I didn’t panic tonight. The players reacted well to the goal. Thought we took time to adjust to a higher tempo that was required. McGregor was excellent making angles and taking play with his back to a marker all night. We look to have been practising rondos and taking and passing the ball when in tight space being closed down.

Ntcham should have had a penalty. I like that he seems to have found his way to goal. He swallowed lots of shots last season but that was some goal and a belter off the bar too.

    Grand night for the Celts!

Ntcham and Eddie, for young Bhoys, their movement and game intelligence , c’est magnifique…

A 24-year-old man has been charged in connection with the alleged assault of a priest outside a Glasgow church.

It comes after Canon Thomas White, 43, was allegedly targeted in a sectarian attack outside St Alphonsus’ church earlier this month.

The incident occurred in Saturday, July 7, during the Grand Orange march through Glasgow

    Roadrunner was excellent.

Loved the moment midway through the 2nd half when the ball got knocked down our left but the wee mhan was covering …. beep beep….????????

  7. I haven’t seen the game only our goals so cannot provide too much comment.

Good comeback and we should have had more but we are a class boxer with a glass jaw.

Our first goal — JH closing in on their 18 yard box …

Good interception by SB saved the day and made the goal but …

Never understood the concept of the “spider press” until I saw how JH lost possession.

Still a bit to do in the tie.

They would appear to be a pretty poor team — they were last season.

However we are as raw as sushi at times and they will be smarting after they threw away a good start. Hopefully I won’t need a sofa for next weeks game.

Hopefully we can use the next week profitably to sort out the squad for the season.

The great CB swapshop looks like it is about to start.

For the record I rate JH — just a case that he is half finished.

He would do a job if he gets the correct support.

We have history regarding this arrangement.

In the 70’s we had PS helping RMcD.

Then in more recent time SP helped out DO’D.

  8. The potential arrival of DA — strange situation developing.

BR’s comments on the player in the Herald seem to suggest he is not in that particular loop.

This transfer window continues to surprise — and not in a good way.

Hopefully things improve as we move forward.

  9. Ntchams quick feet to create half a yard of space to fire home was outrageous.

Love every second of Edouard… what a talent for one so young, if he keeps this up watch for record breaking offers coming in for him in January.

    Stars are being born

    The away leg ?

Counter attacking football suits us big time.

1 goal kill the tie dead

  10. Rosenborg started like a team half way through season …

    Oh wait

    We did extremely well tonight.

    It’s a world cup summer

Transfer movement will kick in shortly

    BE PATIENT

  11. The big players from the world cup are due off thier world cup extended holiday shortly …

I’m NOT saying were being the crop of 5ye international scene ..

We cannot afford the likes of the hazards of this world

No … but we DONT need squad shirt fillers like Comperr either ..

We need better than we have

When the PSGs of the world are buying talent players like Eduoard become available

  12. Somehow managed to post this on the previous thread.

Age doesn’t come on its own.

Extract from tonight’s CQN match report

Meling was next to go into the referee’s book after a clumsily challenge on Forrest as the winger prepared to fart past him on the flank.

I’m surprised James didn’t get a card for blowing the defender aside like this.

In terms of transfers, only in MO’N’s time at the club, did we have a manager who was sought after by top clubs in other leagues, Mr Stein as well, Mr Stein was successful in spite of the board, so, back to MO’N that status gave MO’N clout over the PLC, which the PLC don’t like, and they proved that on a previous occasion, or rather, when Wim had a rising stock, Fergus saw Wim as a threat, and sacked him, throwing the quality of the product on the pitch, into the wilderness for two years.

But, back to MO’N, he had the gravitas, and the balls to take on Desmond, when DD tried to interfere with the recruitment of Chris Sutton.

Brian Quinn, Fergus’s pal, was caught digging tunnels underneath MO’N, when Quinn’s “Our esteemed manager ” texts were exposed.

Quinn, and the rest of his PLC cohorts had been dining at the top tables in European football, for the first time in 33 years, in terms of European finals, and still, they were digging tunnels under MO’N, which led me to conclude that, Celtic FC or its supporter’s, will never realize their true DNA status, till Celtic Park is PLC free.

No manager in all my time supporting Celtic, the late 60’s, early 70’s, has escaped being dumped on, by any Celtic board, Brendan will be no different.

  14. A Superb 2nd half display by Celtic.

Some Wonderful close play and that was before the Magic Feet Tam came on.

Took a night off because I thought it would take ages to get outta Springfield Road, I can avoid the jam if we Leave early. Surprisingly the traffic flowed not too bad.

  15. MBFTJ,

If it is the Junglist Kev, Best Wishes dude.

Brendan made 1 Sub in a game that now means North of £30Million to the Club.

If Celtic get to the CL imProper. There is no way Celtic will only make 2 Subs in a game.

Celtic were way above the level of Rosenborg – 2nd HAUF. Some of the fitba was fantasticque.

Great goal from Fast Eddie last night.

And on the subject, why do golfers not dink???

With Gamboa at right back, could it be that PL plans to present us with Lustig as our new CB??? I’m waiting on it being sold as being like two new signings…

Shaky start, then superior quality prevailed. Some wonderful skills and goals were quality!

More of same next week and very hopeful we reach next round.

  20. Davidopoulos on

Well done the hoops. After a poor opening half 20 – 30 mins (tactically and performance wise) BR changed the set up and Celtic absolutely bossed the rest of the game. Unlucky not to get a penalty decision from a slightly erratic referee but that seemed to lift the crowd, who cheered on the team non-stop for the rest of the match. The French guys were superb and scored excellent goals (Ntcham’s gets better every time you see it). McGregor’s value to the team in European matches was evident again – his passing and movement kept the team ticking. I was a little disappointed in Brown – I thought he played ok but in such crucial matches you expect better than ok from your captain. Forrest, good. Gamboa, decent. Jack Hendry? Apart from a couple of brain farts while in possession in the opposition half (one of which led to their goal) I thought he defended well. He is going to make more mistakes as he develops but he needs our support, not our instant derision as soon as he does make a mistake.

All in all a need that started with a wee shock and some panic I think last night turned out pretty well. Still another match to be played next week to see us through so let’s not get too carried away. Focus and professionalism required in Trondheim!

  21. i'vehadtochangemymind on

Great game, great atmosphere, could a been 5 or 6. Didn’t get going til JF went out wide. Nobody would pass to Gamboa even though he was making runs so everything drifted left. SS was very busy all game. They looked knackered in the second half. Cmcg’s pressurising in the second half was unbelievable.

  22. Some saying there is unrest in Mordor……………………

Windass, Candeias, and McCrorie all been told to buck up, and won’t play tonight

Well last night was a unusual experience to say the least. Only Celtic fan in a pub in Turkey, guy puts on the game for me on a massive TV. While watching the game bar men are dancing on the tables, oh and Michael Jackson look a like appears too and a huddle every time we scored!

  24. 50 shades of green on

    Morning Tims…

3 v 1 win at home ain’t to shabby, fair play to Brendan and the Bhoys after a pretty soul destroying start with the Borg scoring, they turned it round, at half-time those around me were wondering what was up with KT, was he injured? Was he carrying out Gaffers instructions?? However once we swapped him for his doppelganger at half-time all was well again.

For a few seasons now I’ve wondered why we didn’t play Jamsie through the middle a bit more, now I know why.

Big Jack looked a bit shell shocked after his mistake led to the Borg scoring, but Imho Brendans keep it simple chat to him at the interval worked a treat..

Also delighted for our world cup playing right back CG, roadrunner I see hes been called on here, works for me.

As for the French Connection, only 2 of them last night, just as well for the Borg if you ask me.

Motm for me was Eddy but honourable mentions to our own Norwegian and the ferry mhan.

I think KT was under instruction stay back, perhaps to negate Helland who is known for his quality deliveries cutting in from the right onto his left foot. It became evident that Rosenborg’s game plan in the first half was big switch to Helland and try to isolate KT, but that’s a silly plan against a player of KT’s ability. Fortunately, when JF was pushed out wide the whole Rosenborg team dropped back. It makes you think, if JF had started on the wing, would Melling have been so brave to get forward into our penalty box from left back? Ah well, a mistake was made but ultimately rectified.

When I ask some of my Indian colleagues a question a common response is: I’m dinking, I’m dinking – not a ball in sight!

What a fantastic Euro result, this is the best of times. Ntcham and Eddie, Moussa rested, Boyata still to come back. Young squad getting experience and fighting hard for position. This is going to be a great season. Treble treble and a good run in Europe. Mon the hoops.

This new Hun manager certainly has disparaging comments about previous managers. Talks a lot for a guy who has only experienced management at U18 level
