The mainstream media, football administrators, football club directors, former football club directors, together with the executives from PR companies, are in a new space this week.
Many of these people have spent over 20 years controlling all important aspects of the media in relations to football in Scotland. Some have established a culture of dependency and fear; at the left of the telephone, or the click of a mouse, they could destroy reputations.
Most of these types backed Craig Whyte when Sir David Murray endorsed him as the right sort to buy Rangers, a situation which remained in place until administrators were appointed last year. Since then they have acted in unison to demonise Whyte, who has been painted as the solely responsible for the downfall of the football club.
Now, thanks to the industrious Charlotte, every underhand conspiracy is in danger of becoming exposed.
Find yourself in the dock over sectarian chanting? Don’t dispute the fact, simply allude to links which didn’t actually exist between the son of a Celtic director and the head of an anti-racism unit. The fact that some think there is an apparent scandal in the son of a Celtic director having links to an anti-racism campaigner is a bizarre thought. There were no links, but why shouldn’t there be, it’s anti-racism were talking here, which football clubs really should have affinity with.
And Oldco Rangers printed this rubbish in a submission to Uefa! Good grief.
Stewart Regan finds himself with a position to defend. One of his responsibilities is to ensure clubs are licenced correctly for Uefa competitions. I am not too exercised with him coordinating a response to this issue with the club concerned, but his assertion that Rangers were legitimately licenced for season 2011-12, despite the Discounted Options Scheme, or Wee Tax Case, seems more than odd.
In order to gain a Uefa licence clubs must have paid all social taxes due by 31 December no later than 31 March. Rangers advisors, Grant Thornton UK LLP, called Rangers £2.8m liability, which was unpaid by 31 March 2011, a “potential liability”, which was subject to discussions between the club and HMRC.
In quite simple terms, a club can call any liability a potential liability, however, this particular liability was very real. If the SFA allow Uefa rules to be circumnavigated by such a self-certified dismissal they are failing their duty to the game.
Mr Regan, the fact of this matter is that the liability was real. What evidence did you see to convince you otherwise? What processes are in place to ensure that a rogue SFA executive cannot rubber stamp a licence when one should not be granted? Can a club simply say “We’re all right, this stuff is under discussion” to make the SFA look the other way?
SFA president, Campbell Ogilvie, was secretary and director of Rangers during the entire operation of the Discounted Options Scheme. He was on the SFA board with oversight duties for ensuring clubs meet Uefa licensing standards when the club were issued with their 2011-12 licence, and he is currently seeking re-election to his post.
If Rangers were denied their licence for 2011-12 Celtic would have been eligible
The chat from PR companies is perhaps the most alarming, for them, of course.
Right now there is a campaign underway to ignore Charlotte. Any journo who takes on such an influential group of interests might is facing down some of the most influential people in the media industry. Here’s a thought for you: I reckon only circa 10% of available material has been looked at. Charlotte is not going away and neither is wee Craigie.

“if we are going to continue losing out on signings to mediocre championship clubs”
Who have we continuously lost out on?
JJ
Re losing out on signings. Most decent players on the move attract attention from 4 or 5 Clubs and the media will add another 4 or 5. He can only sign for one so in theory 7 or 8 Clubs can be termed as “losing out”. Celtic are the same as every other Club in that regard. Of course we lose out on some deals so do all other top Clubs. Its not important, what is important is the deals we complete.

I asked earlier who were the ” owners” of the material released by Charlotte. No replies.

Fortunate for all that this agreement never saw the light of day, especially after the STV/Rangers Hijack of BBC/Daly http://www.scribd.com/doc/146953082/Rangers-and-STV-Memorandum-of-Understanding-Draft-16-January-2012 …
Am I missing something
Is this mickbhoy 1888 character not a Hun at the windup??

Totally agree. Who is it that tells us we’ve “missed out” or been “rejected” when a player we’re supposedly chasing signs for someone else?…….The MSM, that’s who.
Liars, cheats and Sevconians to a man. Most of players who “snub” Celtic have never even been in our sights but what the hell, an anti-Celtic story is an anti-Celtic story. If you can’t find one, then make one up!
Apparently not squire. Going on his posts I had him down as a Hun. However Tiny Tim who is beyond reproach vouched he was a Tim, if my memory serves me correctly I think he said he is an ex copper.

where in those does ANYONE from our club say we are interested in JR
Maybe Hooper is staying (and more to the point – if Stokes is going to sign a new deal), so Lenny reckons we could do without another smallish striker, hence the signing of Balde?

As our host is liable to say
Hmmmm…….

Three quoteless articles from the MSM, aye very good Michael…
That big bad Celtic ur just too crap fur an uber Tim like you..
There’s a pilgrimage on the go I hear for serially unhappy with the club Tims…

mickbhoy, as John Mcenroe might say, are you serious. You take the word of tabloids as gospel after all those years. Hunbelieveable.
If the DR said it then it must be true. ..
Corky
A green hun ?

I, too, am enjoying it but only for the possibilities it offers. Nothing concrete yet.My reason for asking about ownership is because that would make a difference as to whether or not the releases are ” legally untouchable”.
JJ
mickbhoy1888
That was not a meant as a dig sir(sorry if it seemed that way) but a genuine question, hope you are well.
Till tomorrow all
James McFadden. He has a couple of years left barring injuries and a pay to play deal or similar makes sense. His old man is a big tim. IMO we’d have taken JR if another Glasgow club were around to try and compete but as they are buried we can concentrate on our own academy. A centre forward and a centre half is all we need as long as we retain the best of last year. HH.
Oh Dear !!!
Just goes to show that the rags still have an audience.
That rabid response unit from the tribute act’s spinners are workin’ overtime…………

yeah I dont post much now but I still read most of the posts and yes he has previous…..like yourself I noticed him and keep an eye on what he posts, all crap like this unfortunately
Lenny knows a lot more then any of us. He knows if Hoops is likely to go, he knows what Academy players have a chance of promotion to first team squad. He also knows the areas we need strengthening in. Just cos a guy like Russell is a good player doesn’t mean we need him in our set up. In Lenny I trust.
So STV and rangers had a memorandum of understanding.
Gives me a cold feeling in the pit of my stomach how this whole country is geared to supporting them.
Independence? F*** right off!!
Was John McKay’s blue ties part of the agreement?
Corkcelt
Make no mistake .
Mikeybhoy is a Celtic diehard.
He follows the bhoys home and away.
He is also quite a charitable and kind individual who donated his cup final ticket to someone else who he felt was more needy.
I also think you are correct in stating that he is a retired Bobby.
He is a big fella ,I wouldn’t like a slap from him(:-)

Excellent day at Chicago Blues Festival on Saturday with 3Mick3 and Mrs 3Mick3 also in town. Chicago’s Blues merged into Glasgow’s Green and White along with a refreshment or two and a lost afternoon. CQN Chicago now on the map and it’s great to view this wonderful site from abroad for an honest update on things CFC.
HH one and all back home

From the end of WGS’s reign when CL Qualifiction was a must for Rangers with only one team qualifying it became rife.
————————————————————————————————————–
Getting three home games against Hearts and only one away was a joke. An obvious desparate measure cos they needed to win the league to get the CL money to survive.
**************
And more of the same is only at least a couple of seasons away . That’s why I cant understand our club not pushing for justice , they represent thousands of shareholders and tens of thousands of season ticket holders , guys and gals who spend freely following the hoops , these people have been cheated for as long as I have been following the hoops .and way before that . I have stated on here on many occasions that football in Scotland is dead , it has been rendered so by the people who were put in place to govern the sport . instead they ,to the detriment of ALL other teams in Scotland have protected and favoured one club , a club who , had the governors of our game followed and stuck by their rules would now be playing junior football if playing at all . We as followers of the game , as followers of our particular team .can only look forward to a couple of hun free years until it all starts up again . and we are left to listen and read of how they are back in their rightful place ,there goal at present is getting back into the SPL, after that its the big bucks of the champions league at all costs , without that all this will have been in vain . So gentlemen of the celtic plc , when we are looking up at them from second spot , think back to how we could have buried them , look back at how you could have represented the tens of thousands of fans who make up the greatest support in the world , the same tens of thousands who want them gone , the same tens of thousands of fans who in their hearts of hearts know whats coming in a couple of seasons .

Modern ex coppers are rubbish :i)
GGW @GLASGOWSGREENW 45m
If the 5 way agreement was for the good of the game & showed NO BIAS , surely the SFA would have released its content to the clubs & fans ?
We have been crying out for height in the box.
The bhoy balde gives us the opportunity to utilise the amount of crosses that are wasted.
I don’t know anymore than most on here about balde, im prepared to give the bhoy a chance.
As for mc fadden, go and get him on a pay as you play contract…as someone posted earlier.
Pay as you play deal for McFadden ….a fit McFadden would be an asset …..an unfit one won’t cost us anything
Re Russell ….I would have signed him …however if we are to keep Stokes,,Sammi ,Hooper and Watt …together with Commons and some youngsters …and sign Balde then we simply couldn’t accommodate his signing …
If Stokes and Hooper leave them Russell might be a missed opportunity ….
