Craig Whyte owns the club, stupid

183

Rangers’ administrator, Paul Clark, last night released an utterly bizarre statement in response to the SFA punishment for breaking a lengthy list of rules in the lead up to and since Craig Whyte’s takeover of the club 11 months ago.  Clark said:

“It appears that on one hand the disciplinary panel accepted our central argument that responsibility for bringing the Club into disrepute lay with the actions of one individual – Craig Whyte – as is evident from the unprecedented punishment meted out to him.

“During this hearing the Club produced compelling evidence from a number of sources that following his takeover, Craig Whyte ran the Club in a thoroughly unaccountable manner, rather than adhering to a long-established and proper form of corporate governance.

“The thrust of the charges against the Club focused on non-payment of payroll taxes and evidence was produced that all such decisions in this area were taken by Craig Whyte during his tenure.

“Given this evidence, it is difficult to comprehend that the disciplinary panel has seen fit to effectively punish the Club even more heavily than Mr Whyte. As everyone knows, it has already been decided he is not a fit and proper person to run a football club and any further punishment on him will have little or no impact.

“Furthermore, we do not know how bidders for the Club will react to these sanctions and what affect they will have on their proposals.”

Mr Clark should know better.  Companies, including football clubs, are responsible for the corporate acts of their directors.  Also, Craig Whyte owns 85% of Rangers and should he sell it in the weeks ahead, his sale price could be directly enhanced by a lesser punishment.

Moreover, Mr Whyte is also the secured creditor for Rangers.  Whatever bids prospective buyers of the club submit, up to around £30m, will go directly to Craig Whyte.  If this punishment reduces the value of Rangers it reduces the money Whyte will receive as a shareholder and as a creditor.

There is no point in Duff and Phelps squealing now. If they wanted to separate club from owner they should have brought more focus to the sale process weeks ago. This punishment is measured and appropriate.

Good post. Maybe it was for situations such as this that crosswords and DIY were invented.

Do you know what I like best about all of this huns stuff? The fact that they don’t like it, aren’t used to it and weren’t expecting it. That’s my favourite bit.

    Lambert v rfc(ia)

My favourite ever game v them.

I remember Lambert at the end of the game giving his jersey to someone in a wheelchair in the disabled section.

Talk about loving/hating players. Compare the feeling of love for Lambert even to this day to that of the other scorer that night.

Found this little gem of a response on RM to a guy who suggested a 1pm Huns walkout on Sunday:

“Stupid idea but kudos for trying to think of something.”

Dundee made a mockery of their sanctions by fielding loads of trialists.

The sanction states players can not be signed, a loan is registered with another club.

I also believe that the hun broke rule 54, for which they were fined 50k, the rule also states that membershish will be stripped from them.

Talk about governance, only when it suits, as I said toothless.

Half time, Rugby Park Kilmarnock 3 Celtic 0.

Stokesy gets booted but the referee chooses to ignore the challenge and Tony’s claims for a foul.

So irate is he that he, along with James Forrest (no’ you), set about dismantling Killie for the next twenty minutes.

The Celtic support deserve special mention here and could rightfully be worthy of nomination on their own. It was the day when a support dragged a club from its knees.

If they did manage to put together a Newco in the Third Division – could we not loan a bunch of U’19s to an adopted club – Clyde or Queens Park – to make sure that Newco huns don’t get promoted?

And dying in your bed many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance, to back Tennents and tell our enemies that they may take our league titles but they will never take our freedom to drink!”

    or something like that!!!!!!

Against the wishes of many, many, the Queen went to Dublin and laid a wreath in memory of those who rebelled against her crown. She stood in Glasnevin Cemetery and listened to The Boys of the Old Brigade.

It was, for many of us, very much overdue, nevertheless, she did it; she did it against the wishes of many a Gollum in the establishment.

I don’t think she will go anywhere near Ibrox. Her quintessentials are ever so out of favour.

I hope Bairds Bar serve her only their very best ice-cream and jelly.

James Forrest : Landmark moments for me that brought the title.

3-3 Kilmarnock game…..Stokesy’s free kick to get us going.

1-0 Hearts at home…..Big Vic’s first goal…..followed by FF last minute penalty save

    1-0 Huns at home……Joe Led’s header

2-0 away to St Mirren ……2 early goals to win game in first 10 mins against an improving St Mirren team (at that time) who would go onto take 4 pts out of 6 against Huns

2-1 Motherwell away…..kicked off 15 pts behind and went 1 down early on.

1-0 Dundee Utd away……Hooper scored early

4-0 Hearts away……pre- administration and a performance that showed where the title was heading. 1st min….they almost score …we race up other end and Broony scored.

6-0 Kilmarnock away……title clinching performance , best of the season in 1st half

    Re. Stokes and Killie.

This was his triumph.Couldn`t believe the level of committment he showed.

He took the game by the scruff of the neck and made it his and ours.

Not to diminish the contributions of others.

Can this determination be channelled for future use?

    Very confident it can.

  15. CELTIC midfielder, Ki Sung Yueng, has been ruled out for four to five weeks with a hamstring injury picked up in the weekend’s 3-0 victory over Motherwell.

Ki was substituted in the first half at Fir Park and the injury means that his season is now effectively over, with just four competitive matches remaining.

It has also been confirmed that Filip Twardzik will be out for around a fortnight following his injury in the SFA Youth Cup final on Monday night.

The Czech midfielder was hurt in an accidental collision in the first half and suffered a stud puncture in his foot which required stitches.

  16. completely off topic, any East Enders tell me, did the new road open yet ?

  17. Just read this in an article on ESPN. Funny, delusional and bizarre.

“McCulloch is a much underrated footballer and someone whose experience could be vital in nursing the youngsters through next season. Perhaps it is fanciful but I would also welcome a return for the likes of Barry Ferguson who benefited form EBTs. I think a contribution from players like that to the restoration of the club would be apt. You’ve made your money over the years Barry so step up and prove your “love” for the club and play for a nominal fee.”

Paul67 – Interesting point made by the Rangers Supporters Assembly amid the predictable sea of hunnish bile and perma-rage:

Despite calls to delay this action the SFA persisted with this case while the club was not in a position to adequately defend itself

As we know, Rangers is in administration because it wanted to avoid paying its creditors, specifically HMRC, which it cynically and deliberately withheld taxes from in a transparent attempt to hasten an insolvency event.

So how dare the SFA punish Rangers while they are in administration!

By the same Bizarro-world hun logic, a man who kills his own parents should be spared punishment out of sympathy for his status as an orphan. (thumbsup)

  19. The more I read from D&P and the silence from the SDM/Johnstone/etc, the more I feel Whyte has simply been brought in as a fall guy for the establishment! He takes all the heat, bad feeling, etc for £XXMil, and NewCo is formed by the good guys, P.Murray, etc! Even though he’s one of the architects of their downfall, he’ll be the hero for them!

The SFA have effectively killed Them off, but why do you think CO would be involved in this? Is it simply, clean the slate and start again, or is there something else behind this? Regan came across poorly in the CH4 interview with AT, and he’s sat back and done nothing, or is unable to do anything, with CO and his SFA & secretary position with them! The ‘stirring’ of these muddy waters by BM & the BK’s about reducing sanctions of Them as a NewCo, I think was a test of SFA/SPL reaction! Maybe we saw that reaction last night, or is this another smoke screen for D&P “we’re trying to save the club”, but I thought they worked in the interest of the creditors???…………remember, it was CW who pushed for them!!!

  20. I liked this comment from RangersMedia:

” We saw Dumfermline fail to pay wages after failing to ge the money for 1 game!”

Dunfermline FAILED! Not ” Rangers FAILED to pay.” !!

  21. stephenpollock on

Surely we can afford to buy Rangers, liquidate them, sell the assets and use their place to develop the U 19s. If our bid is better than the other skint bids then the administors have to agree. Call the team Celtic Development…that would be rather amusing.

  22. Marrakesh Express on

Its something I never do but just had a look at Rangers Media. Is this the site run by Dingwall? Dear oh dear…They just had a poll and 83% want to GTF out of ‘corrupt’ Scotland. 10% dont do walking away and the rest are probably still trying to figure out what button to press.

I had a wee scroll down and its worse than I thought. Vile, sectarian racist language. And its all those ‘tarrier b””’s’ fault. Its a tiimy conspiracy and Reagan has been ‘planted by Reid and Desmond’. etc etc..They have more or less decided that the lower English Leagues are for them now. …..Sad B””s.
