CQN and Celtic Supporters Liaison

475

I’m having a preoccupied week, so Hot Smoked and vfr800a8 have kindly stepped forward with today’s article, and an initiative, which will hopefully establish a direct route for the blog to ask questions of the club.

This is from  Hot Smoked and vfr800a8, please support the initiative:

In 2004 Paul67 decided that something was needed to combat the distorted MSSM reporting on all things Celtic.  The result was the birth of CQN.

Like all good ideas, CQN has developed and now provides an outlet for discussions ranging from Independence to toasted cheese.  Nevertheless, the raison d`etre of the site remains the same i.e. as provision of a vehicle to inform on all matters Celtic from a less prejudiced view than that of the MSSM.  However, there are still issues that arise that could do with some direct input and clarification from Celtic.

With that in mind, we contacted John Paul Taylor, the Celtic Supporters Liaison Officer and after discussion he has agreed to host a weekly/fortnightly Q & A session at a set time on CQN.  He is also willing to do a Blog Q&A session on a regular basis if required; the frequency of the “regular basis” is yet to be defined so we will approach this flexibly.

If there are urgent issues that arise then we can approach John Paul to see if there is a possibility of a response prior to the scheduled meetings, though it is expected that this will only take place in exceptional circumstances.

Initially, to ensure that all areas of any given topic are covered, we would propose we tackle different sets of questions on separate weeks; for example:

Week 1 – Res 12 and “same club” issues

Week 2 – The stadium, fan experience and safety at other stadiums

Week 3 – Ticket allocation issues

Week 4 – Offensive Behaviour at Football Act

The questions and issues will be collated centrally on CQN and grouped to reflect the various views on the Blog.  We feel that this approach is unique to CQN and don’t think any other fan site has this opportunity so we must use it wisely.

It is envisaged that if those using CQN see this as being useful and beneficial that we start the meetings on Friday 18th November 2016, so we would finalise questions and issues by mid-day on tomorrow, 17th November to get them to John Paul.  Please send questions you would like to raise to competition@celticquicknews.co.uk and Liason in the subject line

So, let us know what you think and if the feedback is positive, we can get this off the ground!  If there are issues or questions you have on Res 12 and the same club myth please let us know by noon tomorrow by emailing competition@celticquicknews.co.uk

Thanks, Hot Smoked and vfr800a8.

In other news CQN is delighted to publish Stephen Murray’s new book Kenny of the Celtic today. It’s available now from cqnbookstore.com

If I may intrude on your private conversations:

Would I be wrong in concluding that you would have preferred to have given our esteemed Board “a bloody nose” in 2013 by pushing Res12 to a vote when presumably the would have voted down the resolution? Are you unhappy that perhaps now with, hopefully, the support of the Board there will be progress in unearhing the truth- in addition to what the Res12 bhoys have already uncovered? If so, may I ask why?

We have all been at meetings at which the motion we were supporting was defeated in a vote.

May I make a suggestion. If I were you and had a dossier which I wished the club to consider I would put it in an envelope marked “For your eyes only”, go along to an offig an phoist and have An Post mail it to the Club Secretary. He could then consider how valid your points may be. HH

I wasn’t then, and I’m not now, interested in giving the Board “a bloody nose”. I viewed the Res 12 of 2013 AGM as an ideal way of gauging the plc intention re the fate of ‘Rangers’. The prospective bind of the plc was easily solved. The resolutioners agreed to an adjournment.

I’m not even arguing that the Board strategy was wrong. Leaving aside the club’s lack of ethics in throwing its lot in with the corrupt Scottish game, I’m sure the plc can make perfect sense of its economic strategy. So, in that sense I have to confess to my own double standards and the guilty pleasure I have at least once every day, as I rewind to watch and drool over Moussa’s goal in the semis.

    Oh and here’s a trick,

Initially I was under the impression you supported res12 and it turns out you are/were not, you opened correspondence under your email name giving it the Uriah Heep and warning me about untrustworthy members of the team but couldn’t provide anything to back up you assertions.

Then after the adjournment told me I’d sold everyone down the river and wanted nothing more to do with res12.

So all in all I’d say I don’t know you but I now know you better and will waste no more of my precious time on you, enjoy the last word I know how important that is to liars.

    Thank you for your response.

I am truly at a loss to understand what it is that you are seeking. Leaving aside the suspicion regarding our Board’s motives, in which matter you are not alone, would you not accept that the Requisitioners have schieved fantastic success in progressing Res12 matters? To have proceeded to a vote in 2013 might, or might not, have shown up our Board but to what end? Unfortunately, there are many supporters who still yearn for games against Sevco and the Board may have adduced arguments to support its stance based on the limited knowledge we had in 2013.

Who cares whether or not one of the team driving forward Res12 was, or was not, a shareholder in 2013. It does not disqualify Res12.

I suggest that you send your dossier by post to the company secretary and let’s be done with internet sniping. HH

    And here’s another trick, Canamalar.

It just so happens I have just read the email in question (23rd June, 2013). When, in good faith, I cautioned against “untrustworthy members of the team” you got back and reassured me that you would have no problems on that account.

In fact you reassured me further about how much on top you were of the situation and able to deal with possible ‘leaks’ from a fellow resolutioner too close to the Board when you said,

“I have no doubt my plan has already made its way to PL, that is part of the plan I want them to know exactly what is coming.”

I have the emails. I’ve no problem reproducing our correspondence.

I know it was addressed to Ernie Lynch and you feel you are surprised that you are under a witch hunt attack but……

“For (what should be) obvious reasons.” Could you explain, please.”

    seems remarkably obtuse to me.

One moment’s exercise of even a limited imagination would tell you what the dangers are of an individual, even a Celtic shareholder, being given access to the private names of all shareholders (so that you can, personally, I believe, cross-check them against names on the requisitioners list).

Anyone unscrupulous or someone with a grudge can release this information, or let slip this information, to people who would be willing to harass or worse, the individuals identified. The Animal Liberation Front used to firebomb the homes of those who sponsored animal testing facilities; other agencies e-mail people to withdraw their support for identified target companies or organisations, often accompanied by threats. Think how much the Sons of Strewth and The Vanguard Mob would prize access to exactly the same information you are looking for.

Now why can’t you see that which is staring everyone else in the face?

Why, if you suspect the wrongdoing on the involvement of non-shareholders in the requisitioner process (not illegal unless they falsely represent themselves as a shareholder) do you personally need to scan and memorise the list? Why would it not be sufficient to make the accusation and let the Company Secretary respond? Do you think they would lie to you?

You express surprise that you have been viewed with suspicion in this whole process but no-one reading these pages, who does not know you personally, can be at all surprised that this view is taken.

The demand to know names- the demand to get the information personally- all very McCoist-like in tone.

Now there are very many posters on here who have expressed doubts about the varying motives amongst the 4 main requisitioners. Awe Naw, Mags McGill, kitalba and others I cannnot recall now have all stated such concerns, or concerns quite close to yours, at times openly on this blog. None of them had their Celtic credentials doubted because they were established and known to others.

You were treated differently and with suspicion because you were known to no-one until papajoe spoke for you.

With the treatment already offered to poster on here (Morrisey, The Battered Bunnet, James Forrest etc;) I find it amazing that you can post that question to ernie with such innocence.

I am not a shareholder but, if I were, I would be worried about my name potentially going into any public domain now without good reason.

You are entitled to have your questions answered. You are, I hope, not entitled to all that you ask for.

Work has started now and I must await reply till this evening.

Questions for Celtic Supporters Liaison Officer – Update

A number of questions came in yesterday around the Res12/Same Club issues; as expected many were of a similar nature so we have distilled them into the following questions:

    1. Will Celtic, as a member club, object to the SPFL official website listing a current member club, calling itself Rangers, as being founded in 1872, and having won over 100 honours, including 54 top tier titles, thus backing claims from that club that it is Scotland’s most successful, despite it being just over four years old? If not, why not?

    2. Do the Celtic Board believe the club presently playing out of Ibrox is a four-year-old club?

    3. Why don’t Celtic make a public statement and clarify their stance on the “same club issue”?

    4. Does the Celtic Board believe that Rangers should have been granted a UEFA Licence in 2011?

    5. Was Peter Lawwell deliberately duped by Stewart Reagan over the granting of a UEFA Licence to Rangers (In Liquidation) in 2011 as it now transpires that Mr Regan, in writing to the Celtic CEO, provided him with the wrong date regarding the grant of the licence?

    6. Celtic FC and other clubs were cheated by the “no sporting advantage” LNS verdict. Wil Celtic take this to UEFA and challenge SFA/LNS Verdict?

These have been submitted to John Paul Taylor in advance of a meeting with him on Friday afternoon. A brief update may appear on the Blog; but a full report on the meeting will be presented on CQN over the weekend. This is the first formal meeting so it will be interesting to see how it goes; it may take a few weeks to get it right but we are confident that it will be of real benefit to CQN and provide us with a great opportunity to get some real feedback from the club.

Any further queries or questions should go to competition@celticquicknews.co.uk for a reply.

    8. Why after 5 years are you still reticent with regards to undertaking any investigations ?

    9. is the relationship between Celtic FC and the SFA irreversibly broken ?

    10. If not what has given the PLC encouragement that the SFA can continue in their role as arbitrators of the Scottish game ?

    11. Why has Celtic never publicly disputed the 5 way agreement in it´s role as a member of both the SPFL and the SFA which fully supported the 5 way agreement ?

    12. Do pertinent questions mean that the Resolution 12’ers are going to have to go to a judicial review in an attempt to get a fair hearing ?

Watch Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn confronting SCHOOLBOY after being called s***e

THE English star, armed with a chippy, is seen almost nose to nose with a young boy, demanding that he ‘say it to me face’.

    By Rossi Mc Cafferty

RANGERS striker Martyn Waghorn has been filmed confronting a mere schoolboy who heckled him in a busy street outside Glasgow.

Waghorn, 26, who has managed just a single goal all this entire season, is obviously letting the criticism get to him and looks to stressed out.

Armed with a bag that appears to be a jumbo bumper triple bypass order from nearby chippy Catch in Giffnock, Waghorn wearing an aluminium foil hat apparently overhears one of a group of schoolboys from a local school calling him s***e

The Englishman then storms towards the apparent culprit with a Liam Gallagher gait, who seems remarkably unfazed as the furious forward demands that he “say it to me face” in his thick Wearside accent.

The schoolboy, from high-achieving secondary school St Ninian’s, appears to casually repeat his allegation while nonchalantly munching a sandwich.

Waghorn, who is several inches shorter than the lad, seems satisfied with the reaction and beiong offered a bite of teh schoolboys sandwich and is heard saying ‘good lad’ before walking off.

Reaction online has ranged from hilarity to anger as the video of the out-of-form stiker quickly amassed thousands of views.

One tweeted: “Come say it to meh face” says the pro Rangers player and grown man, Martyn Waghorn to a school boy cause he called him s***e hahahahaha fud.”

Another wrote: “Big man waghorn square going a 15 year old for calling him s***e”.

And a particularly popular tweet read: “Martyn Waghorn does walking away”.

One, however, contended that the ‘abusive’ teen’s parents should be ashamed and that Waghorn was ‘spot on’ to confront him.

“He is obviously suffering mental health issues and is far from s***e his parents should be ashamed of him”

There were also comments made on the striker’s choice of lunch, with many online querying why a professional athlete who lives alone in his bedsit would be having two fish suppers, and single sausage with a pickled onion and egg for lunch midweek.

In Waghorn’s defence, however, the Chippy, “Catch”, was recently named the best in Scotland and has great lunchtime offers
