Of all the players signed for Celtic by Ronny Deila, Nadir Ciftci was the strangest. He faced us for Dundee United after news leaked we were interested in him, so I paid close attention. After the game I was convinced he would not sign for Celtic, such was his languid performance.
More than any other Celtic manager, Ronny valued movement. Stefan Johansen was his architype player, always covering ground. Nadir was the exact opposite of this that evening for Dundee United.
Maybe Ronny thought he could build on Nadir’s touch and perform an engine and mind-set upgrade, whatever the reason behind this particular raid on United, the player was never going to cut it at Celtic.
He reminds me very much of Charlie Nicholas (although Nicholas had heaps more talent). Charlie was irrepressible in his first period at Celtic, but the game changed under Charlie’s golden feet. When he returned to Celtic, he looked lazy. In reality he was the same player, but shiftless brilliance was no longer enough.
I hope Motherwell get a turn out of Nadir during his six month loan. There’s talent buried there, if they can make it move around a little.

just reading back, who was the guy giving ianbhoy from devon some stick this morning.
I watched Ciftci few times while he played for Polish side Pogoń Szczecin last year.
Heard that the guy was the biggest motivator of all times in Szczecin. Every Pogon player learned quickly he is not worse the guy whose wages were very high, who signed for the big, famous club Celtic Glasgow.

Kite flyers in the Italian media have Lazio being willing to pay 10 /11 or 12 million euros for Simunovic if they fail to hang on to Di Vrij.. The facts — ? – The player’s agent has said that Di Vrij wants to leave Lazio and ,wont be signing a new contract . That agent also claimed that Barca and Manchester Utd want Di Vrij . Quoted fee is £30 million
It’s bye bye Jozo if the bid comes in. He will want to go to Lazio anyway. He’ll get more dosh, it will boost his international hopes and he will be living in beautiful Rome. As long as the fee is reasonable, take it. However, my hunch is it won’t happen.

I was just looking at the picture of Judas with Mr. McNeil. That picture was taken on the afternoon that the Celtic Youth team was travelling to the BP cup final vs Dundee United. The wee fammy went around all of us and shook our hand telling us how great he felt at coming back. He had the worst sweater in the world underneath the hoops.
