I have been a Griff fan since his Dundee days, he gets slagged at Wolves by some but am sure he had a good goals per minutes on the park with them, I love the gallus bit in him the matter how bad a miss the wee man gets up and goes again
Jmccormick dissing the golf then cricket updates … Each to their own :-) I hate playing golf but love the last day of all the majors
An interesting insight into the life of Bob Hilliard who many will know from the Christy Moore ballad.
“Viva la Quinca Brigada”, where tribute is paid to the memory of those who fought in defence of the democratically elected Spanish Government between 1937 and 1939. A conflict, which is popularly known as the “Spanish Civil War”.
These lines particularly intrigue Kerry people,
“Bob Hilliard was Church of Ireland pastor;
From Killarney cross the Pyrenees he came.”
I didn’t know for example that he boxed for Ireland at the 1924 Paris Olympics. An interesting life…
Seems like Englans have been watching too much of him as well, three down and none of them from Shah. Will the weather save England? Although if Pakistan get too aggressive then England can get that total.

Dembele is still finding his feet. Watched him yesterday on the left trying to feed off Tierney then then on the right with Roberts, shows he’s hungry though eventually, like Griff he will find who the best chef is, for him.

GFTB/Cultsbhoy,
Two things come to mind about Leigh.
I remember Ronny Deila saying before Leigh was in the first team that he called him at the last minute and asked Leigh if he would play for the Development Team in a game at Newcastle that evening. Leigh drove straight to Newcastle no questions asked,
When Brendan Rodgers was unveiled to the support at Celtic Park recently. Leigh was there. He was interviewed on Celtic Tv. The season was over. I remember him saying he was going on holiday the next day and had decided to come to the stadium.
A coincidence maybe but I don’t think so.

Wahab Riaz used to play for my son’s team here in North staffs for a couple of seasons. Had him round for Sunday lunch a few times – lovely guy off the pitch.
Indeed, each to their own I got into cricket years ago and although I prefer the classic 5 day test, the one day game can be entertaining too. Too much downtime in golf for me to get into it.
CultsBhoy - likes Brendan Rodgers level of ambition- well done DD on
BR will need to show his hand as it is clearly a ‘must win’… As much as that should be ( and likely will be) a formality there is no room for error.
So no shop window starters but the guys who BR has most faith in will start.
Starting 11 will be quite informative for the rest of us…
I started playing cricket when my son’s sunday side was a player short – I was 40 at the time and played for about 10 years at 2nd team level – thoroughly enjoyed it. Took up umpiring a few years ago but gave it up – too much hassle nowadays. Still like watching the game though.

I think (& hope) Leigh has put the off the field stuff behind him, I think he does just want to play football and the story about the development squad would not surprise me, Leigh is probably still tempted to play 5s or 7s with his mates, if he stays with us for a good number of years he could score barrow loads and break some records (although I also thought that about Hooper & Stokes)
Jmccormick only having a laugh about the cricket, the one day stuff can be quite good but unlike others I don’t have the patience for it, always will be snobby rounders to me :-)

It’s the three-pronged attack Rodgers use dat Liverpool, with griff deployed in the Suarez role.
simply – cutting in a diagonal from the halfway line wing towards the centre of the box as we attack. By the time he hits the box alongside the central striker (Dembele), our other frontman (Roberts) is arriving from the opposite wing, giving overwhelmed defenders a nightmare.
at least that’s how it’s meant to work… If ye’ve got Suarez, etc…

Robert Tressell @ 10:19. My main concern is still midfield with Brown /Biton. Across the park fitba and don’t get the ball out of their feet quick enough. This was proved many times last season esp against Sevco. They have very much strengthened that department over the summer.
That’s it bud.Nail hit firmly on the head. Two definite massive problems.
Get those two out and I reckon we would go a long way to solving our midfield issues.
I am not a fan of the Sky football “experts”. However Hussain and Atherton are, in my eyes, great at explaining the technical issues on shot playing and tactics for Sky’s cricket team.
I am not an authority on the techniques and they do a great job for a part time fan like me.

I was impressed by Citci yesterday. I think he will be good backup to Dembele on Wednesday.
Cifti! Not for me, does ieverything right till he aims at goal then it all goes horribly wrong.
