CQN and Celtic Supporters Liaison

475

I’m having a preoccupied week, so Hot Smoked and vfr800a8 have kindly stepped forward with today’s article, and an initiative, which will hopefully establish a direct route for the blog to ask questions of the club.

This is from  Hot Smoked and vfr800a8, please support the initiative:

In 2004 Paul67 decided that something was needed to combat the distorted MSSM reporting on all things Celtic.  The result was the birth of CQN.

Like all good ideas, CQN has developed and now provides an outlet for discussions ranging from Independence to toasted cheese.  Nevertheless, the raison d`etre of the site remains the same i.e. as provision of a vehicle to inform on all matters Celtic from a less prejudiced view than that of the MSSM.  However, there are still issues that arise that could do with some direct input and clarification from Celtic.

With that in mind, we contacted John Paul Taylor, the Celtic Supporters Liaison Officer and after discussion he has agreed to host a weekly/fortnightly Q & A session at a set time on CQN.  He is also willing to do a Blog Q&A session on a regular basis if required; the frequency of the “regular basis” is yet to be defined so we will approach this flexibly.

If there are urgent issues that arise then we can approach John Paul to see if there is a possibility of a response prior to the scheduled meetings, though it is expected that this will only take place in exceptional circumstances.

Initially, to ensure that all areas of any given topic are covered, we would propose we tackle different sets of questions on separate weeks; for example:

Week 1 – Res 12 and “same club” issues

Week 2 – The stadium, fan experience and safety at other stadiums

Week 3 – Ticket allocation issues

Week 4 – Offensive Behaviour at Football Act

The questions and issues will be collated centrally on CQN and grouped to reflect the various views on the Blog.  We feel that this approach is unique to CQN and don’t think any other fan site has this opportunity so we must use it wisely.

It is envisaged that if those using CQN see this as being useful and beneficial that we start the meetings on Friday 18th November 2016, so we would finalise questions and issues by mid-day on tomorrow, 17th November to get them to John Paul.  Please send questions you would like to raise to competition@celticquicknews.co.uk and Liason in the subject line

So, let us know what you think and if the feedback is positive, we can get this off the ground!  If there are issues or questions you have on Res 12 and the same club myth please let us know by noon tomorrow by emailing competition@celticquicknews.co.uk

Thanks, Hot Smoked and vfr800a8.

In other news CQN is delighted to publish Stephen Murray’s new book Kenny of the Celtic today. It’s available now from cqnbookstore.com

    Neganon2,

To be perfectly honest I knew of no statement being made, until yesterday, nor did I expect any great statement of intent bar working with the shareholders so I’m interested in where you get your information from, please enlighten me ?

I’m also interested in what you think should be done next and how res12 should be progressed, criticism is easy, let’s try some constructive criticism, again please enlighten me ?

    Two very serious questions

That’s both the herald and the Scotsman broke cover on res12 today, is the veil over res12 being lifted, I note they are cherry picking the latest update release from Auldheid, looks like everyone is becoming experts all of a sudden :)

Again apologies but I’m busy with work related stuff.

Who did you send your email to at Celtic?

Is there anything that makes you think that whoever the intended recipient was didn’t receive it?

I get the impression that you’re looking for me to pass on the email address of the company secretary. I’m sorry but there is no chance of me doing that.

BRTH replied to me yesterday on the blog saying Celtic plc would be making a statement on Res 12 and they Celtic plc would now take this forward in conjunction with the requisitioners, I at least expected to see this statement from the plc.

Winning Captain also said in Persistance beats Resistance that Celtic would make a statement today.

  13. An Teach Solais on

    DESSYBHOY

The statement was read out to shareholders at the AGM by Ian Bankier.

There was no promise of a public statement as far as I understood the situation. The Chair made the right noises and, if the main requisitioners are reasonably happy then so must I be. However, we may have to maintain pressure to get results. HH

  14. A great idea to have the Q&A session. Anything that helps with communications between the club and fans is a good thing.

If this has not been already posted here is the Celtic TV video of the fans who slept out overnight for charity…

Club Financial Control Body an independent investigatory body who have the power to demand all information and documentation, the reasoning behind requesting them to investigate was that they will not have provenance issues, as they will have access to the original documents, they can also review all of HMRC’s documents, in the end it is only HMRC’s documents they need to review as all othe relevant info is in the public domain. Regan told the world there was no overdue payable and the Rangers chairman at the time told the world there was an overdue payable.

Spotted H.T and Minx, well done to everyone involved and all who participated.

    Hail Hail.

    Night all. Enjoy.

  18. So what questions have posters asked John Paul on Resolution 12 and “same club” ( stopit!) issues?

Hopefully posters’ concerns on these matters, as evidenced by blog discussions over the years, will be reflected in the volume of queries.

  19. Canamalar the suggestion was made that Celtic would make a statement today. That was on the blog yesterday. I was hopeful something would happen today.

But Celtic did the usual. Nothing.

We then get the story that there will be a chat tomorrow. Fair enough but forgive me for my scepticism based on past record of the board.

With regards to your second question a couple of things. Firstly I think you guys have done a fantastic job DESPITE the boards obvious lack of willingness to do anything. Man they must be cursing you privately in the boardroom.

I think to a great extent we have missed a few opportunities and it might be too late ( I think your talks and approach are our last hope). The latest one was post the Hun defeat in the cup. The board had once again royally screwed up and we had them worried (hence Brendan). I think mass protests at Celtic park would have also brought pressure.

So canamalar we have I fear missed the boat. The board are simply burying it all.

I don’t have any better answers than you and I am not criticising you guys (despite all of our frustration). I think it’s pretty clear now that the board will do anything to bury this. After all racism is a money maker for them.

One of the problems is the different perceptions folk hold of how things work.

There is no smooth oiled machine with all gears clicking together. Take yesterday for example: I know from Monday night there was a missed call twixt BRTH and Comp Sec.

That was probably caused by a prod to the latter earlier Monday by Canman asking Comp Sec ‘whiskey tango foxtrot’? Later about 2am an e mail with a synopsis of a conversation BRTH has had with Comp Sec. arrives just as Im switching off the laptop. About 2.45 having replied I head for bed.

Now my good lady has by midday on Tuesday dragged me off my phone that I’ve been on most of the morning to have lunch in the warm sunshine.

I’m enjoying a fruit cider and her a rum n coke to wash down her cottage pie when I’m aware of a DM on Twitter from BRTH saying to Morrisey and I “check your e mails. ”

Risking, and I mean risking, death by the cold stare I check. There follows for the next few hours various exchanges whilst we consider the various angles including is this something we can go along with? The temperature meanwhile is dropping rapidly and it’s not the setting sun.

In the Conclusions document posted on CQN there is a para about not being able to take Res12 any further without Celtic doing what UEFA asked which is to deal with the issue as a member club.

Celtic’s commitment was an absolute for obvious reasons and the e mail feedback was that Celtic accepted their might be something in our Conclusions but wanted to be certain (no bad thing) and if satisfied would pursue.

That was what I was looking for, something that signified taking a move towards ownership of the issue.

As Canalamar says the process by which we now proceed needs tightened to reflect how we achieve our aims, which themselves need confirming but the super goal is SFA reform which might be rather a large elephant that needs eaten a bit at a time.

It’s like Celtic have put in an offer for a house, the bid has been accepted and it’s down to moving out whilst they move in.

Because there are tricky neighbours around we will hang around to protect the new owner . In fact given our paucity in numbers allied to a couple being out of the UK, we really should increase the numbers in the team.

The ultimate aim for me is to enjoy my cold cider in the sun without being frozen myself by the icy stare, but I’m not going to wait forever.
