  1. And another thing. If a Celtic player, any Celtic player was stopped mid-play with the same “injury” Emma suffered last night, they would not so much be carried off the pitch, they would be laughed off it.

“And that’s what we’re going to be doing – whether that’s recruitment, academy, business operations, whatever that may be – to benchmark ourselves against the best in class.

    So where is that?

    —————

    We’ve got a guy in from Dundee…..

  4. Celtic Mac

The days of Terry Butcher running around the field in a blood drenched England shirt and a crimson red head bandage are long gone.

Players are now immediately ordered off the field at the first sign of blood. I don’t know how you’ve missed this for at least the last few decades.

Around the time of HIV if I’m not mistaken.

  5. TET @ 7:33 PM,

Yes, a sad state of affairs all round.

    BSR @ 8:05 PM,

What do you mean my mind is already made up?

You are the one whose assumed he was too inexperienced and underqualified… Yes!?

Yet he is a similar age and has more relevant experience than Peter Lawwell when he returned to Celtic.

    So I don’t get that.

I have given examples of where I believe we made progress in a very short period of time with Mr McKay – I have not sought to assume anything.

As for Victim of Celtic Football Club – you will need no reminding what a wonderful, famous and illustrious Club that is.

My issue is with the outdated and incompetent Board. And we have huge evidence for that.

The Board is not our Club!!

The underhand way this Board operates is down to the individuals, individuals who should not be associated with the Great Glasgow Celtic, they don’t hold or emulate the correct values.

I know little of best practice in business but I do know…

For a PLC of Celtic’s size you need more than two executive Directors

You don’t need £40million in cash reserves.

They should be much more open and transparent with stakeholders.

    The renumeration committee is warped.

    The AGMs are a farce.

    Hail Hail

  6. Well done Emma!

The treatment wasn’t gamesmanship, it was required by the rules. A truly unprecedented achievement that was hard fought and not won by abusing the rules.

  7. If your nose is bleeding you have to level the field for attention.Cut to the head, anything.

Snowflakes dont come into it.Thems the rules.

  8. GLASSTWOTHIRDSFULL @ 8:38 PM,

    Precisely… modernisation and innovation

You may have thought Ajax, Red Bull…

Not sure I would compare Emma’s “injury” with Terry Butcher’s.

But you are free to do so

Where’s the DoF DMcK was promised.

    ….

I don’t believe this was ever promised at any point … a review into the best structure was discussed… I don’t believe a DoF is the right title / approach for us … sort of implies the manager reports / subordinate to the DoF even if he isn’t …. Technical Director is what we need … maybe semantics but important

Defence will need to tighten up considerably for Thursday … still good test

  12. Celtic Mac.

This is from The Australian press.

    What do the rules say?

Let’s check section 3.f. of the International Tennis Federation’s Grand Slam Rule Book.

    Beeding

If a player is bleeding, the Chair Umpire must stop play as soon as possible, and the Sports Physiotherapist must be called to the court by the Chair Umpire for evaluation and treatment. The Sports Physiotherapist, in conjunction with the Tournament Doctor if appropriate, will evaluate the source of the bleeding, and will request a Medical Time-Out for treatment if necessary.

If requested by the Sports Physiotherapist and/or Tournament Doctor, the Referee in consultation with the Grand Slam Supervisor or Chair Umpire may allow up to a total of five (5) minutes to assure control of the bleeding.

If blood has spilled onto the court or its immediate vicinity, play must not resume until the blood spill has been cleaned appropriately.

Seems pretty clear cut, if you excuse the pun.

Blood was visibly trickling down the front of Raducanu’s shin, meaning that the chair umpire, Marijana Veljović, had no choice but to stop play.

  13. Go tell the Spartim on

Whining about a medical time out is reminiscent of the American clipe who phoned in whoever was showing one of the women’s golf majors to point out (after forensic video surveillance ) that a European golfer had grounded her club (on one grain of sand) and therefore should’ve gotten a penalty (then the Marshall told the unfortunate player after the event before an important putt ) all to advantage that horrible woman Lexi Thomson

For what it is worth I think you are a clever and funny guy.

Not sure why you let yourself down with the abusive chat.

Shame and not needed. We can agree to disagree.

  15. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

    Chairbhoy

    Yeah, quite.

Last time we hired somebody whose previous appointment was to a club in the Scottish Championship it didn’t go too well. Funnily enough.

Not to worry though – our academy will start producing some top young players in 20 years once the big men and big women have got together!

    Modernisation, the Celtic way….

  16. EKBHOY @ 8:56 PM,

It is semantics and I do very much agree semantics can be very important.

Though in this case not so much.

For clarity the position I was referring too was the one where Fergal Harkin was front runner.

I think Sporting Director was the title used. Replacement for Nick Hammond but a very different role.

A position of sporting Director was offered to Lee Congerton, after Brendan Rodgers left, Brendan had stated he was head of the football department.

They are interesting distinctions no doubts and we need to nail the requirements down.

A head scout in a “DoF DoS” type role is not what we need.

I’m not sure where a Technical Director would be in this regard – though I bow to your better knowledge and say it could well be what we need.

But a proper review of the structure and the type and actual personnel needed is well overdue.

    Hail Hail

  17. Ernie

Re Denmark and their defeat of covid.

I agree their number of jabbed is approx 10% above ours. I respect your numbers but we may have a different source. Mine is the Swedish newspaper Aftenbladet and the Telegraph ( uk not dundee ).

Their PM stated 72% jabbed by Thursday.

    The significant things are demographics.

    95% of old and vulnerables

    80% of 30-49yo

    41% of 15-29yo

    21% of all under 30

No one is being coerced into taking this thing if they don’t see a benefit and a balanced view is being offered. No pariahs if they don’t agree.

They also benefit of course from not having the levels of obesity / drug and alcohol abuse which we have and are usually in the top 3 countries in the world for individual happiness.

I can’t help but wonder if Scotland being led by someone whose track record in overseeing health for directly or indirectly for 15 years might not wish to consider her position and show some humility on health matters occasionally but that is another matter.

  18. Ernie

Apologies my final para was clearly written in a foreign language. I meant after 15 years in charge of health where results have been so poor then she may show some humility.

  19. GLASSTWOTHIRDSFULL @ 9:15 PM,

    True:))

The aul Scottish genetics being given a helping hand…

Natural selection giving way to Stranchansteins…

It could be the way forward

    Hail Hail

  20. Chairbhoy

I would love to think that is happening.

Much as I love GS I don’t think he is the man to lead that.

  21. PETEC Don’t call me a liar ,and a Zombie ,it was just my assessment of how the Stadium was in need of a makeover,As being a Zombie you are barking up the wrong tree,60 odd yrs watching Celtic season ticket holder and pay as you go fan,and that’s all I’m going to say ,

  22. Celtic Mac.

Although everything I posted was from an Australian on line press report.

I’m with Aipple, as he said.

The treatment wasn’t gamesmanship, it was required by the rules. A truly unprecedented achievement that was hard fought and not won by abusing the rules.

    Hi Uk

UJ-The blog owner gets to decide on content.

AT- agreed.we tho can post on any topic.it has always been so

UJ-However, incredible that there has been no article on our recent CEO departure.

AT- It only happened on Fri,but as said above you are free to post your views on what you think.

UJ-is our recruitment process badly flawed? Do we carry out due diligence?

AT-a)I would suggest not flawed at all as DMs appointment was smooth and slick, those ol City headhunters earned their dough

b)I would say they did.both sides were content at start

UJ-Are we stronger today than we were last week?

AT- we are obviously down a man on the board side.both Ange(by way of comments in his own interview) and the team(by way of result) seem unaffected.

DM will be replaced, its up to Celtic to modernise and there are many areas we can do that in

    Hope your good :-)
