  1. Bloody Hell. Went to bed Happy last night & wake up to more trouble in the camp.

Nobody knows what promises were made by whom and to whom ,

Players are paid extremely well & contracts should be respected.

The reality now is that players have all the power, if they don’t get what they want they can sulk & down tools.

We will hear their heads aren’t in the right place but the monthly cheque that us mere supporters can only dream about still pops into their account every month.

Hard to know what should happen now, sell & take the cash or call his bluff like we did with Boyata.

Rodgers may well have told Moussa he could go after 2 years but I wouldn’t have expected him to have to caveat that with if we have an adequate replacement.

Who has the long term ambitions of the club at heart?

    Dembele? Rodgers or Lawwell?

Who wants Celtic to succeed and who has the correct strategy? Who wants more money and is only ambitious for their own success?

It woud be great to see Lawwell and Rodgers get together and agree a way forward.

Always a pleasure to see your moniker on here, old bean

    Hope yer swell.

  4. So Moussa has spat the dummy oot! I’m disappointed at that. However he feels, he should ?.

The reality is that he has signed a 4 year deal – his word; he and his agent have repeatedly stated they would honour that contract – his word. That’s the bottom line.

We pay his wages so he should respect that. The same with Boyata. To be fair, Boyata has turned in 2 flawless performances in the last 2 games. Moussa should reflect on that and turn up to skelp the huns on Sunday.

  5. Amid all the flim-flam over Dembele, a quick word for Boyata and to keep it simple, we are better with him in the team than out of it. He bossed the defence last night and Ajer looks well relaxed alongside him.

I felt the mood around Celtic change last night, and a lot of guys who sit near me agreed. Brendan’s radio chat about Moussa, the performance on the field, OK three goals helped, but everybody went into the ground feeling a little unsure of things and everybody left it looking forward to Sunday. And that’s still the case today despite Moussa’s apparent hissy fit.

  6. Dembele will probably go today, Celtic will still be the club that we support. We’ve lost better players than him over the years and been successful. Let’s hope for a player who can score goals but more importantly, one who’s not on the treatment table so often. Hail Hail

  7. I watched Moussa closely last week against Hamilton.

He was one of those who booed Boyata at every touch.

The above may or may not be true.

Sometimes people just make up stuff and post it on here as fact.

  8. I think it’s clear that Dembele’s issue is more likely to be with BR than PR. It might be petulant but he’s not wrong, if that’s the promise made when signed then that’s the promise that should have been kept, otherwise we not only have a bunch of unhappy players on board but struggle to attract the next Dembele to the SPL.

He wouldn’t be kicking up a stink if the offer that came in wasn’t of a value that the player and the club recognised as ‘enough’.

If we don’t have a replacement lined up then the blame lies firmly at BR’s door. As far as we know the manager has the management over signing targets, if he doesn’t we should be told about it but there’s no director of football in place.

BR should have been prepared for Dembele leaving even if it was the last day of the window (which isn’t unusual).

  9. Good Morning Gents,

Great night last night and the hang over in the shape of an unhappy Moussa.

Very sad to read his tweets a frustrated young man by the sounds.

I think this is again the symptom of the battle of the egos between Peter and Brendan. On one hand it looks to me like Brendan has got Moussa up here on the pretence that it will be two years and then you get your big move and by the looks with no one in place to replace the third striker or calibre this has changed. Brendan wants to keep his players and bring in new players (already has 17 new ones in), Peter will want to sell them while there price tag is high and they are injury prone so that makes sense.

Brendan has told Peter he doesn’t want to sell and Peter has said the price is right, Brendan has now went public to create some more weight to his argument (all the crap last week) but never really taking into consideration the players feelings, they are not items they are people, so now we have the fall out today of two stubborn men digging their heels in, we have all been guessing why there are no signings and who is making signings, Today Moussa has given us a glimpse. The signing policy is deeply flawed if we don’t replace with players of equal calibre. No one looks good in this and complacency and lack of communication seems rife at the club just now. Enclaves have been created and you can see it effecting the team on the field.

  11. It’s time this was sorted out . Sad but if moussa wants a move ,then let him go ,but the suits and Brendan surely knew he was going and a replacement should have been sought , very same with boyata . My thoughts are ,that Brendan Rodgers took the job on ,he should have taken the job on with the understanding that HE was in sole charge of team matters . He should have ordered our worldwide team of scouts to search for replacements for those wanting to move on . Once identified, then bring lawwell into the financial side of things , that should be his remit , concluding the deals . What has happened here with our transfer policy is an outrite scandal . I will be surprised if BR stays after this season , but if truth be told we handle all transfer Windows the same way, shambolic . We as a club had years of advantage over them across the city , they should never have been allowed anywhere near our slipstream ,but they are there , make no mistake about that , however deep we put our heads in the sand . Where they got the finance to spend as freely as they are doing ,is one for the people on here who walk in financial circles , but it is someone with VERY deep pockets . one poster made a statement earlier on his thoughts where finance was coming from . Can’t see it myself , but if correct ,then we truly have been stitched up .

I only hope and pray that we get this fixed and soon , get the required players in today , pay the rate for the quality we so badly need in certain positions . Back Brendan , support PL ,and well for Dermot Desmond , I still think he is of no help to our club .

  12. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    TommyB – bang on.

Moussa is a great player but, in my lifetime, we’ve lost Hay, Connelly, Dalglish and Larsson and survived.

    All better players than MD.

15 hours to go before this foolishness ends.

    Personally – can’t wait.

    Hail hail

  13. Would look to move dembele and boyata on now, eddie is already here and the centreback on loan looks a done deal.

Beings in most money now and gives us 6 months to identify and secure a long term replacement centreback, rightback and forward.

    Keeping unhappy players is stupid

  14. Silver City 1888 on

Maybe we are expecting Lyon to give up a prospect to get Moussa. Their scouts can’t be worse than ours.

  15. the glorious balance sheet on

We could learn a lot from Lyon.

They had a star striker they knew was likely to command interest from bigger clubs but had identified ready made replacements in the event he was sold.

Sure enough Real Madrid made their move and signed the player for over £30m.

Lyon, even before this deal completed, entered into negotiations with Celtic over Dembele but had a plan B – Pedro from Fuminese – identified should the Dembele deal fall through.

Sure enough when the deal was stalling they then moved onto Pedro.

Although I don’t care much for how Lyon have done a lot of this publicly, announcements on their twitter page and regular updates for the French press.

But surely there’s nothing to stop us from having Plan a , plan b such as Lyon have, or even coming to an agreement with a club for a new striker which is contingent on Dembele being sold.

A deal that is largely complete and can be finalised in jig time should circumstances such as a late bid for Dembele come in.

We just don’t seem organised. We try and bid for players such as McKenna, get told naw, then don’t seem to have an alternative we can immediately move onto.

  16. mullet and co 2 on

Dembele has now liked a tweet saying Rodgers told Dembele Brighton was a better club than Celtic and told him to join them in January. Also told him to join West Brom!

  17. Two days ago when the news broke about Moussa leaving I said in a debate with ITALIABHOY that Odsonne was his replacement so it’s fair enough he goes. Brendan says otherwise so I’m happy to admit I got that wrong.

  18. A classic Talent Management issue.

Celtic do not have a Talent Manager and as such no one person is taking ownership and it has now manifested itself in at least two valuable members of staff wanting to leave under their terms.

  19. THE GLORIOUS BALANCE SHEET on31ST AUGUST 2018 9:30 AM

Completely agree. But just as worrying is the likes of McKenna being plan A. Apart from the fact he’s not good enough all our targets have been UK based. Waste of money having a network.

  20. Moussa has to go today.Much as it breaks my heart. We cant promise these guys that if they sign, and stay at least 2 years,if an offer comes in from one of the bigger leagues,we will honour their wishes, then decide not too.We have to be careful here. These guys sign for us,underthat premise,if we start to be seen as not reliable, some could think,no way.

Has Brendan not learned from the Boyata episode.

Our scouting is abysmal, and anyone under the impression that all PL cares about is money should take a reality check.Boyata and Moussa would bring in 32 million. He has left it to the manager, who at the moment seems to have a brain freeze.Get it sorted, and get Benkovic in.More important .

  21. the glorious balance sheet on

Dembele tweets on 20th May: “this club is special, the fans are special”.

Time for him to start acting like he meant those words.

Logging out of twitter and actually putting his football boots on would be a good start.

  22.  France Football say Moussa met the Celtic board yesterday to plead his case

They say Lyon’s best offer so far is €20m. Bombshell – apparently he said Brendan told him Celtic wasn’t big enough for him – and asked him to accept offers from Brighton and West Brom last winter, and from China in June.

He’s blaming Rodgers for blocking the move, not Lawwell.

TRANSFERS Transfers: Moussa Dembélé wants to bend Celtic

Deciding to go to Lyon, the French striker very disappointed by the attitude of his coach Brendan Rodgers, has pleaded his case in front of the Celtic board in recent hours. The tone goes up as time presses.

This is a message posted on his Twitter account, in the night from Thursday to Friday, which reflects his state of mind. At 22, Moussa Dembélé is determined to join Lyon, which has made three offers (16, +4 M €, 18 and 20 million farm) to recruit. And does not understand the opposition of a man: his coach Brendan Rodgers. ” A man without a word is nothing ” can we read in particular.

And does not understand the opposition of a man: his coach Brendan Rodgers. ” A man without a word is nothing ” can we read in particular.

The young French striker spoke with his coach two days ago and told him of his decision to leave Celtic after two seasons in Scotland. In the spirit of the former Parisian, Rodgers, who had told him a few months earlier of his desire to facilitate his departure for “services rendered”, would respond favorably. To the great surprise of the person concerned, this was not the case. Rodgers then arguing the need to find a replacement.

In recent hours, this quest was futile despite the proposals. And the tension is rising. Dembélé appeared before the board (meeting leaders) Thursday, to expose his situation and to share his misunderstanding. With several arguments in essence:

    1. How can the coach block me when he pushed me to accept an offer of Brighton and West Bromwich last winter or China last June?

    2. Is the argument of needing to find a replacement weighing two years ago – the best recent season for Celtic – the rotation was very low in front of?

    3. How can Rodgers block me as he indicated in front of me in his office, a few weeks earlier, that Celtic does not”? “A meeting that translated the will of the player to join the OL but also his incomprehension against what he perceives privately as” selfishness “of his coach.

While the cloakroom of Celtic Glasgow is already weakened by the Boyata file (refusal to let the Belgian also leave), what can be the continuation of this soap opera? Dembélé is expected in training this Friday morning. He is determined to meet his coach to once again make his choice. The next few hours may be hot. The former Parisian, convinced of the opportunity to get back to France, knows it: he has only a few hours to convince.

    On the Europa league-

Dinamo Kiev or Anderlecht would do me from pot 1, malmo from pot 3 and dudelange or sarpsborg from pot4. Feck glamour, it’s all about progress to the last 16, especially if we need a belter of a January transfer window to recover ground lost this summer. We need the carrot of post Christmas European football to offer signing targets (cough)

Would very much enjoy the Zombies getting arsenal or besiktas from pot 1, Marseille pot 2 and either Zagreb or betis from pot 3.

  25. On last nights game,I would think thats the best performance so far this season.Without Moussa,Edouard,Forrest,Rogic,we were terrific. Our closing down was great.Poor Sudova could not get a breath.Ran ragged. The difference in the pace to the Hamilton game was glaring.

Broony, imperious,Sinky very good, looked hungry.Boyatta, great calming effect. The rest worked their socks off. Some last night saying Miks passing was poor.I saw on interception, apart from that,I thought his passing to the men in front was a joy to watch.Linked up very well.Mikey getting better every game.Griff getting sharper.

  26. Dembele can go after we’ve got his replacement. Dembele has to understand that, a last minute bid from Lyon leaves us no time. The club comes first. As for Sutton, he’s an absolute arse. Two days ago he was tweeting that of Celtic didn’t want to sell they shouldn’t and now he’s laying into BR for doing just that. I’ve no time for Sutton, an absolute wind bag.

  27. Joe Filippis Haircut on

Good Morning Bhoys a good result last night spoiled for me by the Boyata and Dembele situations if there have been offers for these two players for decent money we should let them go keeping unhappy players is stupid and no good for the player or the team. If Dembele is correct and Brendan told him Brighton were better than Celtic and that he should sign for West Brom However Brendan has gone down in my estimation big time.I realise there are two sides to every story and I would like to hear Brendans take on Dembeles tweets. However, can any of you imagine Dembele pulling on a Celtic shirt and giving us 100% again ? Celtic certainly know how to make a cock up big time. H.H.

  28. I’m confident Dembele will get on with it. He can go in Jan. same with Boyata- he’s getting on with it now. At end of the day they only harm their future career prospects with shite performances.

  29. TURKEYBHOY

And an impressive cameo from Ryan Chrstie. The best Ive seen from him in the Hoops.

  30. Late last night he took to social media website Twitter and posted: “A man without his word is nothing. A real man keeps his word.”

So says a man two years after agreeing a four year contract.

If he does go then the deal has to be right for both parties.Wondering if anyone knows the most consecutive games he’s played in 2 years .Celtic have never really got to the bottom of his injury problems so maybe 20 million banked would be a good solution for all.
