DEADLINE GREEN LIGHT FOR ANGE

1

ANGE POSTECOGLOU has been handed a crucial extra 24 hours as he puts the finishing touches to his recruitment drive in this transfer window.

The signing deadline had been due for midnight on August 31, but that has been extended to September 1 by the SPFL.
Last year, during the new Celtic manager’s first window, he just managed to land Cameron Carter-Vickers on loan from Spurs with little to spare or he would have lost the opportunity of capturing the US international centre-back for the first half of the campaign.
APPLAUSE…Ange Postecoglou will welcome the signing deadline extension.
The powerhouse defender became a key figure in the Greek-Australian’s plans and, of course, the switch became permanent in the summer when the champions shelled out £6million for the 24-year-old back-four operator.
Scottish soccer’s governing body moved the date back because there is a packed midweek card on August 31 with the Premier Sports League Cup last-16 ties taking centre stage.
Postecoglou’s holders are among those in action that evening with a trip to Dingwall to take on Ross County.
Clearly, any moves from the Hoops boss – or other teams involved that night – would be impeded.
The outcome means clubs will be allowed an extra 24 hours to complete their business, according to a report in the Daily Record.
ON THE BALL…Cameron Carter-Vickers beat the clock to join Celtic last summer.
Free agents, of course, can still be signed after the September 1 date.
Postecoglou has been busy during the summer window and, as well as fixing up Carter-Vickers, he has arranged permanent deals with Filipe Jota and Daizen Maeda and also paid £3.75million Argentinian left-back Alexandro Bernabei.
He has also signed Aaron Mooy, the Australian World Cup midfielder, on a two-year deal when the international became available on a free and Swiss keeper Benji Siegrist, who quit Dundee United at the end of his terms following four years at Tannadice.
