Central def, Dempster, don’t mention the EBT

287

I could make the case that Kilmarnock were better against Celtic on Sunday than Hearts were, when the latter won 4-0 at Tynecastle last year. At Rugby Park, Celtic failed to retain possession to anything like an adequate level. The nuances of the pitch were known in advance, I don’t buy it as an excuse.

Players seemed over-anxious to get rid of the ball, most often by sending it forward to players who didn’t have the space necessary to retain possession. A large part of our conventional system relies on passing and movement from central defence. The early loss of Boyata, then Ajer, did Celtic more damage than the pitch.

You know that ominous feeling you get when media and many in the game are uniting behind a candidate for a top job, before the job is even advertised? Leeann Dempster might be the best administrator in Hibs’ and Motherwell’s recent history, but that is modest claim to fame. The job of CEO at the SFA should go through a conventional recruitment process.

As for BBC news this morning that the SFA are considering Walter Smith* as national team manager, a man who walked out on his contract halfway through a qualifying campaign for a club job! This tells you all you need to know about football in Scotland.

*and I didn’t even mention his EBT, because no one ever mentions “Walter’s” EBT, that would just embarrass the man.  It must be like a sketch of Monty Python whenever he walks into a room of journalists.  Would love to know what it was for……

  9. GALLAGHER @ 3:11 PM,

Thanks, it’s a huge bugbear of mine and I know many others, that every time there’s a chance to move Scottish Football Forward, there is a concerted campaign from vested interests to keep us in the dark ages…

Happy Birthday Big Packy, sounds like you had a blast…

In the light of those putting forward all and sundry regarding keeping the SFA’s status quo. Andrew Dickson was mentioned.

I remember reading this, it’s an excerpt from the SFA Tribunal after Rangers went into administration, NOT the LNS Commission.

You know the one where Ally wanted to know, who are these people..?

Auldheid I’m sure has read it, but it’s worth looking at it again me thinks…

    DETERMINATION: DISCIPLINARY TRIBUNAL

THE RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB plc and MR CRAIG WHYTE…

    …Findings in Fact

The Tribunal , having heard evidence and submissions of the Parties, made the following findings in fact:

    1. That The Rangers Football Club plc (“Rangers FC”) is a public limited

company and is a full member of the Scottish Football Association

    (“the Scottish FA”.)…

…13. That for some years commencing prior to 6 May 2011 Mr Andrew Dickson C.A. has been the Head of Football Administration of Rangers FC. His duties prior to 6 May 2011 included preparation of players contracts with players and their agents. His duties included representing Rangers FC and the Glasgow Football Association on

various committees within the sport. His duties included all administrative responsibilities, and in particular he dealt with all

football registration requirements and documentation which required

lodging with the Scottish FA, the Scottish Premier League, UEFA and elsewhere. The role included preparation of the Official Return

detailing the identities and personal details of all directors and

officers of Rangers FC which required to be lodged with the Scottish

FA each year prior to the new playing season and any amendment

form which might become necessary on account of board or

management changes occurring during the playing season.

Mr Dickson had carried out this role continuously and competently for many year and is highly experienced and knowledgeable about club, player, official, and ground registration and licensing matters. The appointment of any new director to the Board of Rangers FC was an appointment which required registration procedures to be completed and fell squarely within Mr Dickson’s experience and remit. Such an appointment required to be intimated by the completion and lodging of an amendment form relative to the Rangers FC Official Return, specifying the appointment and lodging the director’s details with the Scottish FA. The amendment form requires the director involved personally to sign a declaration, having regard to Article 10 of the Articles of Association of the Scottish FA, in relation to disclosure of any matter (emphasis added) which should be brought to the attention of the Scottish FA in order to allow it to satisfy itself that the director is a fit and proper person to be appointed to the position within the game. Rangers FC through its Secretary is required to sign and “confirm that the information supplied above is complete, true

and accurate and that Articles 10, 13, 14 and 15 have been complied

    with” (sic)

Now point 1. Is interesting, unlike the LNS Commission a year later, the SFA Tribunal had no problem with Clubs, Parent Companies and Owner Operators etc. It states quite clearly that Rangers Football Club plc is Rangers FC and is a full member of the SFA.

Point 13. Andrew Dickson, now although this relates to Mr Dickson’s responsibilities re: Craig Whyte’s Directorship of Rangers FC and his fit and proper status. It layouts in some detail Mr Dickson’s roles and responsibilities.

When it comes to the Res12 issue, it was he who was overall responsible for the Rangers return, the licence application and indeed, the Players registrations, presumably since he took over from Campbell Ogilvie.

Surely like Campbell, Mr Dickson must be heavily conflicted vis~a~vis the SFA’s Compliance Officer’s investigation into the 2011/12 Licence. Andrew Dickson is a member of the SFA Congress.

    Hail Hail

That game summed up what is wrong with our refs and their pandering to that mob, so obvious in that season.
