Champions!

1808

Congratulations to Ronny Deila, his players and supporting cast on becoming Scottish champions, season 2014-15.  The man from Norway has got his team playing flowing, attractive, football, he has improved players throughout the squad, and should be delighted with the shape of the club at the moment.

Congratulations too to the Celtic fans, who recognised the manager and team needed their support, which has been delivered solidly throughout the campaign.

I’m delighted for Aberdeen, who have matched Celtic toe-to-toe against the rest of the league.  It has been a stunning season for a team with comparatively meagre resources.  Motherwell were best of the rest for the last two seasons, but they were miles off the pace, and never reached the consistency of Aberdeen this season.

It’s four in a row for the third time in our history, matching Willie Maley’s team’s achievement in 1908 and Jock’s in 1969.

These are great times to be a Celtic fan, enjoy being champions!

  1. H/T,

Fine today. My recovery began properly at Parkhead last night. Great night of great football played the Celtic Way. I hope our manager is here for a long long time. We can look forward to being entertained.

Please thank your children for their prayers. Much appreciated.

Deila’s delight as Celtic clinch title

Celtic have been crowned champions of Scotland for the 46th time after Aberdeen’s loss to Dundee United gave them an unassailable lead at the top of the table.

Celtic opened up an 11-point lead with three games remaining when they thrashed Dundee 5-0 on Friday night meaning the Dons had to defeat Dundee United to set up a title showdown at Pittodrie next Sunday. However, Aberdeen failed to recover after going behind to Robbie Muirhead’s 13th minute goal as Dundee United secured a 1-0 victory to hand the title to Celtic.

It’s a fourth successive league championship for the Glasgow giants to go with the League Cup they won earlier in the season. It caps a successful first season in charge for Ronny Deila, who took over from former boss Neil Lennon last summer.

I’m happy with a lot of the work we have done and we are going to enjoy this night and show we are champions next Sunday.

The Norwegian endured a stuttering start to life in the Celtic Park dugout as Celtic picked up just six wins from their opening 14 competitive matches. The Scottish Champions stumbled out of the UEFA Champions League in qualifying and suffered defeats to Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Hamilton, Dundee United and St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership.

However, a run of 15 wins from 17 league games in 2015 has seen Celtic wrap up the title with three games to spare, although Deila’s side don’t have a chance to claim a treble after Inverness Caledonian Thistle defeated them in their Scottish Cup semi-final clash. The Celtic boss heard the news of his side’s league triumph while back on a short visit to his native Norway following his side’s Friday night victory over Dundee and he says he is already planning for next season.

“We have achieved a big thing – winning the league for the fourth time – and hopefully there will be more and more,” Deila told the official Celtic website. “Defensively we have been unbelievable the whole season and we have hardly conceded a goal. Offensively we have been getting better and we scored five beautiful goals against Dundee on Friday night.

“We have worked so hard for this and finally we are there and can start thinking of next season. There is always high pressure here and I put high demands on myself as well. Today we just have to enjoy it and be happy that we are champions. I’m happy with a lot of the work we have done and we are going to enjoy this night and show we are champions next Sunday.”

Sorry for the cryptic John Collins comment.

John Collins gave his reaction to Celtic’s title win and answered a Sky question with ‘ We need Rangers back ‘

Manna from heaven, for a very large percentage of the Celtic support.

Sitting quaffing my Pott 54% rum whilst surfing CQN and occasionally paying attention to Manure getting beat by Mrs PMTYH’s team,The Baggies. Looking a bit like the Alamo for WBA at times but I’m hoping the Duke manages to survive that Mexican chib this time.

I seldom post on this great site, but I heartily congratulate the mighty Glasgow Celtic on another title. Come on ye boys in green!!!

Great day, fellow Tims. Champions in style.

Congratulations Ronny John and John, and to Tims everywhere tonight.

Very very happy in Oslo tonight.

Love that pic of Ronny and his two ghirls in their Bunads. The man is properly grounded – Norway teaches its sons and daughters that humility is a default position, that family is everything, that ostentatiousness is crass.

I would bet, having been to a few formal family functions in Norway, that there would have been an announcement and a toast and a cheer for Ronny and Celtic, then everybody would get back to the Ghirls’ confirmation.

We have got a real gem here with this mhan. He is a winner but, unlike the likes of Mourinho for example, not at any price.

Totally excited at what is beginning to take shape at Paradise.

However, not being Norwegian, I am off to get ripped off my bazoomas and sing a load of songs that would probably get me arrested in Scotland.

HELLO HELLO FOUR IN A ROW, FOUR IN A ROW

    XXXXXXX

  8. BSR, disappointed by JC, not surprised though.

Oh yeah, we need Rangers back!

We haven’t had any team trying to cheat their way to trophies, I miss that, I really do.

    What is Collins thinking about?

Do the club not listen at all?

Do the people in positions of power not wonder if the cheats will just go back to cheating.

    It’s in their culture.

    Enjoy tonight.

Off out to savour the championees win in Barca.

  10. Hmmmm not a bad weekend so far….

Celtic win 5-0 and I had a cheeky couple of quid on LG and 5-0 at 33/1… thanks Ladbrokes :)

My Boys won 5-1 and 8-0 this morning (soccer sevens teams I coach)

Went to watch Livi who escaped relegation.

    Sunderland won, Barca won

oh and Celtic are champions and have won 4 in a row.

Now enjoying a nice wee Shiraz!

Congratulations to Ronnie, overall a very good season with lots of progress made. Looking foward to next season and another crack at the Champions League.

    Hail Hail and KTF!

  11. What a game Man U WBA, cringeworthy stuff watching Di Maria struggle to even pass a ball.

Ha – The question was loaded and of course, referred to the SPL.

John Collins gobbled it up and gave a very un CQN like answer. This question of why allegedly so called Pro’s see events somewhat differently is a puzzle to me, and my seat in Celtic Park.

What he should have said, has a gazillion connotations in relation to the events since 2012.

But he’s only an ex footballer assistant coach, and we can’t expect the correct answer, let alone a polite……….. no comment.

    Ah. I see. Cheers.

I think the more – longer – they’ve been gone, the more I’ve got used to it and the thought of the reincarnation getting to the same status as the originals certainly doesn’t excite. I now remember the worst more than anything else.

Maybe the only sanity is spoken on here as there is a horrendous amount of ignorance as to the truth out there.

  16. Man U lose 1 nil the WBA, 1 shot on target, dire dire game.

Sometimes wonder how much influence a manager has on teams, start of the season Man U were awful trying to shoehorn all those players into the starting line up. Then they all get injured or suspended and they start winning game after game, then lose 3 on the trot when all the superstars are all playing again.
