Commons, Hartson and some real Celtic heroes

907

Had a great time at the Celtic Supporters Association Rally last night.  It was a great celebration of all that is good about our club, with thousands of pounds raised for the John Hartson Foundation.  Neil Lennon spoke warmly of John, about his courage and ability.  As well as recognising the great achievements of this season, CSA Player of the Year, Kris Commons, could not hide his disappointment that we are not going for a treble next week.  Hibs will have their hands full with him at Hampden next week.

I’ve never heard a footballer talk as John Hartson did.  He was clearly emotional as he took the microphone from the manager but soon go into his flow.  He told us about the three hours spent in the car before telling his family the diagnosis of his illness.  His achievements as a footballer are remarkable and John is very proud of them.  His absence through injury in Seville clearly hurt.  Did it pass a crucial advantage to Porto?  John thinks so.

His own failings were put out there with the disarming confidence that only someone who has climbed a few personal mountains can do.  The ‘hangers-on’, who filled his days a few years ago, had their cards marked.

Reamonn Gormley’s parents, Jim and Ann, were also guests of the Association.  Jim asked me to pass on a thank you from him and Ann to all Celtic fans for what they have done for them and the Thai Tims in the last two years.  Their world will never be the same again but the support they have received from the Celtic Family has overwhelmed them.  Your community has done very well, but there is nothing new in that.

With supporters like we have our club is in good hands.   Well done to all who carry out the thankless tasks running busses, organising fundraisers and keeping the moral compass pointing in the right direction.

    Where are your tickets for ?

    The main stand should be ok, but no matter where you can’t wear a Celtic top.

    I’m thinking of doing the same as you.

    That SSB don’t half talk a load of old shoite…… Waxing lyrical about their view that Wigan are financially bigger than Celtic, and how wonderful it was with St Mirren beating Celtic in the cup……common theme….anything anti-Celtic is the ‘rule of the day’ …….hahahahaha ..hurtin’ huns……great stuff……….’have to say’ this, ‘have to say’ that ……comedy gold ……. We are ‘sticking it to them’, and they don’t like it one little bit…… LOL

    Was just about to post. .. if you can hold your celebrations you might be ok in the hibs end

    But if you spit the dummy out if they score it would be a dead giveaway ;))))

    I attended the last CF against Hibs and hadn’t seat in the main stand amongst the Hibs fans. No colours visible. Went for a pie before half time when Jackie scored. I seen it on the TV screen, shouted ‘yes’ police approached and advised that there was some trouble in that area and I would not be allowed to return. There was some trouble and I was eventually removed from the ground.! Watched second half in the Mount Florida!! Mutch to the amusement of my mate when I text him in the Celtic end. Be careful and it is very difficult to hold your tongue or actions, when the Celts score!!!

    I’ve listened to SSB th last couple of nights. Been pleasantly surprised at Delahunt in particular. He’s set the record straight after the likes of Keevins mentioned the Deadybears being “demoted”, Delahunt reconciled fiction with the fact that they are a new club who entered the Third Division.

    How many days you doing it over ??

    If the behaviour of the Hibs fans at CP this season is anything to go by you will need to be very discrete. They spat out venom at us for 90 mins. They were as bad as Jambos that day.

    Assuming you don’t have a Glasgow accent that should help at least!

    I hope you and your kid have a memorable trip.

    dont flounce off bud, we are all trying to read the documents.

    personally, i wouldt take a kid in the hibs end, if you do, dont celebrate any celtic play,

    ive sat with hibs fans in their main stand on two occasions (henriks debut !) and they were not tim friendly in any way, abuse and spit came my way.

    i think its risky enough, i wouldnt do it.

    rebelbhoy, I often used to sit in the wrong end at away games when I had no tickets. Keeping quiet when we scored was easy, I could keep my smiles and screams inside. The hard part was pretending to be happy if the opposition scored. Tynecastle was by miles the scariest place to be, horrible atmosphere.

    To be honest, I only listen to SSB for a wee while some nights, but turn it off as soon as I hear keevins…..have no respect for the wee weasel at all, can’t bear to listen to him…. Really pleased our Board banned him….he would make any place look untidy……LOL ….HH

  23. PFayr;

    You did well, mate! I took 7 days last time with a crowd of guys and reckon as I am going with my wife and another couple this time it will be the same again.

    We’re doing (A) Milngavie to (B) Drymen tomorrow. Drive 2 cars to B leave one car there and drive back to A.

    We’ll do the same for Drymen to Rowardennan.

    Thereafter it will get tricky and will probably involve overnight stays.

    Rowardennan to Inverarnan is going to be a challenge due to the need to drive all the way round the Loch to leave a car then drive all the way back again. Any suggestions would be welcome!

    BTW the WHW site I’m on says;

    Bridge of Orchy to Inveroran – Distance / Time: 2 miles (3.2 km) / 1 to 3 hours. Whit!!!

  24. Sparklegirl

    Agree re Tyney. Mind a game where we won 4-0 ( wee McLaughlin got two) and vowed I’d never sit in the home stand there again. Never said a word all game – just hoped nobody would look at the hooped socks I was wearing!

    Surely today is the day “ra peepo” that have had any part to play In the demise of “dignity fc”, whether it be exploiting tax laws, corrupt refereeing, suspicious corporate governance, collusion of fraudsters all the way through to mis reporting churnalists and average bears believing the hype MUST accept Rangers ceased to exist, Sevco will follow the same route as the corruption continues In the same manner as the former club.
