Celtic’s Fedur ready for Champions League challenge

750

If ever you needed a reason to convince you to ignore the vast majority of transfer speculation which inflicts football fans from May until 30 August, the signing of Miku Fedor is a gift.  Spanish football is suffering from the kind of economic wake-up call which makes it possible for aspirational Scottish clubs (I know there’s only one) to sign strikers first choice strikers.  Miku came through the scouting process last season and remained on the list but the deal had to be right.

25 goals in 85 games for a struggling team in the top league in the world (Exhibit A: Atletico) suggests we might have someone who will flourish on an acre of Glasgow and will bring experience and confidence onto the field when he faced Barcelona, Benfica and Spartak Moscow.  The deal has the hallmarks of Peter Lawwell’s try-before-you-buy policy.  Get them in on a loan with an option to buy.  If they are successful, do the deal, if not, you’re not stuck with Ulrik Laursen breezing into training asking the other players how they got on at the weekend.

Right now the most important question is, what shape of team does Neil Lennon have in mind?  Miku plays through the middle and on the right.  He’s fast and he’s 6’1”.  Have we bought a someone to play on the right of a front three?  Perhaps, but with circa 15 first-choice midfield players to accommodate the plan is surely more complex.

More on this when we have a quieter moment, I’m off to bed to forget all apache command line prompts until January.  We’ll talk goalkeepers over the weekend.

Thought with your mum and your family. At least in hospital she is in good hands and will be under observation.

  2. “Miku was back up to get Johnny Russell!”

The voice came from the dark depths of the an as we sped towards Paisley and a date with Screwfix.”Who telt you that” I mumbled already in a thoroughly black burning depression now that my planned Rhesus Carlingus had been scuppered.

“My usual impeccable source. It seems that he arrived as expect

ed at 21.30 with everything tied up except personal terms. He then left at 22.45 with an enhanced understanding of just how tight the lid was on the abernethy biscuit tin stashed behind the statue of Our Lady of the Poor. PL wouldnae budge and the ‘Miku sanction’ was triggered. Believe me. When have I or my source been wrong before?”

I flicked the switch in the dashboard and the engines went into a 747 reverse, our breakfasts re-emerging into the sudden g-force induced vacuum.

Eggs, bacon, porridge and the occasional avocado from ‘Pete The Diet’ flying in the vortex of our builders van wasn’t an unusual occurrence; so my hood was up as I returned the waves from the ghostly pallored occupants of the other screeching swerving cars on the fast lane of the M8.

“What the **** are you bletherin’ on about? You have never once got anything even remotely right. From your first day at school on your 10th birthday to your last on your eleventh, the sum total of your contribution to the world’s knowledge base has matched the ozone destroying contribution of a fleas fart.”

    ” Look here….the proof….”

I looked. I was astonished. If that was right, then so was he and for the sake of a few hundred quid we had lost out on Johnny Russell. This was dynamite.

The blue flashing lights and siren behind me suggested that I better get the van out of the way sharpish.

    Too late.

“look it must have been mechanical serge! Whit eejit would stop in the outside lane? Do I look daft. Drinking?…..have I been drinking?…..don’t you fricken start…….”

I’ll get back to you shortly as soon as they have finished with the charge sheet…..and as for Templeton….as you know his full name is David Cooper Templeton – guess who he was named after.

The clue is in the name.

  3. I thought the fourth tier mob were looking to add 5-6 players, surprise surprise they are actually down in numbers.

Pathetic decision from Tempelton, looks like career suicide going there. I’m feeling for his Granda this morning who’ll not be too chuffed, he wasn’t impressed he was at Hearts. Before the cup final last year I had a chat with him to see what he thought, he hoped he’d get man of the match but would have preferred Hibs to win! (ended up not playing)

    Hope young Tony starts today.

  4. My team for today:

    Forster

    Matthews Rogne Wilson Izaguirre

    Forrest McCourt Wanyama Mulgrew

    Watt

Lustig to replace Matthews second half.

Why would you be boasting you spent more money on players when your old club has just ripped off over a 100m?

    That’s the difference.

Never hrd of the new guy. Hope it wisnae the guy that brot in Bangurra cos I think he knows sweet fanny Adams abt football!!

Apoligies to all the Adams’s out there no offence meant.

Best wishes to your Mum mate – hope she makes a speedy recovery.

  9. Since the ConDems are shortly going to force neets (no education, employment, education, skills ) to work for their j.s.a. there will be a plethora of youngsters for tfplg to sign up by the bucketload and train to play the hun way. Pity he didn’t demand that Ballantyne hand him Tony Watt so he could wreck another young player’s career.

I mean, what is Templeton thinking? Not a lot, judging by his actions. Some of the players who have left Hun Central faster than scalded cats with rockets attached are nowhere near as talented as him. One day he scores against L/pool…..the next he sinks his career without trace…..what did tfplg whisper in his ear? Musta been on a par with the worst from Grima Wormtongue, cause there he goes, lookin’ all glaikit as he sleepwalks into Mordor to professionally wither.

Huns. Just how stupid can they get?

  10. I don’t think Benfica did replace Javi Garcia but they do have other players we should worry about.

Óscar Cardozo,Pablo Aimar,Nicolás Gaitán and Axel Witsel.

Still fancy us at Celtic Park :)

  11. A quick thought about the alleged sfa computer crash. The reason they need a computer is to recieve emails from the Huns. Even if the computer crashes the email will still be on the isp computer with a date and time stamped on it. Usual cheating and not very clever at it.

Looking at it for wee trip next year with Mrs MM. Try Opodo or Skyscanner, found overnighter, via Schippol for £195 each return. You need a visa, proof of hotel & copy of bank account(for visa). Put in any Moscow airport, can’t mind there names, but the smaller of the 2 is cheapest option.

Thoughts and prayers with ur mum

Is templeton signed? Where is the ambition signing for that mob off a club, no way he is a Celtic fan if he has, what true fan could ever look themselves in the mirror after their career is over known he can’t ever go back to watch the hoops cause he signed for the x-Huns I include Kyle in this too, although a don’t particularly rate McGowan he shows his true colours by walking away, although don’t know why he turned up in the first place

Did Benfica bring in anybody to replace their top scorer?

Think I read somewhere that they brought in Ozil from Real Madrid.

If they’ve brought in Ozil they’ve got a bloody good player! Not heard anything about this as I scribe!

  16. Delighted with the new signings………………………….

  20. setting free the bears – I just went with the players I knew ha!

I think we will think 3rd place as a minimum,I don’t fancy Spartak much after watching them play the other week. What you think?

  21. Ozil has NOT joined Benfica!

Somebody was at the wind-up yesterday!

    You naughty bhoy!

    HH!!

  22. Still only on page 4 of the comments here but why on earth are people whining about not signing young Russell. He is too similar to players we already have in Hooper and Stokes imo.

Even if its only sell on value we want from him then he will have to be proved and developed to realise a profit.

We already have an even better prospect to develop and prove and his name is Tony Watt and isn’t gonna come with a $2M price tag. Signing Johnny Russel would be unwise I reckon.

Now we have two (assuming Miku settles) big direct strikers in Miku and Watt and two wee poachy strikers in Hooper and Stokesy!

Another striker coming along too which is rumored to be Michael Owen, he would give experience to our young team and perhaps raise the bar for young Hooper, plus hes another TIM in the family!

Sounds like a great plan to me.

A big stopper in Efe which is exactly what I hoped for for our back line..

Our team is taking shape, we don’t need to ruin the chemistry with a whole slew of signings ffs…

  23. Cheers MM

Seems the visa is the main issue…..Semple defo not doing trip, big Harry will know Monday but think its unlikely.
