    Felt that Craig Gordon should have got a red for that foul, however, that wee shite McCann going apoplectic re. the decision. Thank God he was booked, or there would be another trial by Sky Sports, a la Boerritger. Fair play to Chicco, he’s not taking any of McCann’s pish!!

    Good 3pts job done, but we need to vastly improve the basics our passing , corners and throw ins etc. very poor, defensively we are poor positionaly , not convinced with Boyata and our other new recruits but early days, EA should never have been moved to LB.

    These early season games that come sandwiched between two important CL qualifiers are never easy. Today it seemed to have an effect on our concentration levels as our passing was pretty sloppy at times. An incredible 15 corners in the second half and not a single goal to show for it. Big Virgil was being manhandled in the box at each corner but the MIB was happy to ignore that.

     

     

    Hope the Griffs is fit and well for Wednesday – he seems to be the only forward on our books that knows the way to goal.

     

     

    Still 3 points and a clean sheet is an ideal start to the campaign.

    2-0. 3 Points. Flat performance and passing poor. Tierney had a great game. KC showed th way when he came on. Hope Leigh is ok.

     

     

    Specific is very poor I’m afraid. So we are very light up top.

    Thought Scepovic grew into the second half, had some nice touches & showed good movement just crying out for some quality service into the box. Would like to see him get a run of games & increase his confidence. Better option than Ciftci for me.

    I don’t think Gollums front or back eyes were working very well today. Their CB had his arms round Virgil “Juventus” style at every corner.

    Fastest ever trip back from CP today and I left after the final whistle. Thanks to a good parking spot as I was in early. Big thanks to all who contributed to the Kano bucket collection- you are all stars and make me proud to be among you. Managed to meet some upreviously unmet CQNrs like Barrachobampot. Hope you fund Lennybhoy and Pat.

    Ronny called it right- a controlled first half and a sloppy second half.

     

     

    I thought Stuart Armstrong was our best player and big Dedrick made two great last ditch tackles in the 2nd half. Credit to Jackson Irvine and Marcus Fraser who both did well against us.

     

     

    I don’t have to praise every one’s favourite scapegoat but I will make a few observations.

     

     

    At James first touch of the ball today he brought a high ball down under control and passed the ball on. As the ball was reaching him (this was within the first 90 seconds) the shout went up- “Do something- you!”

     

     

    Seconds before the first goal, Stuart Armstrong played a ball through to James who was speeding through. He failed to contact by inches- no other Celtic player would have got near Stuart’s slightly overhit pass but the cry went up “FFS Forrest!”

     

     

    Later in the half racing through on a long pass out of defence he just fails to reach a ball which Scott Fox collects at the extreme edge of the area, James takes a clattering as it was too late to evade the goalie when he failed to reach it. The cry goes up – “You’re a crapbag, Forrest!”

     

     

    People see what they want to see. As I posted midweek (and apologies to the poster who fell for it) people are prepared to believe JF is having a bad game, even when he is not playing.

    Contact or no contact when CG comes rushing out of the box (not for the first time, red before) like that you make it very easy for the MIB to make a honest mistake.

    Good to start off with a reasonably solid win. Good performances from Virgil, Gordon, GMS, Tierney and the Griff (until he went off). Rusty performances from just about everyone else. Subs: KC is still miles above the rest of the squad with his reading of the game and understanding space and movement. Great to have him back. Janko looked solid and Scepovic has some nice movement but doesn’t seem to be on the same wavelength as his teammates. Had great shot at one point.

     

    It seemed that the wayward passing was contagious and it affected quite a few players.

     

    Next Baku. It would be a good time for Ciftci to open his account although I think that if we score it’ll be Virgil, Boyata or Lustig from a set piece or a KC rocket.

    Kevin, GMS poor?. I must have been watching a different match, I had him and Virgil as MOM candidates. One trackback and winning back the ball in a dangerous area was something special. I agree with you about James, he was very poor. I am a big defender of James but not today.

    Despite comments from a couple of other posters to the contrary, IMO, we were a mhan down with James today. Very, very poor.

     

    It is all about opinions though.

    As for forrest,move him on,first game of the season and still disinterested,laddies attitude got me beat,because in my opinion he has the ability.

    Good 3 points today, the team will improve. The older I get,the more I realise it’s pointless getting angry at stray passes,lack of good judgement on the park etcetera…We get annoyed because we love our team,our club and that’s just life. Someone posted yesterday that Broody played a blinder on Wednesday, I thought it was one of the worst games he’s had in a Celiac jersey but I love him and his desire to do well for the team so I’ll not criticise for the sake of it.

     

    Looking forward to midweek and getting a result.
