Criminal Justice Information database, where the missing data can be found

1125

Following yesterday’s article on the cosy relationship between the police and Scottish Government, who are alarming a remarkably wide range of society, a flurry of information has been passed back to me, including the following notes on the Integration of Scottish Criminal Justice Information Systems (ISCJIS) database.  The First Minister has stonewalled requests to breakdown religiously aggravated crime, claiming the Crown Office have destroyed their records, but my source suggests the information is available for analysis in the ISCJIS database.  I’m told:

“The material stored (in the ISCJIS database) ranges from simple conviction records, to DNA, and social status. The data is used primarily for presenting Criminal History in court cases, and in identifying suspects in criminal investigations. It is also used of course to measure the social impact of changes in Legislation and Enforcement Policy, as evidenced by the current furore. It will also be used to predict the impact of such changes, particularly as regards Equality and Diversity impacts, which is a statutory requirement of any proposed Legislation.  You see, the ‘missing’ data is actually necessary in predicting the impact on Equality of the Offensive Behaviour Bill.”

“Essentially, if you want to know how many Section 74 Breach of the Peace convictions (Aggravation for Religious Prejudice) or even charges, there were at a given point in time in a given court, you simply search on the Breach of the Peace Conviction Code and add the modifier code ‘P’ indicating Religious Aggravation. All such offences are then returned, with full access (rights permitted) to the Reports and Case Notes.”

To assist the First Minister, below is information on what the enquiry form he has to complete looks like.  This is a link to the operation manual and if he’s really stuck he can call the helpdesk on 0141-585 – 8333.

We can only speculate why the authorities are so reluctant to disclose information on, on a subject so close to their hearts.

Quick shout for the John Thomson Memorial Fund, which is benefiting from the sale of 60″ posters for the recent stage play, check them out on ebay.

‘No pressure’ on Celtic as Neil Lennon throws off shackles for Udinese trip..

CELTIC manager Neil Lennon will urge his players to have a sense of adventure as they seek an unprecedented success on Italian soil tomorrow night.

Only victory against Udinese at the Stadio Friuli will be good enough for Celtic to claim a place in the last 32 of the Europa League at the expense of their highly-regarded hosts in the final round of scheduled Group I fixtures.

It leaves Lennon with little option but to approach the match with a positive tactical mindset. Given Celtic’s record in Italy, where they have lost six and drawn two of their previous European away matches, he believes his team can afford to adopt a carefree attitude against the Serie A high fliers.

“We are going to be up against a top-class side, but it is a game to enjoy,” insisted Lennon. “There is no pressure on the players, really. I don’t think the expectation level is great but we will be dangerous. We do have to win it, a draw or a defeat is no good to us. We have to be very respectful of the opposition who are obviously an excellent side. They play a different formation to what we are accustomed to.

“I think we can set up to be a little bit more adventurous with our own approach. The pressure is off and the players can go and hopefully express themselves and do the club justice.”

Setting aside Celtic’s historical failure to win in Italy, the standards set by Udinese so far this season provide enough of a warning on their own of how daunting an assignment it is for Lennon’s men. The club from the north-eastern tip of Italy are currently level on points with Juventus at the top of Serie A, in second spot on goal difference and two points ahead of third-placed AC Milan.

Udinese have lost just two of their 14 league fixtures to date and it is their home record which underlines most clearly how much of an achievement it would be for Celtic to triumph tomorrow. Francesco Guidolin’s team have won all seven of their Serie A matches at the 41,600-capacity Friuli, conceding only two goals in the process. They have also won both of their previous Europa League home games, defeating Rennes 2-1 and Atletico Madrid 2-0.

Udinese’s only home defeat this season came against Arsenal in August when they lost 2-1 to Arsene Wenger’s side in the second leg of their Champions League Play-Off round tie. “I watched them play Arsenal and thought they were very, very unfortunate not to beat them,” added Lennon. “They missed a penalty in the second leg in Italy after taking the lead. So, they are a very dangerous team. They are very strong in midfield. They have great strength, athleticism and quality – and counter-attack very quickly.”

It remains to be seen if Celtic will have to face Antonio Di Natale, the Udinese captain who leads the Serie A scoring chart again this season. The 34-year-old striker has made just one Europa League appearance in the current campaign, coach Guidolin generally preferring to rest him for league matches. But Lennon expects Udinese, who need only a draw to qualify, to field a strong side as they look to join heavyweight clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Valencia, Porto and Ajax in the next stage of the Europa League.

“I would imagine they would want to get through to the knockout round, especially when you look at the clubs already in the last 32,” said Lennon. “I am sure their main priority is the Serie A title but they have been an excellent team for the last three or four years and have built up a very formidable squad.” None of the Udinese players have impressed Lennon more than the man who will represent a formidable barrier to Celtic’s hopes of upsetting the odds with a victory tomorrow, Slovenian international goalkeeper Samir Handanovic. “They have a brilliant goalkeeper, I think he is one of the best in the world,” added Lennon.

“I remember him from the last World Cup for Slovenia when he was fantastic, and he pulled off three or four unbelievable saves against us at Celtic Park in our home game against Udinese. He gives a great foundation for them to build on and with people like Di Natale in the team, there is always a goal threat at the other end. They are very well-organised but skilful into the bargain.” Elimination from the Europa League will clearly not be regarded as a calamity by Lennon, who continues to stress that his pursuit of the SPL title must take precedence this season.

“Our priority is obviously the domestic front, and last Saturday’s 1-0 win over Hearts will have done all the players the world of good in that respect,” he said. “We have an important game against St Johnstone at Perth on Sunday when we get back from Italy, but the dressing-room is buoyant. That’s six SPL wins in a row, and that takes a bit of doing. The clean sheets are totting up as well, which I am very pleased about.”

  18. Hadn’t been on the blog at all since yesterday lunchtime and I’ve only now seen the further statement made by the Club on the Official Site. Knowing the precise nature of our ‘illicit chanting’ helps me to understand why our Board have decided to accept the fine, regardless of my own opionion on whether or not they should have. We’ve already taken steps to change that particular line in the song. Feeling just a little bit better about this whole episode now and not quite as down as I was yesterday.

Hope you don’t ever go to court for trial were the evidence is hidden from you, you are not provided with all the facts and then your solicitor comes and and tells you you have been convicted and sentenced to 10 years for well carrying a knife you may or may not have been carrying. Yes it is wrong to carry a knife.

My view on the RA songs have been posted on this blog numerous times.

I WOULD STICK WITH CELTIC SONGS BUT I SEE NOTHING WRONG WITH SINGING MOST OF THE OLD IRISH SONGS There are plenty of excellent ones to choose from.

  20. Good morning to everyone.

After reading the statement from the club it is understandable why they took the line they did. In the outside world the struggle for a united Ireland had sympathy in many quarters but the use of force was always recognised as undermining the cause. There was no glory in the aftermath of a explosion when they were scrapping body parts of the road. No one doubts there are hostile elements within the Scottish establishment to Celtic FC but singing songs about ‘RA’ doesn’t help one iota.

I got mine yesterday but I got the impression that there was not so many left.

  22. Sorry I have been off the blog for sometime.

Is it only references to the Ra that are illicit? or is the Paddy McCourt song proscribed as well?

Quite frankly we have the best back catalogue of Celtic football songs that any team could want. Sing the Celtic songs.

I love the Paddy McCourt song and if we were being challenged on it I would defend the song to the hilt. The word fenian described a grouping of men who strived for Irish independence. It has only ever been derogatory in west of scotland parlance, because it usually had the suffix B………

Does it annoy the establishment that Celtic fans (to be honest the GB) have reclaimed the meaning of Fenian?

Probably as much as when the civil rights movement reclaimed the term Black!

However do we need to sing it at Celtic Park? We could sing Paddy McCourt’s Green and White Army! Or in good The Commitments style we could sing Say it Loud, I’m Black and I’m Proud!

  23. murdochbhoy

The Celtic symphony is hardly a song about the IRA . Its not even an irish republican song .

There is one litte bit in the song about “graffiti on the wall”

Like I said before I was at the Rennes game just along from the GB and heard the chorus being sung as “up the celts”

If plod picked up on a few singing the origional “up the ra” it still is really stretching creditablity to report us to uefa over it.

Plod must have made their plan in advance of the game and went ahead on the flimsiest of excuses.

  24. Can’t stand the guy as a players but a shocking state of affairs, if true.

IAN BLACK is working as a part-time painter and decorator as the Hearts wage row bites.

The Tynecastle players have been hit hard with no sign of their pay packets for the last two months.

And the midfielder is struggling to make ends meet so much he was out helping a tradesman pal in Edinburgh on Monday to make some extra cash.

SunSport can reveal Black’s feeling the pinch ahead of Christmas as he struggles to buy presents for his eight-year-old daughter.

A source told us: “Because the players are not getting paid, it got to the stage where Ian’s now started working for his mate.

“He owns a painting and decorating business and Ian was out doing hard graft on Monday on his day off.

“He is looking at the possibility of working twice a week for him in the run up to Christmas.

“He said to the gaffer last week he might have to work on a Monday and Tuesday because he has to put food on the table for his kid.

“He has got an eight-year-old daughter and needs money to go out and buy Christmas presents as well as put food on the table.”

The players have had one £1,000 payment but the rest is nowhere to be seen and their December wages are due to be paid on Friday.

But our source added: “We are not expecting to get paid on Friday at all.”

Players are suffering in the pocket and SunSport understands some players can’t pay their bills.

Our source, who is a first-team regular, said: “I am having to avoid my bills and I have constantly been getting reminders.

“I have a mortgage as well but I have spoken to the lenders and they are not too bad with me about it just now.”
