Now if we were to apply that same metric to our first choice team in terms of their sale value how many £4m to £9m players short are we?

     

     

    If you discount the effect of age as in Brown Gordon and Lustig by equating them to a 25 to 28 year old I’d say not many.

     

     

    As I said the other day try looking at and value what is and not on what isnt.

    Brendan’s interview said the same thing, its no coincidence that Hibs value John McGinn at £4M ( optimistically ) and we’ll end up paying nearer £3M if we sign him.

     

     

    Rodgers says it would cost ‘big money’ to improve Celtic and this is a compliment to the squad we already have. As soon as we signed Jack Hendry and Kriss Ajer their values for any resale have rocketed, whilst they develop.

     

     

    If Celtic can’t afford to buy players in the Level1 or Level2 then we won’t buy because we have enough players already, the plan will be unchanged after the qualifiers, and it was always Simunovic Boyata Ajer and Henry.

     

     

    Only should we lose a CB presumably Jozo or Dedryk will Celtic buy, that’s why we need to wait till August, some fans resent the plan. Despite the trebles they want European progress, which Brendan Rodgers has already delivered with two CL qualifications.

     

     

    He may not have taken a ‘big scalp’ ( Neil Lennon Barca ) but gaining qualification twice in a row is success, especially when we are nearly half way to three in a row.

    Clubs which are eliminated during the qualifying period get some co-efficient points for any round that they did get through but the main award is for qualifying for the group stages. It is 4 points for qualifying for the Champions League but that is the total reward for qualifying. The big teams which have pre-qualified already have 4 points awarded to them on the table per below:

    Is McGinn at the same level as Armstrong before Armstrong began working with BR?

     

     

    Armstrong was decidedly average under Ronnie.

    I think last night proved a few things. Rodgers man management and ability to improve players is excellent (although this was never doubted). Looking particularly at McGregor and Forrest.

     

     

    I think it also shows that spending a bit of money to buy first team players and getting those players in for the qualification rounds makes a huge deal of difference. How much money may Edouard’s goals earn us in the end?

    I think an even better comparison is: was Armstrong better at Dundee United than McGinn currently is at Hibs? Armstrong was 23 when he signed for Celtic and McGinn is the same age now.

     

     

    I don’t remember Armstrong having such an influence on games while at Dundee United. I think with Brenda’s oversight McGinn will easy surpass Armstrong.
