Dalglish, we are told, ran to his bedroom to rip posters off the wall, in case Sean Fallon would see them and reconsider, but Celtic have always been open to all. Kenny will tell you, he was assured Rangers were preparing to sign him, but this was Celtic. In 1967. He knew which way the tide of history was flowing.
Sean’s boss, The Boss, once spent his free Saturdays following Rangers. Stein didn’t just become a lapsed Rangers fan, according to his friend and biographer, Archie Macpherson. As Celtic manager, he made it his business to wholly and completely end the dominance they had over the then humble team from Parkhead. I’ll spare the detail of how that sentiment translated down to the vernacular.
Scott Allan made no secret of his boyhood allegiances. He would have gone to Ibrox in a flash, as would so many of our historic greats, but this decision came down to a simple truth. The basic salary on offer at Celtic is around three times what the jungle drums were offering across the city. This disparity means it’s not just about the money, it’s about that tide of history, which Kenny Dalglish knew so well.
Today is witness to one more veil being peeled off, exposing more of the consequences of what happened when Rangers decided not to make provisions for the inevitable challenge to their aggressive tax avoidance schemes. Their Discounted Options Scheme was found to be illegal, as were several of their Employee Benefit Trusts, with the remainder subject to appeal, but the club went to the wall because that inevitable challenge made it impossible for them to borrow other people’s money.
Liquidation followed and hundreds of creditors were left unpaid, but while a newco from such ashes could change their name to Rangers and wear the same jerseys, it was always going to look like an off-key tribute act. This was never going to be about three years in the lower leagues.

John McKay duznt buckle and continues to sport the blue tie !
I remember the days when cqn was the go to place
for Celtic news, so ffs what’s happening?, this is dragging
on……….I’m not liking this.
Fair play to the bloke Alan going back on clyde and admitting he was wrong, plus wishing Paddy Allan all the best.
Greenman, see what I did there :) good to see you are back btw. HH
This story is actually all about Hibs. Hibs were told in no uncertain terms that they’d need a new manager if they sold Allan to RFC. Genuine reasons – he wouldn’t get the money, he’d be holed below the water line in the league battle. Hibs board told manager it was unrealistic to lose out on £250k to a Bosman. Weeks of internecine strife at Easter Road and a bright spark engineered this possibility and it appears to have come off. Hibs get their cash, team is strengthened/neutral at worst with loan signing, opposition is not strengthened. This is a great deal for Hibs, they’re cock-a-hoop and nervous as hell till it happens.
Nye Bevans’ rebel soldier
Celtic are waiting on Paul the Tim finishing work so he can get up for his photo
STOP THE PRESS. . . .
Rangers have put in a last gasp offer of 500,000 to Hibs for Scott Allan.
Hibs have told them they can shove their Kensitas coupons up their arse.
Starry
Maybe before the end of the show, so that we get BFSDJ breaking down live?
bournesouprecipe
I hope they have a tow truck on site..
From Twitter. . .
Hibs would have sold Allen to Sevco if they had been promoted. It’s not Hibs fault they got gubbed 6-1 by Murderwell.
Sips.
I take it Alan was the Paris bun from last night.
Not very often we hear about huns and fair play in the same paragraph. :-)
BFSDJ ! His voice is heading to a high pitch, and I doubt if he will finish the show, he hasent cracked any of his beano/dandy jokes yet,
The Spirit of Arthur Lee……..thought it might be something

“Lawwell and Dempster have definitely done some sort of deal”
BFSJD (actually gets paid for this stuff)
The deid team’s new manager on being asked about Scott Allan says he only wants players who want to play for his team. Didn’t Scott Allan make it abundantly clear that that is what he wanted too but the deid team are simply also rans nooadays.
Great feeling,by the way. Hope Scott Allan justifies our manager’s faith in him.
We never wanted the guy. We made THREE bids for a player we didn’t want!
Spiers saying Celtic are “meddling”. What is the man on about???
SA, is there to take Stokes place. media being bozo clowns and playing everything down.
Hail Hail.

Spiers, the empty tutu on the broken down stage of hunnery…

GlassTwoThirdsFull
Cheers – so he does
Scot Allan signs for Celtic, don’t cry lamb eaters.
Hail Hail.

If there was a delay we would know by now, because SMSM would have been inventing it or gleefully reporting it.
I’ve never seen a transfer where Wee Jamesie is the club spokesman, what a guy. ;-)
Hilarious revisionist none sense on radio stations. So far I’ve heard the experts say Rangers didn’t want Allan, Hibs wouldn’t have sold to Rangers no matter the price, Don’t really see where Allan would have fit into the Rangers side… Don’t see why Celtic bought him but he might be a replacement for Biton or Johansen who could go… Celtic don’t need him…
For gods sake we’ve signed a cheap prospect. How come no one can accept that
BSR
Wee Jamesy is an allrounder:))
Ghod Bless Him…
Reports just in from Celtic Park. “Apparently the Celtic medical staff are having trouble tearing Scott Allans Hunstring which is causing delays to in the completion of his signing a Contract.”
Off line for 24hrs….
Anyone got a strong opinion about Celtic signing Scott Allan…?
:-)))
If you’re old enough to remember the Huns signing Judas then the contrast in the media reaction between then and now tells you all you need to know about their allegiances.
Taking things out of context, did I just hear the Spiers is giving up. He just said it on bbc. Please do Mr Spiers.
Hail Hail.
